I love the way you edit and break down the games. It makes it so easy to digest and enjoy. While I like other styles of watching commander this is easily the most enjoyable for me. Keep it up!
. That Notion Thief was bonkers. Sadly, doing it without having means to protect yourself is not the greatest idea. +1 for the shivers given tho HAHAHA Also, not completely sure if sacrificing Sheoldred to Razaketh was a good idea.
My guess is he knew playing against 2 mono black decks means there would be a lot of removal and that early Meren would be the biggest threat. If Meren dies early and you havent set up some ramp you’re shot for a little bit.
I'm simple, I see a commander I've thought about playing because uniqueness/jank (like the game with neheb R/B or The flash R/B guy) and I click. thank you Muddstah for your amazing consistent content as always man! Thank you thank you sincerely thank you!
Why? Why he sacrifice Sheoldred with Razaketh at 7:39 if the ability is instant speed? Why?! I loved the finish of the game, Kokusho "combo". Meren deserved to lose after tutor a bunch of cards and don't be able to win the game.
There might only be one Kokusho commander, but in a similar iteration of what must be a battle involving copies of a card (I'm looking at you Mirage Mirror), there was most certainly more than just one Kokusho, among other copies of cards (with similar effects).
fantastic game! It felt truly black which made my heart happy. Having written that, maybe I should built my first mono black deck soon? It's s shame that the staples, especially ramp, is so damn expensive.
I built my first mono black commander deck recently (with gonti as commander) and cabal stronghold is a really good budget option, as is burnished heart. Depending on your playgroup, there are various cheap tutors as well. And I like colorless artefact ramp as well. I don't know what your budget is and what you like, but I feel you can do a lot of the cool big mana black stuff for cheap (but no one needs to run and hate, which is the case for my playgroup mostly which is actually very nice for budget deckbuilding)
I think it goes like this, Living End resloves and then all players do what the Living End says at the same time and after that is done and creatures come into play, the ability of creatures activate and go to stack. Active player (Bill) trigger goes first on stack, then the player after him (Victor) and then from the last player (Daren). After all abilitys are put on stack the last one resloves first, then second to last and so on.
for living death, about 11:00, what/who decided that the etb triggers were ordered as daren > victor > bill? if bill was the controller of the spell, shouldn't his etb's resolve first? or since he controls the spell, he decided in what order the etb's resolve?
Here is a good reddit post that helps to explain this interaction - www.reddit.com/r/magicTCG/comments/7wuhsg/complex_rules_question_resolving_living_death_in/ Also, this post from the Magic Judges Blog - blogs.magicjudges.org/rulestips/2011/09/apnap-and-you/
Roger had a Tasigur, which is in Ydris' colors. I don't remember seeing one on Bill's board, but maybe I missed it. The white symbol is in Crypt Ghast's reminder text, which isn't considered for color identity - the same way mono-white decks can run Blind Obedience.
Great episode, though the Kokusho sacrifice triggers were a little too much and basically foreshadowed who would win this. I also have to admit, that I have a new most hated commander, with Kokusho just being too strong, for what he costs.
Are you sure the link you listed for Meren is the correct decklist? A lot of cards played in this game aren't in there: Sheoldred, Razaketh, Living Death, Spore Frog...
Watching to see about kukushou and it was correct but yeesh what was happening. Random yidris wheels with no pay off and a meren deck that used raz tutor 15x and still lost.
If Bill hadn't gotten greedy with Razaketh, losing 10 life to tutor for five cards, he might've had enough life to survive that last turn and turn the tables... He also got too hasty with that Entomb and lost his Hulk for nothing, when he could've waited to cast it in response to Roger's Winds of Change.
Victor couldve activated Whisper in reponse to the Preist and put the Garry into play. He wouldve drained enough to maybe eek out the win with that board
So spoilers If you notion thief in response to a wheel effect, you better have a way to either protect yourself or wipe the board, cause Roger sadly didn’t get to live to see the next turn after that..
I belong to the denomination of ppl that have successfully draw themselves to death by accident (on more than one occasion) from playing [Notion Thief] at a full table.
So I don't think it's true because I've never heard it, but can I use the promo code mtgmuddstah, in all caps at flip side gaming dot com to get 10% off?
I’m all about self-expression, but isn’t displaying your political beliefs on a playmat a little bit confrontational? I would be worried about people judging me before they even spoke to me, which would definitely happen.
I can totally see your point, but considering what his beliefs are the statement that Victor is making is that he doesn't really care about someone else's opinion. Don't get me wrong, that obviously opens him up to judgement, but realistically I don't think it bothers him the same way it would to others of various other beliefs. I'm not a Libertarian, so I can't say for sure that's what he is going for, but it is also possible that he disagrees with the Libertarian party and is using the image as an ironic piece of criticism. A good friend of mine purchased a pair of metal Communist dice with the Hammer and Sickle on them. When I asked him why later he said "What's more Capitalistic than putting a brand logo on something and selling it for more than it's worth?". I think about that a lot when I get into political discourse.
Man these players are bad lol. A Skullclamp dying for no reason, Meren not being casted with open mana, A Terror being cast way too late, and so much more. Hopefully they watch this and see their mistakes.
I like that the Skullclamp died for no reason because it was attached to the Fauna Shaman lol.
I like that the Skullclamp went to the bin with the Fauna Shaman and that he never noticed.
Bill stopped flicking his cards immediately when Daren Bojuka Bogged him. Funny
haha, nice catch!

This week on MTGMuddstah:
Kokusho vs. Kokusho vs. Kokusho vs Wheels
My deck at the time did not have a kokusho (whisper deck). Now it does lol
Dropping Birthing Pod in a table with two monoblack decks... must feel good.
Well, we'll never know now, because we can't see the decklist (it's either wrong or outdated).
"Sidisi exploits a plant."
Let that gory image sink in.
It's Muddstah time already? Hell yea! 😍
Everyone's favorite frog? Excuse me, The Gitrog Monster would like to have a word with you...
+1 for kokusho decklist
Pitiless plunderer is like the small version of phyrexian altar, without the sac outlet ability, but you get to keep the mana around.

That Notion Thief was bonkers.
Sadly, doing it without having means to protect yourself is not the greatest idea.

can you upload the kokusho deck? I came to see the video again just for the deck haha
Does this Meren player forget that he has a commander to play before he does graveyard shenanigans? Should have played Meren on turn 4
he even leaves up 4 mana later in the game, not having cast Meren yet
Really weird
Yeah there were a lot of weird decisions from him.... I think maybe just bad decisions
@@Cole444Train would be interesting to hear what he thought, yeah
My guess is he knew playing against 2 mono black decks means there would be a lot of removal and that early Meren would be the biggest threat. If Meren dies early and you havent set up some ramp you’re shot for a little bit.
@@hiddenleaf414 this is a correct comment
And that's why you always cast your Entomb on your opponents end step!
I was delaying my lunch indefinitely for this. Thanks!

03:13 - That Bojuka Bog was indeed satisfying.
first one
This is why Kokusho was banned as a commander from the format's early days.
Now it's just a meh Black deck. It's slow engine.
No recurring nightmare is why Kokusho was banned.
Daryl Chiu It’s pretty fair nowadays
I'd LOVE to play Recurring Nightmare in EDH.
Can you upload the kokusho deck. Done moving yet?
any chance we can get that Kokusho decklist?
He cant play Tasigur in Meren. Its Color Idenity is Sultai
Tasigur was in Ydris
fantastic game! It felt truly black which made my heart happy.

Can some help explain when Bill cast living death, at approximately 10:55, why Daren's triggers, resolved first, then, victor, then bill?
I think it goes like this, Living End resloves and then all players do what the Living End says at the same time and after that is done and creatures come into play, the ability of creatures activate and go to stack.

do you have that kokusho decklist still by chance?
Where can I get that Tasigur Cat Mat
Like the baseball into. Seeing it’s right around the corner
So glad to see my boy whisper represented!
Time for my favorite part of a monday morning!
Kevin Stokes The ONLY good part of a monday morning
@@kidscottii3957 You're right.
Feels good, sounds good. Except for Meren punts, this one is a wonderful video.
I love that victor is a libertarian. That mat is dope.
Bill my dude, entomb is an instant.
Can't Bill not have Tasigur because of the blue mana symbols?
Yes, technically they can't have crypt ghast because of the white symbol
Bill didn't run him I think. The tasigur was in the yidris deck
Roger had a Tasigur, which is in Ydris' colors. I don't remember seeing one on Bill's board, but maybe I missed it.
The white symbol is in Crypt Ghast's reminder text, which isn't considered for color identity - the same way mono-white decks can run Blind Obedience.
@@DiamondDovahkiin they can because the white mana symobol is in the reminder text of exort and reminder text isn't considered as cardtext.
Tasigur is Roger's, and he's playing Yidris.
Do u have deck lists for all 4?
kokusho decklist please
Daren Bajuka Bogging Roger when Bill just put a Hulk in the graveyard was odd choice.
Integer Devourer he was probably afraid of a combo
I thoroughly enjoyed this
Using Grim return like that was such a good play
Bill have really sweet playmate. I need one xD
Bills sol ring didnt die to Disk and it then allowed him to cast living death.
still waiting on that kokusho decklist :p
#allblacktable and ALMOST #nobluetable. Damn It Roger!
I hope this video doesn’t get demonetized for that Naruto playmat
can anyone recommend a good infect deck with atraxa as commader
living death in this game was insane, lmao

I also have to admit, that I have a new most hated commander, with Kokusho just being too strong, for what he costs.
Daren's playmat... Is awesome
Im confused on how Victor lost. Couldn't he just sacrifice prior to his turn the card/creature that would make him lose 2 life?
Are you sure the link you listed for Meren is the correct decklist? A lot of cards played in this game aren't in there: Sheoldred, Razaketh, Living Death, Spore Frog...
This is what he sent me
The list must not be properly updated then... oh, well. :(
omg darens playmate is awesome
That was such a great notion thief
Ah whisper, everyone’s favorite bene gesserit.
Sam O’Nella music makes me sad now. I wish our king was back
Daaamn so much graveyard shenanigans
Best of luck with moving!

Because of this game I have since added kokusho to my whisper deck (victor) lesson learned
Rogers deck needs to be featured again
Three necromancers walk into a bar
Victor couldve activated Whisper in reponse to the Preist and put the Garry into play. He wouldve drained enough to maybe eek out the win with that board
Kokusho won! YAY!
My looooove
So spoilers

It sounds like I’m gonna need a kokusho for my Teysa karlov deck
Don’t feel bad for the Yidris player!! They always have something hidden..
And sometimes they just have a way to clone a creature or thier turn.
Ven Gray I just think Cascade is a broken mechanic, its really good as a one of two of but when your entire deck revolves around it its busted
Very little on this earth feels better than bojuka bogging a meren player
Sweet game
I Want Rogers Playmat NOW!
Kitty Tasigur is pretty sweet

Best way to go
What a fun game.
didnt realize Victor's playmat is the Libertarian Party symbol
More merin ayy
So

Kokusho
I'm late, but shouldn't Bill have lost six life from reanimating Izoni?? He should've died to Yahenni and never untapped with Living Death!
4 Black decks walk into a bar...
that was a lot of black mana
Bill misplayed so hard
am I the only person who didnt get the old intro?

Why didnt the Whisper player extort ever? He could have gained like 12 life in one turn and he left the mana open for literally nothing.
I totally forgot this. I should have done that to stay alive longer
