To be honest I considered this one of their 'lesser' instrumental songs for some time. But man, watching a live version of it gives me way more appreciation for it. But that's Rush for you, best live band ever

In retrospect, I think T4E was one of the best Rush tours ever. Awesome set list, 2112 in its entirety, + brought Natural Science back for the first time since the PW tour. And even though T4E often gets panned as an album, some of those songs sound *really* good on these Molson clips, this one included. Laugh at the lyrics of Virtuality all you want, but go listen to the live version from this concert, with good earphones -- what a kick ass live tune! In some ways, I think this tour was sort of Rush's peak as a live act -- they were old enough to be real masters of their craft by this time, and not old enough to have lost any edge, yet.

Brian Shaffner actually they brought natural science back for the first time since moving pictures tour. They still played it in 1981 until pre signals tour.

I would say the way I rank each song from T4E would be like this
      1: Limbo
      2: Test For Echo
      3: Resist
      4: Time And Motion
      5: Totem
      6: Virtuality
      7: Driven
      8: Dog Years
      9: Colour Of Right
      10: Half The World
      11: Carve Away The Stone

I agree. I like it much better than the next two albums. And almost as much as their finale, Clockwork Angels. Test for Echo has 6 great tunes on it, and a couple more that I kind of like. Only one "skip" song on the entire album. Great sound from start to Limbo, with the exception or "Resist."... And some people disagree with me on "Resist." They like that song, so that makes this a great record overall.

+Evan Rittmann That's gonna be hard because that was almost 20 years ago. It was an article from a magazine that talked about the accident and the magazine had their website that had 2 pictures of her. One by herself in what looked like a prom dress and the other with Neil but that was 2002 some 5 years after it happened. I think the magazine was called "M" but don't hold me to that. I have looked on the Internet since and have never been able to find anything I will do some more looking. I do know she attended a regular high school and most schools (at least mine in 95 was) have online archives of past classes but that would depend on if her school does that. I've found pictures of Geddy and Alex's kids but pictures of Selina are extremely hard to find if not impossible.

We often think about this period of their history and associate it with the double tragedy that Neil was about to suffer. What gets lost in that, is that this was a period when they dead-ended, like they did on "Hold Your Fire". "Test For Echo" was an abomination of an album, failing more profoundly than any other release than "Vapor Trails". People forget the amount of power that the grunge movement had at this time, and the sway that it had over established artists. Rush had always assimilated new ideas, but grunge was antithetical to the ethos of their creative collective. It was loud, overly emotive, and devoid of any subtlety. To assimilate these ideas, Rush had to give up a great deal of its identity.
This continued on "Vapor Trails", but their time away from working excused that particular mistake. Perhaps the R30 tour, with its deliberate re-examination of earlier material, got them back in touch with their musical values. Thankfully, their last two LP's were firm restatements of their style.

Man, test for echo is one of their most underrated albums, to me it sounds so clear, and yeah, it is emotive, but that emotivity was proficiently implemented in that album, it sounds very musical, and as the previous albums, it has a heavy pitch and loaded with philosophical material.
