@@fieldmarshaljoe The only reason Universal knew about it is because it looks as good as it does. That's what drove the hype. Creators use the JP name with impunity in many projects. This game was a problem for Universal because the level of quality got the attention of the fans.
The fact they don't want to sponsor this game just proves how stupid today's corporate executives have become. They're worried about their IP and this looks amazing and well done, mainly because it doesn't have corporate executives pulling the strings.
For "Free Roam Mode" add a "Field Research" aspect where you can record specific unexpected discoveries like "Gallimimus and Stegosaurus interaction resulted in hostility" or "Possible unknown disease affecting Dilophisaurus." Idk what else it would do but it's something. Maybe add a photo mode with it. Cretaceous Kingdom Snap! lol
The fact that universal complimented you and asked nicely for changes instead of outright shutting you down is pretty dam cool. I hope they come back with some sort of letter of congratulations and or with a potential job offering. Something. This is so cool either way. I cannot wait to see this in full. Keep going 💪❤
For sure, creators like this who have this sort of passion for an IP should be the ones moving it forward, and I hope these production companies start to recognize that. Hollywood (along with some other entertainment industries, but Hollywood in particular) desperately needs it nowadays.
Okay, hear me out: Raptor pouncing. You could have raptors pounce on you whether like all the time or in cutscenes, and maybe you could mash a button to get it off or something. That'd honestly be really cool.
Universal should have hired you. If you could have the rights and the tech, I could only imagine what you could do! I love what you are doing and look forward to the release!
Actually he won’t get sued. Because everything he made is original art work from him building & making it. In order for them to sue him. They would have to have their logo & Company brand name behind it. Labeled in his game. that he himself put in it. It’s the same thing about making Tshirts. You can have a picture of jurassic Park because the company has no right to your shirt. Bc you didn’t put their company name behind it. This happens all the time by the way. Copy rights are just that. You cannot claim it’s yours by taking the names & putting the companies name behind it to make money. That’s all it is. You can’t make a movie & call it jurassic Park 7 & say it’s from the future. & say the company name & logo. That’s all it is. Not the art work that you put in yourselves. If you took a shot from the movie and plastered that short clip of shot in your game then yes that is copy right. But if you do the shot from the movie in your game as the game artwork. It is NOT Considered copy right. I hope I helped you guys some.
@@edwardmartinez6401Isn't there a rule though that you can't sell fan art of IP's? I know people already do that regardless, but that might be an actual thing to be concerned about
As a fellow graphic designer (and HUGE JP fan) initially I was skeptical about the likelihood of coming close enough to capturing the right feel with the new logo, and it was funny, in this video as you were showing each iteration, you were pointing out things that I was literally thinking about how each one just didn't look quite right (still good looking, of course)... but then when you revealed the final, and its inverted variant, I audibly said "OOOOooo!" Very well done, sir. You did it, you crazy sonofabitch. Yes, it's unfortunate that you can't use the official branding, but I'm legitimately impressed with the workaround.
ThT workaround isn’t enough, Ip law concerns confusion, and it say at 0:30 that the emulations of the setting and environment is ip violation, which it is because it’s plagiarism.
I don't know, it looks too convoluted, it has 3 complete and different fossils in one section of the logo and the rest contains the title in giant letters. I think he should think about simplifying it a bit
Say what you will.. As someone else pointed out the fact they didn't sent a cease and desist is pretty nice of them. They do have to protect they copy right/trademark and if they learn something unoffical have been made that uses the name and logo and don't do anything they will loss said copy right so they really did have to take the step but instead of the Nuclear option they went more "Hey man this cool and all but you can't really use our name and logo but if you just remove those then all good" Which means you can still make the game you want and give honor that amazing movie :) I am looking forward to seeing how this game do once it's ready :)
@@RandomGuy-hr8sb That is, yet again, blatantly false. To void a patent you have to demonstrate that the idea was used before the patent was claimed, or get around the claim of the patent in general. All of that can be easily researched within a few minutes.

@@solitaregames that’s not how fair use works. Fair use is supposed to be used to inform the public of a copyrighted work, you can’t use it to justify plagiarism. @@ironhell813 Plagiarism isn't illegal. If someone copies copyrighted material and makes a certain amount of money then it is a crime. So long as he changes the likenesses enough to be considered fair use he should be fine. Universal can't copyright dinosaurs, zoos, islands, or dinosaur zoos on islands. Those things are public domain. Plus, with the right elements, parody law would be a boon. Between that, fair use, and the fact that he isn't selling anything... I mean... he's got a pretty good case. His biggest worry should be Universal suing him even if he'd win because he'd have to lawyer up and that ain't cheap.
He doesn’t have any case at ALL because any good JP fan knows that almost all of JP is distinct including the designs of the island the Dino’s and the buildings and he CANNOT COPY ANY OF IT The way you describe fair use isn’t what it really is: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_use Read it and understand it’s only an extension of constitutional rights it doesn’t give you rights to use another’s designs at all.
Dang fine work, as always. It's extremely impressive. That logo is pretty busy, and it goes to show how perfect the JP logo is at being a logo. It has a good deal of detail, but even when that detail gets washed out at smaller sizes and greater distances, it still looks like itself. The 'K' from your channel logo would have been an excellent choice for the game. K isn't just for "Kingdom", it is also the geological abbreviation for "Cretaceous"!

He can’t use any assets from the movies or Any JP game at all In fact it’s still l plagiarism anyways because he’s scripting the game identical to the movie which was stupid….
@@ironhell813 yeah that why you explain "these are placeholders for the end product" and then with the beta test and final product you have original sounds. And it's only plagiarism if the similarities are less than 20% different than the one complaining, if they are more than 20% different then the original IP has no real grounds to complain about it as the copyright system in the US considers it an original work. And as he's already changed the name, the design of the opening, the vehicles, on a guess of it I'd argue h'es about 7-9% major differences already. And from the designs we've seen he's having characters doing ziplining down areas I don't remember ziplining going on in the movies or the books they're based on so that's another few points of difference and we're nearly at that 20% already. Wonder what else he can change between now and the end product?
Hed have to change enough to consider it a parody because it’s obvious he intended to copy Jurassic park and that’s plagiarism regardless the percentage. And zip lining was in JP3 in the aviary. The “20%” you’re referring to is likely the De Minimis Doctrine and this was thrown out a long time ago. All you need to know to correctly interpret copyright laws around the world (and in the us) is if there is a possibility of confusion or intent to use it cause that is the root of the laws as making works that are too similar robs the rightful owner of a work to the right to protect and profit from their work.
@@ironhell813 This is not a parody, it is an original IP that has similarities to other IP's Look up things like the Dragonlance Chronicles and the Sword of Shanarah for an example of what I'm saying. So no, he should be clear here that it's an "original IP inspired by Jurassic Park"
The “20%” you’re referring to I’m sure is the De Minimis Doctrine but that was tossed in court along time ago. The only real litmus test in copyright law for anywhere in the world (and it includes the us) is that is if you intend to confuse your work for another’s for whatever purpose, you simply aren’t allowed because it hurts the proper rights holders potential to market and profit from their work.
You can now make scientifically accurate dinosaurs, since you're no longer bound by Jurassic Park lore. Make a whole new game about survival with dinosaurs.
An idea for the free run mode is you could be able to find sick Dino’s and help nurse them right on site kind of like in the original movie, you could also have way to fly in a plane and see an aerial view of the island. unbelievable what you have made just within "Dreams" that is absolutely wild. i imagine it is fairly limiting in a lot of aspects like with the animations. especially in first person. it would be really cool if the raptors could pounce onto the player character and knock them on their back, attacking with their foot claws and such. That sounds like it might be impossible tho.
I’m actually planning on adding a pounce attack if the Raptor spots the player from far away. It’ll try to sneak up and stay undetected, and then pounce when it’s close enough.
Krenautican, you’re a minor talent, but you should stop. You cannot release that on dreams never mind here and eventually this video along with your game will be removed from both dreams and YT. If you did this to try and get hired, it likely won’t work because you attempted to pass off your work as official, which shows no respect to the creators Companies use public forums like YT to advertise their properties and you basically robbed them of this. You’ll be lucky if they don’t sue you for continuing to work on it. You can’t use anything from JP, that includes the signs, the island and it’s locations and the Dino designs. They’re all copyrighted. Thinking you have the right doesn’t make it so. I’m sorry but I’ve reported you to YT and I’ve also had your responses deleted cause you’re deleting mine. It’s been over a year, so they clearly can’t actually remove my videos because they’re transformative and fall under fair use. I’m sorry to take their free advertising, but at the same time, I’m giving them free advertising with this game. I’m creating excitement and driving engagement for the brand. Also, I can make the dinosaurs look however I want. They’re dinosaurs. You can’t copyright a real animal, since you could argue that’s what an actual dinosaur might have looked like.
A top for your logo: it has to be recognizable from a distance. Hence make the logo blurry and see if you still can see what it's about or what it stands for. The Jurassic Park logo does that perfectly with its distinguishable Tyrannosaurus skull and the big white font that's used.
I was already impressed at the start, but when you said you were developing this in Dreams, you earned my respect. This looks UNBELIEVABLE and I can’t wait to see your updates in the future
So glad I was recommended this. The project looks phenomenal and great job on redesigning the logos shows dedication rather than just abandoning the project as a whole.
If they thought it was that accurate, why not just say thanks we'll release that, do you want a job making more games for us? Stupid really when you think about it
I cant imagine making something so perfect and then having to alter it because of some idiots who didn’t want to license it. Excellent work! I hope you keep the files of jp just in case they change their minds.
At 6:43, I simply had stars in my eyes. The idea of having to remake the logo? That made me dizzy. I'm so impressed by your dedication to do that. But, making a musical score that's in the same vein as John William's music? I've never felt more proud of someone making a fan game before. You guys are so passionate about making this fan game and it's so uplifting and inspiring to know you haven't given up the fight. Excellent work, man.
If it were Nintendo, throw a guy wearing a bit of red and blue who does even a bit of jumping into your game, and they throw Hell at you. I honestly thought it was very kind all they made him do was not use their brand, it’s understandable even.
"Copy" is a weird way to say "modeled by hand an entire new logo and branding that's reminiscent of the property being derived from without being so similar that it's legally actionable." There's a ton of effort on display here for it to be dismissed as "copying" and frankly that's kind of insulting
You might not see this but a cool free roam this is the idea: Parasaurolophus Panic The Parasaurolophus are starting to stir trouble near the visitor center. It’s your duty to move the heard away before something bad happens…
3:00 you can't legally use the trademarked Jeep logo without permission. Notice how in Grand Theft Auto they rename all the vehicle brands to a custom name. DeLorean is called DeLuxo, for example. Racing games pay to license or get permission to use the actual vehicle names. be aware of that risk.
"Dreams" Oh, didn't realize you weren't a real game developer, it's a real shame... you have the talent to be one, but them sending you that letter should have been your wakeup call. You can be a game developer, all you have to do is use a real engine.
The fact that you made this in dreams is absolutely mind blowing, I remember that game from the PS4 and it was fun, but this is like some unreal engine 5 level stuff, bravo!!

Jurassic Park is my favorite movie, so you've have my attention for years, and its been really cool seeing a passionate fan create such a work of art. Its been very interesting to see how you, through sheer dedication, mastered Dreams and navigated its limitations. Ultimately, its a shame Universal couldn't look the other way on this one, but at least their demands were reasonable enough for you to accommodate, all too many fan created works have been shut down from strict IP protection. Good luck, i can't wait to see the end result.

You're doing such a great job balancing the JP vs CK brands! In a way, the update is great because it will allow you to make small changes to improve the story/setting
I saw this game not too long ago but now after finding the channel and seeing everything I am getting the game as soon as it drops. Props to you especially after finding out that you were making the game on a ps5.
This goes to show how people on top doesn't care about us on the bottom. Even if you show them how you're worth. They could have offered you and your work to be part of their team project. Look how much time and effort you put into this with amazing results. And caught their attention only to be pushed aside. Other developers should come together so all of you can create a original dinosaur game. That fans actually wanted from the beginning.
Man, I’ve always wanted to make a game like this but I never got far enough in my skill set in game design to pull something like this together. I love this idea so much and I wish I could help on this project. Id love to get into game design with something like this. So cool! Great work so far!
the design of the gate, visitor center building, even the modification they made to the cars (not the jeep) to have the glass roof, are all potentially copyrighted material created and owned by Universal Studios. (is that valid? of course it is; the delorean car is not owned by Universal, but the flux capacitor and the back engines on it, definitely are.) the basic rule of thumb is, is there unique design concept art of this thing somewhere, that is not just a patent? if so, they created it and own it. not just the logos, but the design itself of the objects. and in some cases, even the color scheme and patterns as well. if in doubt, ask chatgpt questions to get some risk assessment. and yes, as some pointed out, if you are using JP sound effects, those dinosaur sound effects were created by Ben Burtt and their team for the movies, meaning they cannot be used.
I'm curious if simply changing the name/logo and music is enough to appease the C&D though. Like isn't the design of the island itself with all the specific locations and vehicles also part of the IP? I would assume so but of course I'm no expert on all of that. In any case this does look amazing and I hope it all works out!
So if you are looking for things to collect in free mode, the easy option is embryos, could even make the visitor center room with them all fill up as they are collected, or if you are just looking for more for a player to do in free roam, finding iconic locations to take pictures of could be an idea, or even some kind of document the various animals doing different things depending on how much they can reasonably do.
I have the honor of knowing Krenautican and he brought this over to play it in our basement. I have a really good sound set up and I hated how scared the Raptor hunt made me with the sound design. I think people will enjoy it when it comes out.
For the free roam mode maybe you could add events like a raptor hunt or maybe a herbivore stamped and you could add a sort of achievements board in the visitor centre
Freeroam Idea: Collections. Id love to wander the gorgeous lands, collect plants and insects. Maybe you could find a rare egg in a nest and take it back to hatch it for a surprise pet? Love what your doing!!
I know that I am probably a bit late to comment on this video, but I just wantet to thank you so much for not giving up on this project. As a fan of the original trilogy I was looking for a good jurassic park experience that is not just a park builder, but more focused on the peoples perspective as staff or visitors in the park. When I saw this on my fyp I knew that I had to watch it immedeatly and I have to say, I enjoyed your take on the idea. From one fan of the franchise to another, hats of to you my friend.
For the hiding from the raptor gamemode, I would recommend making it so that when you are crouched, you cant see over the top of the tables and when you stand you are much higher than the tables. This way it is more surprising and suspenseful when crouched when the raptor is trying to find you and makes it more dangerous if you stand too much.
The one tip I'd give is to keep the general outline of the logos and signs, as in, the actual dimensions. That way you fill them in with whatever personal stuff you come up with and once you launch it, you allow modders to reverse the custom branding into the Jurassic Park branding, overlaying it on the existing boards with similar dimensions.
Hats off to Universal, honestly. They could’ve shut a fan project like this down, but they obviously respected it enough to ask for a rebrand. That, or they want to avoid bad press with shutting down a fan’s project (maybe both, even), but either way I salute them.
Really late but here’s an idea (if one of these were shown in the trailer, I’m sorry): If you ever update the game, you could add an open/closed system. So maybe during the open time period, there are other guests out. During the closed time period, the map would be darker and nocturnal dinos would be active. And all of the paddock would be blocked from being entered. You could also add an abandoned mode where the park was recently shut down and left to rot. Electricity across the island would be on a timer. When the timer strikes zero, all power will go out. The dinosaurs could also be more aggressive because they are desperate for food. There could also be toxic zones to avoid. There are so many ways to improve this game, and these are just a few!
This is the first time i have seen anything about this, and I was thinking 'oh wow this is super freaking cool'! AND THEN YOU SAID THIS WAS IN DREAMS AND I WAS ABSOLUTELY FLOORED.
Personally, I like quests the most, when they have a description, but no markers. So imagine finding a diary about where something like missing DNA samples are hidden, by having to follow vague descriptions in Dennis ' notebook or something. Reward could be a mini game on Dennis computer, as the sample bottles give you password parts or hints for it.
Collecting embryo samples would be pretty neat (vials of DNA exclusive from the infamous spray can - could return them to cryo one by one as you collect them, adding to the sense of completing your visitor center).

@@fieldmarshaljoe The only reason Universal knew about it is because it looks as good as it does. That's what drove the hype. Creators use the JP name with impunity in many projects. This game was a problem for Universal because the level of quality got the attention of the fans.

Such a pity they didn’t let you continue. But you did well anyway, even without the official stuff. Can’t wait to play the game 😍👏🏼

It’s not enough to change the name.
Ye, but then again understandable that you can't take a billion dollar franchise and use it for your own game and change dome thingd

You’re right, but then universal would have ownership to it and it wouldn’t be his.
It still isn’t, it’s a plagiarized copy of JP and he’ll still be sued even with a new name.
My exact thoughts on this! Such a shame
I know people already do that regardless, but that might be an actual thing to be concerned about
I LOVE THIS! I called my kid in and he said "Yeah I am playing that." I am also very excited for story mode and it will be worth the wait.
ThT workaround isn’t enough,
Ip law concerns confusion, and it say at 0:30 that the emulations of the setting and environment is ip violation, which it is because it’s plagiarism.
Beat me to it! Seriously great redesign

He doesn’t have any case at ALL because any good JP fan knows that almost all of JP is distinct including the designs of the island the Dino’s and the buildings and he CANNOT COPY ANY OF IT

He can’t use any assets from the movies or Any JP game at all
In fact it’s still l plagiarism anyways because he’s scripting the game identical to the movie which was stupid….
@@ironhell813 This is not a parody, it is an original IP that has similarities to other IP's
Look up things like the Dragonlance Chronicles and the Sword of Shanarah for an example of what I'm saying.
True or just like add feathers and stuff to em
I think that the rebranding would be complete with the dinosaur colors changed a little. Looks really cool!!
And removing every Jurassic Park logo, piece of iconography, and reference that got 99% of us interested in the first place, don't forget that!
An idea for the free run mode is you could be able to find sick Dino’s and help nurse them right on site kind of like in the original movie, you could also have way to fly in a plane and see an aerial view of the island. 4. Recreating iconic scenes and locations from JP
5. NPC’s
6. More dinos
7. Obstacle courses
8. Timed challenges
9. “To do” lists
10. Survival mechanics (crafting, building, eating, etc)
11. Caring for the dinos (feeding, breeding, cleaning, maintenance, etc)
12. Multiplayer (if that’s possible in Dreams)
13. Weather (rain, snow, hail, etc)
14. Progression (levels, equipment, skins, etc)
15. Leaderboard
16. Speedrun incentives?
Edit:
17. World events (volcano, damaged enclosures, power outages, dino fights, etc)
& escaped dinos (suggested by @parkersproductions3336)
18. More weapons and weapon upgrades
19. Dino taming, naming, and tracking
20. Survival inspired JP survive
21. Upgradable “hub”

a name like “Cretaceous Dreams” woulda been a nice homage to the builder

So, you are told to change the games properties to NOT resemble the original...but then copy the original. Creativity->The door.
"Copy" is a weird way to say "modeled by hand an entire new logo and branding that's reminiscent of the property being derived from without being so similar that it's legally actionable." There's a ton of effort on display here for it to be dismissed as "copying" and frankly that's kind of insulting

Watch this turn out to be better than Jurassic Park: Survival 😂
the design of the gate, visitor center building, even the modification they made to the cars (not the jeep) to have the glass roof, are all potentially copyrighted material created and owned by Universal Studios.
At least universe didn't completely take it down like Nintendo would
Thank you for buffing my comrades
I'm curious if simply changing the name/logo and music is enough to appease the C&D though. Like isn't the design of the island itself with all the specific locations and vehicles also part of the IP? I would assume so but of course I'm no expert on all of that.
In any case this does look amazing and I hope it all works out!
So if you are looking for things to collect in free mode, the easy option is embryos, could even make the visitor center room with them all fill up as they are collected, or if you are just looking for more for a player to do in free roam, finding iconic locations to take pictures of could be an idea, or even some kind of document the various animals doing different things depending on how much they can reasonably do.
just the fact that you made what you did on a PS5 is FLIPPING AMAZING!!!!
I have the honor of knowing Krenautican and he brought this over to play it in our basement. I have a really good sound set up and I hated how scared the Raptor hunt made me with the sound design. I think people will enjoy it when it comes out.
Universal actually is a fair IP holder in my experience. They aren't asshats and do care for the IPs in good faith. Lots of good people working there.
For the free roam mode maybe you could add events like a raptor hunt or maybe a herbivore stamped and you could add a sort of achievements board in the visitor centre
Dude u are a patient and dedicated person, look much forward to this!!

When I saw this on my fyp I knew that I had to watch it immedeatly and I have to say, I enjoyed your take on the idea. From one fan of the franchise to another, hats of to you my friend.
That's pretty rich considering the dinosaur skeleton graphic was STOLEN FROM A BOOK for the JP novels cover.
Should of been made in Unity so everyone could play it. Not Just Dreams on PS5. But very cool
I've only come across this project now. I'm blown away. Can't wait to play it!
Dude, this amazing, wholesome and a great display of talent. Universal missed an opportunity here
The one tip I'd give is to keep the general outline of the logos and signs, as in, the actual dimensions.
Really late but here’s an idea (if one of these were shown in the trailer, I’m sorry):
If you ever update the game, you could add an open/closed system.
Dude, this could just be a spiritual successor for Trespasser.
MAN this is great! No idea Dreams could even handle something this good!
they were just mad you could do what a whole studio couldn't do not ever stop your amazing and making kids dreams come true
This is the first time i have seen anything about this, and I was thinking 'oh wow this is super freaking cool'! AND THEN YOU SAID THIS WAS IN DREAMS AND I WAS ABSOLUTELY FLOORED.
It looks amazing, I cannot believe you've managed to do all this in Dreams. Astounding work and dedication.
Oh my god. HOW have I not found you before!? This looks amazing! Shame you had to rebrand, but the new logo looks amazing!
A free roam to the restricted area and underwater area would be awesome! But on all honesty I love this as it is! It looks amazing keep it up!
I'm honestly shocked they didn't just hire you... this is INCREDIBLE.
Collecting embryo samples would be pretty neat (vials of DNA exclusive from the infamous spray can - could return them to cryo one by one as you collect them, adding to the sense of completing your visitor center).
Awesome stuff. The lack of a cease and desist from Universal makes it that better
YOU DID A GOOD JOB. MY GOD MY MIND IS BLOWN! YOU SHOULD MAKE A COMIC OR A FAN FILM ABOUT CRETACEOUS KINGDOM HECK! OR VHS TAPES. YOU ARE FULL OF AMAZING IMAGINATION. 👍👍
Love the new music you've started creating! Looking (and sounding) amazing!
Hah, I thought at first you were the same video I stumbled on where the guy created the Jurassic Park, based off blueprints and stuff, seems like these are two different projects the other is FilmCore. I actually thought I was seeing that, this is quite advanced. This is incredible!
I mean outside of having to remake the logo's, music, etc, the fact that Universal send a C&D does mean that the game is so good that they feel like it could be mistaken like a official JP game, which means you are doing it right
06:55 I like the music there. Well made and it does fit your park without it being too similar to Jurassic Park.
