You re-opened scars I have from my first EDH experience. Playing a Roon deck at my former LGS against the three owners of the store (one of the was and still is a friend of mine, and let me borrow one of his decks), and one of the three was using a Venser deck that kept bouncing and countering everyone until the guy finished everyone with that same detestable combo you did at 1 health. Screw you... I mean I love but wouldn't be mad if you stepped into a poddle of cold water with socks on your feet to feel a coldness similar to that of your heart.
I've been watching for years, and this is by far my favorite game of yours. I love your Zedru deck, and it doesn't often get to display power this way. Seizan is 100% my kind of commander, and to see it establish such an oppressive boardstate was enjoyable. Lastly, killing someone with Swan Song is the kind of play I would strive to make. I'm the kind of player to flash in Dictate of the Twin Gods when someone is attacking another player if it means that the defender will die as a result.
Yeah I'm "that guy" as well. Once played a game where one guy was wailing on another with a 4/4 double-strike. He didn't want to lose a creature, so he decided to take 8. I then decided that it was time to cast Tainted Strike.
I understand that would be the case for every other player but considering Trevor is the Rites of Flourishing's controller shouldn't his trigger go on the stack first and only then Matt's triggers?
Land tax says "may draw", meaning he didn't have to draw those lands and take the damage right? Or do you have to draw them as long as you have them in your library?
Nit-picky thought: Trevor should have resolved the Teferi's Puzzle Box trigger first, then the Rites of Flourishing trigger, as the triggers should be placed on the stack in APNAP order.
Sorry, I had to head out early in the morning and forgot to add it. It's in the about section, but I'll link it here: tappedout.net/mtg-decks/teysa-advisor-of-death/
@@TheKamikozi321 Very cool list. It's a shame you got stuck on lands in this game. If you don't mind me asking, what were some of the significant card changes you made?
When Matt attacks you at 12:23, he didn't pay for Ghostly Prison. Granted, he had more than enough mana to do so and it didn't affect the outcome, but still.
Phyrexian Unlife allows you to get into negative life and once you go into negatives damage is treated as if its source had infect, but, because of Solemnity, he couldn't get poison counters.
Frank does something wrong with his deck. Teysa have so much potential and with that start and the overwhelming draw in the entire game he should be able to done more.
Ok, I understand this, and I don't want to be a dick. But I have to ask: Why regna if you don't gain life so often and she have 6 cmc? You don't hit mortify, Utter End, merciless eviction, austere command or vindicate in all this draws? Or even a one dork with afterlife (or similar ability) to create a boardstate? In my comment I don't blame your player skills, even with some misplay of your part, but I really think that you should be able to get a answer after so many draws in any deck. I'll sorry in forward if you see this reply stupid of my part.
At first I didn't realize the combo was Mind over Matter + Temple Bell, since the final remark was just "Play Temple Bell and combo off", so explaining the combo a little bit more would have been nice. But it was a nice group-huggy game all-in-all!
Pretty cool you won with Zedruu though I play it only to eff up two players and help one win. I never expect to win with it. I use Zudruu as control and punishment.

Frank here, I'm still upset about that swan song.
"Frank stumbled" You mean you screwed him over with a counter and killed him. lol.
I appreciate Matt's commitment to have all Kamigawa swamps.
Matt always tries to pick appropriate basics for each of the decks he builds. I really dig it.
Used to be the greatest thief in the multiverse... too soon man haha
Dammit! Love the Swan Song moment! Made me LOL and applaud to your well-earned win.
i seen the swan and lol'd so hard

When you Sunbirded off your decree into a solemnity I was just like “Okay geez you win Muddstah we get it”
> Hits Solemnity off of Decree
"... Just as planned."
"Keikaku doori!"
Starting to like that goblin laugh at the beginning 😊
Zedru is such a unique and fun deck to play! I love it! 😄
Teysa Turboing to value...wow...
Matt is essentially playing Mono Black Nekusar :3
Solemnity just enables so many locks...
Somehow nobody paid for the Ghostly Prison. But its hidden pretty well to be honest. nice game :)
At that point they couldn't really cast spells, so it's not like the needed the mana haha.
That was an exciting game! I love seeing Zedruu in action
HAHAHAH that swan song had me giggling in public making people stare at me. GG
I’m always excited for Monday’s and Thursday’s, thanks dad
7:10 Shouldn't Teferi's Puzzle Box's trigger resolve before Rites of Flourishing's trigger?
Rites is on top of the stack above puzzle box due to turn order. It resolves first, then puzzle box
The background music was a bit depressing this time around :P
"Athereos" I know you do it for me, much love Muddstah.
Nit-picky thought: Trevor should have resolved the Teferi's Puzzle Box trigger first, then the Rites of Flourishing trigger, as the triggers should be placed on the stack in APNAP order.
Oscar Chan He actually realized that after the game, but sadly that was too late :(
Yeah! Real goblin noise!!! I love it.
I think whenever Trevor does damage or destroys something he should have to flex into the 📷
8:40 to soon man too soon
Poor Dack. Pouring one out for you buddy.
seizan! zedruu never smashed that play button so fast.
Hey, how many decks do you own Muddstah? Would be fun to see you go through them.
I've got a bunch. Maybe I'll cover that in my 50k celebration video?
@@MTGMuddstah I'd love that :)
Minor correction I think trevor has to draw and then scry with temple of malady since the non active players horn of greed trigger would resolve first
I'm very interested in Frank's list, do you know if he's going to put it online?
Sorry, I had to head out early in the morning and forgot to add it. It's in the about section, but I'll link it here: tappedout.net/mtg-decks/teysa-advisor-of-death/
Frank here, the list has changed quite a bit since the filming of this, but has the same game plan.
@@TheKamikozi321 Very cool list. It's a shame you got stuck on lands in this game. If you don't mind me asking, what were some of the significant card changes you made?
@@Panther7718 Added massacre wurm, the nim deathmantle+Cathion combo, and more recursion to get my creatures back.
@MTG Muddstah Which card from War of the Spark are you most excited for?
Firelord300156 All of them! Like a good third of the set will see action in some kind of deck.
@@MTGMuddstah Nice! Personally I am super hyped for Feather!
How fortuitous! I was wondering where to start with my Zedruu rebuild.
When Matt attacks you at 12:23, he didn't pay for Ghostly Prison. Granted, he had more than enough mana to do so and it didn't affect the outcome, but still.
That ending was savage.
Best part of Monday
I couldn’t tell you why but I like Trevor. He seems like a cool dude!
You like Trevor because he IS a cool dude!
Return of the true generic goblin noise!
grat vid but you might be more careful with the lightning. it was very hard to see matt's battlefield and yours too. great game
Ahhh where's the music?
Kuri is that honoka I see
I don’t think Matt payed for ghostly prison at 12:22 when he attacked with the erebos.
Music was great!!
I was hoping to see some sweet cascading with Yidris. Alas.
I miss playing Zedruu, but the decks I built with her never really worked the way I hoped.
Thats why nekusar esque strategies are so dangerous.
seizan still looking cool, but the lack of wraths for zedruu's board really was a problem. nice combo
This is why I love Zedruu players just when you think we’re dead we win out of nowhere
Big Sleezy group thug. Love it.
Has there always been music in the background?
I might just be tired but i have to be honest and say it was a little disturbing (:
Great game though!
I didnt see the temple bell coming !
Yes more zedruuuuuuu
How many times has that Phyrexian Unlife saved your skin by now?
About as many times I've missed Rhystic Study triggers.
damn, making me wanna play zedru...
On the other hand, I play fair magic...great comment! After that silly start, draws fetch land for plains no less!
Paul Jimerson “I play fair magic” proceeds to ply mind over matter
@@BangThatGong Mind over matter doesn't do much prhet than win the game.

You can't cast Rites of Flourishing with that lands.
Without music this sounds scary

Phyrexian unlife
I didn’t know you could tap urborg
Frank does something wrong with his deck. Teysa have so much potential and with that start and the overwhelming draw in the entire game he should be able to done more.
Frank here, sometimes you just don't draw the rite cards. I also, couldn't get anything going because of the puzzle box.

Wait it's just the 4 first minutes, woops
It's a lower volume level. Sorry!

People aren't very comfortable having their faces / voices on camera.
Gotcha
that was one nasty Swan song....

Who the hack is Athereos?!
I don’t think Matt paid to attack you near the end? Not that it mattered but still.

I go into it in a bit more details in the Game Review.
He explains it, literally 20 seconds later.
Hoho, I missed it, I probably stopped at like 5 seconds before the longer explanation. :)
"Frank draws 11 cards, which means he loses 33 life"
EXCUSE ME, BUT WHERE THE FUCK DID THAT DAMAGE COME FROM?!?!
What a way to kill frank
Probably the best game I've seen come out of this channel. It had everything! Continue to keep up the good work!
This was disgusting and I love it XD
You can't use defector during other peoples' turns
When did that happen? Usually people passed him around on Upkeeps.
@@MTGMuddstah oh didn't hear it well... My apologies!
No worries!
You didn't even need to win via combo XD
A monoblack deck can't remove enchantments unless they have like 3 specific artifacts, lol.
Or both Ulamogs
@@DarkEinherjar Yup. Thing is, every single colorless enchantment removal costs A LOT of mana.
Yes. This is how they balance things out: you want an effect your color doesn't normally have? Gotta pay more mana for it.
@@DarkEinherjar Yeah, i know. Thing is, even in casual that is a steep cost.
With coffers you can certainly pay for a Perilous Vault.
Slivers Slivers ... pls
Why Zedruu as the commander, though? Doesn’t seem to be too relevant to the deck. Honestly, I would run either Numot or Narset.
She can function as a very roundabout way of getting card draw.

Land Tax goes on the stack before the Puzzle Box does, so the tax should resolve last.
Land Tax happens during Upkeep while Puzzle Box happens during your Draw Step.
top 10 for me? lol
In my opinion omniscience is a very lazy card. Not problems with people playing it though :)
First !
