@Eric I didn't get to see them live. I had the chance in 2012 and I messed up. They played in Indianapolis. I was living just south of there. I know Alex and Ged will do something together. It'll be awesome but bitter sweet without Neil. Just have to patiently wait. I wonder what other collaborations they will do in the future.

I was at this very show with my girlfriend (now wife) - it was her first exposure to Rush (my first time live). Was totally blown away at the sound these 3 guys made! This was a show beyond anything we had seen prior, and serves as near tops of anything since! Seeing 2112 in entirety that night was something special, so was this song...The entire setlist, mixed with the atmosphere of the night (warm summer breeze coming off of Lake Ontario, the laser lights as the sun went down, the clouds of pot smoke, and these hometown boys) made for an experience like no other!!

Lucky you! The more I see of this show, the more I hope that someday they'll release a DVD of the entire show. Although it's hard to be definitive on a band who were such unrelenting perfectionists, I don't think they ever looked or sounded better. Not sure why it is coming out in bits and pieces. I believe the first half hour or so was a bonus on the R40 boxset, and then a couple more songs were on the bonus bonus R40 disc. Don't get me started on the R40 box, which I never bought, because it was asking a lot of those of us who already owned the other DVD's, to buy them again for the sake of a single bonus disc. And then I can only imagine the feelings of those fans who forked out for the R40, only to find out that there was a bonus bonus disc, which they didn't get unless they ordered it from the Backstage club. But then, I might get started......... oops too late.

Been mourning all day.... My first concert was Rush Signals tour in '82. My first CD was Moving Pictures which I took to the local Circuit City store and played as loud as I could in the sound room. I have been a drummer on and off for 40 years and still struggle playing Rush, but I love trying! I remember drawing drumsets (always Neil's) when I was a kid and setting up my drumset like his. My kid who plays the drums have made lego drumsets with Neil. Neil you and your drumming inspired millions.

Can I give that 100 thumbs up?! I had the pleasure of seeing them play this song when they came to Nashville on this tour which was sometime in the Summer of 1997. Of course this was also the tour where they played the whole first side of 2112! Not just the overture and the Temples of Syrinx but the whole enchilada!! Thank you Rush!!!

Tom Sawyer is a great song. If it had been done identically by another band it might be their best piece. However, Rush made many songs superior to it. For my money, nothing encapsulates "Rush" like Xanadu.

To say Rush has a “quintessential” tune is to forfeit your fandom. So many great tunes. For me it’s a time & place kind of thing. La Villa is always on my “list”, but today I heard Available Light & wow!! I forgot what a great song that is. There are songs that don’t even make most people’s top 10 that I consider classics. Analog Kid, Something for Nothing, The Enemy Within, I could go on...

Storytime. Back when I was in high school, in my Canadian Literature class, I was given an assignment to give a speech about a Canadian poet of my choice including a biography, a poem and an analyzation of the poem. I chose Neil Peart (idea stolen from Sebastian Bach). I used this song as the poem bringing a boom box to play it and making photocopies of the lyrics handing them out to the class. After everyone gave their speech, we were given a quiz on all the speeches given. The question about Neil Peart on the quiz was the most correctly answered. The only person that answered it wrong was absent during my speech.

Back in the early 1980s when I was a young and naive drummer, who forever bit off more than he could chew, formed a band with two brothers. One on guitar and one on Bass who was good singer. We were playing Judas Priest, and some simpler rock and roll. So I said, "Hey let's play Natural Science!" We worked on all the parts over and over and I brought all of Neil's fills to my teacher. We managed to stumble through it though truncated or redacted the solo parts. back then there was no easy way for us to transcribe Alex's solos. I think Rush plays it much better than we did. We ended up learning many rush songs, all with truncated/redacted solo sections. It was a lot of fun, very educational and a helluva challenge.
