Thank you for the info. Saved me a lot of grief with my GSG 16. I was able to loosen that block and feed problem went away. 9 years late, but thank you again.
Light sanding to all mating surfaces that slide or touch fixed my problems.....I had 5 mags and couldn't shoot more than 3 rounds without FTE or jamming....after removing part noted and sanding all edges down lightly I was able to shoot over 200 rounds without issue including double and triple taps and 2 full mag dumps. Gun runs perfect now....less typical occasional light strike FTF which is not too uncommon with .22 LR. Thanks!!
@@Brancovtn65 i just removed the thumb parts altogether which helped....but now theyre more difficult to load. So...when i find them again i will sand them.
Same problem. Same solution. I completely disassembled the mags and ran the follower along the track of each magazine body half. The followers bind up in several places and the springs are weak. Sanding to remove the binding spots and new springs from hkparts solved the problem. Had to file the load assist tabs to eliminate binding/pinching. I can screw them on tight now and they don't bind at all. *edit* I found that the cheapo Pro-mags are actually better designed than the "high quality" factory German mags. Still had to fix the Promags (probably because they copied the factory mags with all their faults) but still better engineered.
Hey there, my gsg-16 was experiencing very same issue. My fix was different. I opened up my magazines and removed all the grease on the inside. Then I used 1000 grit sand paper to sand the glide channels inside the magazine and I sanded that thumb assist piece too. Works great now. Only need to sand enough to make it smoooth.
Hey Jake, I am having the same issue with my GSG 16 after just buying it. Love the gun, but I need to have it run smoother. So I should disassemble my mags and clean/sand them to be smooth?
@@christiannehme2823 yes. Because of the design, each time a round is fired, some burned black powder gets sent into the magazine and gets stuck in the grease, clogging up the feed for the rounds. Mind you, there arent globs of grease, it's a minimal amount that simply lubricates the inner walls of the magazine. Carefully disassemble the magazine, use a paper towel to wipe down the inside if the magazine, then use solvent like alcohol to wipe it down again.. then use 1000 grit sandpaper to gently smooth the part of the magazine where any moving parts in the magazine make contact. This immediately solved my problem. Good luck!
I sanded down the parts mentioned in your video. The magazines operate much smoother. No hang ups. The true test will come on Saturday at the range. thanks!
My new GSG 522 is jamming right out of the box. It wont even feed CCI ammo.I am going to take your advice and take it back to the range today. Thanks for posting this information.
Another way is to not keep fully loaded magazines especially for long term storage. Over time the spring will weaken and not feed properly. Especially for 22s because everything is scaled down and tends to break quicker. If the magazine holds 30 load it with 25 or so. This is a good rule of thumb for all magazine fed weapons.
INteresting your comment with cci ammo. I was at range yesterday and cleared 3 mags of Rem Cyclone. the 4th mag I fliied with cci mini mags and immediatly run into feeding/jam issues. I cleared the chamber, charged and again, jam on the second shot. I put a tiny drop of lub oil on the feed ramp and it resolved the issue. But mine seesm to not like cci.
you guys must be unlucky... the only issues i've ever had with my gsg-522 is that it gets dirty quickly. No matter how well I clean it or how well everything works.. after about 200 rounds the bolt starts getting slow or the chamber gunks up. Last time I shot it, after about 200 rounds, the chamber got so gummed up, the rounds simply wouldn't go more than half way into battery. But, nothing 2 minute bore snaking can't fix.
In my experience your most common feed issues are caused by the type of ammo. CCI Stingers I can drop mags all day with occasional misfeed or something but most other ammo issue after issue.
Thanks for the video! Yes...that is a design flaw with this gun. I have a solution that keeps you from having to remove and reinstall the load assist tabs....check out my channel.
I have had mine 6 months and just started to have this issues...I thought it was the ammo, and went to CCIs but still acted up...Thanks. Will give this tip a go.

So, you removed the thumb part, sanded it on the mating surfaces, and put them back and now it runs smoothly?

Are the gsg5 magazines interchangeable with the gsg16?
@@kelvinb74 not sure..
I was just having this problem, at the range last week. I was about to give the feed ram a polish. Thanks.

Worked like a charm! Only 1 FTF. Afterwards,it was all good1

Good video! I have owned 3 GSG5's and never encountered this problem! Asfar as Ammunition goes I used CCI Mini Mags.

Thanks man. I knew it had something to do with the mag.
Have you tried lightly sanding the edges of feed assist?
right on, good info, thanks for the post
Thx for the tip. Gonna give it a try

I loved it work very good thank you so much THANK
I'm gonna have to give this a try
How did it go

Ty
You could take that tab off and grind it till it’s round so it won’t bind and it will still give you a little more to grab onto when loading

did you notice a bulge around 15 rounds or so after the assist were removed?
RAWBZ RUIZ I can get 25 in. Lol makes the mag bow a bit but double stack em if you got em lol
The Walther will undoubtedly take proprietary mags.... sweet though! ; )
Hold open after last round?
Yes it does
that is an amazing idea.
Is anyone else getting more than 25 rounds into these magazines with it still operating?
simple
Cyclone is hands down the dirtiest 22lr that exists...this gun does not run well dirty
junk federal ammo
