Your channel is by far the best on You Tube, in my opinion. You don't create wood and steel project, you create wood and steel art. Is there anything that you cannot do? I simply love your work. Thanks for sharing your talents and experience.
The like button isn't enough. You constantly take ordinary things, be they tools or jigs, and make them into amazing things. Thank you for sharing your creations with us all. I am looking forward to what other great things will be coming out of your shop.
Wow....was just following along enjoying the concept of the pin hinge for the lid (something I’m trying to incorporate but keep failing at) and then my jaw dropped when I saw you power carving!!! Again, wow!!
Dear Sir, After witnessing your work, I've come to the firm conclusion that your work is neither pretty nor awful just awfully pretty. It reminds me a little of a very ornate bento box. Whatever it's end usage, it's an elegant box beautifully finished. Kind regards.
Dear Sir, Thank you very much for your courteous & hearted response. The way you create extra texture by the carefully dosed usage of the angle grinder adds a new dimension to what would otherwise be just an ordinary plank/ flat board. I would dearly love to see more of that. Exceedingly good work, keep it up. Kind regards.
Parabéns pelo seu trabalho lindo!! você é um artista de primeira com uma delicadesa no que faz ameiiiii essa caixa que pena que moro tão longe ,compraria uma . Não me canso de ver seus vídeos fantástico!
You are so creative, Young! I'm always looking for new 'creations' in boxes and you've provided me one here. Thank you! I recently viewed a video by a husband and wife team and they used an Arbortech Turbo Plane to add a waved detail on the top of a bench. It turned out nicely. I don't have a Turbo Plane but I can use a grinding wheel on my angle grinder as you did to create a similar detail. Keep them coming, Young!
Thank you so much! I bet your box will come out nicely by using a grinding wheel on an angle grinder just as it would if you were to use an arbortech turbo plane. Good luck with your new creation and thank you so much for the compliment!
After reading some of the comment I thought about this had to be a gift I don't know how much somebody would charge for something like this it's gorgeous
the only thing i think is missing from this rather splendid display of woodworkmanship, is how you fixed the brass studds into the lid. I would very much have liked to observe your technique.
Simply love your work. You are an inspiration to craftsmanship. I will tell you you scared me when you brought that angle grinder out I thought what are you doing. However all the effort you put into sanding and making a beautiful sculptured box kudos to you you’re amazing. Can’t wait to see what you got in store for us next
Disclaimer, I could be completely wrong but what I think happened: At 5:26 you can see the bottom panel has a little extra room, because when the humidity changes it will swell up, and if it was tight it might break the joints in the corners of the box. That's why he doesn't run glue around the slot the bottom panel will fit into. But to keep the bottom panel from rattling like he demonstrated, at 5:32 he puts a dot of glue in the center of the slots the end grain will go into (the grain separates and contracts with humidity), so that the bottom will stay in place but still have some room. If you look close you can see the bevel joints have glue on them, but aside from those dots there wasn't any glue in the slot. At 6:17 you can see him move the bottom panel in the slot to make sure there's expansion room on both sides (roughly centering it).
HI Young. I am new to woodworking so I have some questions that are pretty low key for you:--) 1. how thick is the stock? It looks like the side are about 3/4 thick. Is that true? 2. what bit are you using to create the space for the lid? I cannot make that out. 3. Anything special about your angle grinder? It looks like a 4 1/2 inch. what type of blade are you using? I really love this thing. I have six daughters so I would love to surprise them with this as well.
1,Yes, the thickness is 3/4, but if I make it again I will make it 5/8 thick, 2,I using rabbeting bit, check here,It will help, www.amazon.com/Yonico-14705-Rabbet-Router-Bearings/dp/B00KZM1X4K/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1526260995&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=rabbiting+router+bit+set 3,www.homedepot.com/p/Diablo-4-1-2-in-40-Grit-Steel-Demon-Grinding-and-Polishing-Flap-Disc-with-Type-29-Conical-Design-DCX045040N01F/202830903
Thank you so much. Very helpful. One last question regarding what you are using for a hinge. What type of pipe/tube is that and how do you get it to stay in place when you finally put it together?
I used to make a little bigger hole than the pin and I used epoxy glue ,,, it would be much better to use 1/8 brass pin and make 1/8 hole, it would be better without using glue, check here www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-1-8-in-x-36-in-Round-Rod-Brass-800857/204325642
Beautifully done !! is your angle grinder a variable speed one and if you dont mind my asking which wheel do you have it on to shape the wood? will appreciate your kind reply and thank you it was great watching you work on that amazing looking box.
Awesome job on making this box. I'm interested in the jig for making the 45 deg angles on the wood. Do you have a video or plans on how to make it. Burt

I've got to get some of those box clamps, never seen them before! Loved watching you create!
In my humble opinion this is not a box. It's a piece of art.

Interesting way to do the lid. Haven't seem it before. Great ideas, thank you.
Never seen a design like that. You may start a whole new trend in box making with this.
Elegant, thoughtful and well executed, well done.
the only thing i think is missing from this rather splendid display of woodworkmanship, is how you fixed the brass studds into the lid. I would very much have liked to observe your technique.
Eso no es trabajo,es arte .

Beautiful box and great design!
Amazing job as usual! That box has a very interesting design. Someone is going to love that box........... :)
BEAUTIFUL!!
Great job my friend
Clever using that dot of glue in the center of the grain on the bottom panel so it won't rattle but can still expand with humidity/climate
Urban Weekend Warrior didn't catch that part can u explain?

No doubt, final stages changing your work from a nice box to a piece of art.
