Michael Alig spearheaded a countercultural youth movement based on the concept of the Warholian "anti-Celebrity" and became King of the Club Kids before inspiring the film Party Monster, starring Macaulay Culkin. He is currently painting masterpieces of artwork; working on his autobiography, Aligula; designing a club kid-inspired clothing line called Skroddleface; directing a NYC art collective called Countdown and recording a new dance single. Ernie is trying to be such a good friend. He stuck by Michael as much as he could. Remember he himself is in recovery and being around this toxic addict life was very dangerous for him, but he risked it in order to try and help Michael. There comes a point where you have to say enough is enough. Ernie did his best.

Michael Alig (born April 29, 1966) is an American former club promoter, musician, and writer who served almost 17 years in prison for manslaughter. Alig was a founder and ringleader of the Club Kids, a group of young New York City clubgoers that became a cultural phenomenon during the late 1980s and early 1990s.[1]
In March 1996, Alig and his roommate, Robert D. "Freeze" Riggs, killed fellow Club Kid Andre "Angel" Melendez in a confrontation over a delinquent drug debt. In October 1997, Alig pled guilty to first-degree manslaughter. Both men were sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison; Riggs was released on parole in 2010, Alig on May 5, 2014.

Well when you’re sober and someone is high or drunk you just don’t find things as funny or silly and you get irritated because of it. Why I can’t be around my friends if they’re drunk and I’m sober and vs versa. I totally understand that..
Lol I know he is dead now but how many times does he have to rehash the past? Spent years in jail only to get out and obsess about a movie that came out almost 20 years ago. An awesome movie but a movie. The only gripe I have about party monster is that Nelson wasn't even mentioned in it. He seemed like such a gentle soul.
Agreed about Nelson but it was a shockumentary to make money. I’m almost happy Nelson wasn’t mentioned bc he was too gentle and genuine to be involved in that mess. Michael was a lost soul who could never see outside of himself. He died just as he was destined to.

The depths to which Ernie dug just to continue to do his best to support Michael (even tho eventually he distanced himself completely) is painful to think about. Ernie did the work and continues to stay on the right side of recovery (albeit he may dabble still these days) yet Michael just never grasped it. He was a tortured soul who just couldn’t walk the path of sobriety. He was a legend in his own mind, while also living an insane life of which he just never grew out of. Ernie is and was an angel

I was so fascinated by the Party Monster movie and Party Monster Shocumentary because I was going through my own party stage at the time(not as extreme).
After a few years I sobered up. After a couple years of sobriety, I've decided I probably only live once, so I'd better have a good time now.
I hope it's not offensive that I enjoyed the movie and documentary. Had I partied with you guys I would have been a wannabe follower and followed you guys everywhere, haha!
