Pair this with a 200 usd 14 core 13500 and you have the king mid-buget pc that can handle games and render workloads both. Many will say that the 3060ti, 6800xt are better. But just to let you know that 4060 is almost trailing behind the 3060ti around 5 to 10 fps give or take. 6800xt is definitely much better BUT only for gaming, the raster performance bugs for workloads is horrendous. 4060 may appear to be behind the 3060ti but the new architecture gives it more than 30% faster performance in render workloads like Vray, Blender, etc. Games are not everything, if you only play games then just buy a console or 6800xt, same shit. If you use render softwares, 4060 is your best bet for 250 usd. Many reviewers are bashing the 4060 as a shit card, but these same reviwers will praise the cards after a couple months and discount with "revisit reviews" of the card. They do this shit all the time and they do it the most with amd cards. Don't forget that all these reviewer gave the 6800xt a shit review at launch, no?

It's so odd, I think Last of Us pt.1 used up around 12.5GB of VRAM in one benchmark I watched (1440p low), yet some (subjectively) better looking games use up around 6 or 7? Where did such a disparity come from?

I've always read horror stories of bad PC ports, and I guess The Last of Us is no exception. I have a Steam Deck, which is essentially a PS4 in the palm of your hand, and I do notice that it struggles to run this game on even medium settings. Other games, like Uncharted, run smoother. So, I'm not sure if the focus on hardware is the issue.

yep this is my new build gigabyte 4060 windforce + ryz 5 5600x (upgraded from 1660 super/2600x) except for a bios flash i didnt need to neither change my MB (B450) nor my 500W PSU my benchmark results went from 59% gaming,83%desktop,54%workstation to 115%, 100%, 107% i cost me more money 590$ (i live in north africa so any electronics cost higher hir than usa/euro market) but i got to only change gpu cpu without touching to other parts

if nvidia were to put more vram then people won't upgrade more often and that means nvidia makes less money. They don't wanna make the same mistake they did with 1080 ti, they gave it 11 gbs of vram.
@@mrerror3642FPS isnt really constant. The FPS you often see on the counter is the average fps sometime its higher sometime is lower. When the fps is at the bottom 1% we call it the 1% low. Here you can see it drops down to 10-30 fps and cause micro stutter.
Great Combo upgraded from a XFX 5700xt and the 4060smokes it and even faster then the 3060 also and less TDP power draw then Both cards combines and 18%faster on FPS

I can tell that and in that case 4060 ti is worth it to get instead of 4060 as long price is very close haha. To be honest I am surprised with how 4060 performs comparing to 3060 and previous 60 tier GPUs (when I say 60 tier I mean 960, 1060, 2060, 3060, etc). Nvidia nowadays is focusing on DLSS more than raw power for their GPUs which people complain that 4060 and 3060 are almost same but it is not true because 4060 is made to boost fps while 3060 was still on initial stage in boosting frames. Huge differences between 4060 and its previous 60 tiers can be found through fps by using the DLSS feature.
