I cried watching this, seriously. Your mom is super super supportive of you and dont even care because she know no matter who you be, you are still her kids. Tbh i told my mom that i think i 'might' be transgender and want her to approve me to go to the therapy but she end up screaming on my face and kick me out from the house(i live with my aunt now), i am so glad you are happy now and have a loving mom like her
The minute your mom started talking I fell in love with her. My mom is just as supportive as yours is, but your mom is just so understanding of the gender and identity concepts that it pshhwoooo! It blew my mind.
you are a mirror image of your mom in the sense of being an all around beautiful person. I admire the relationship you both seem to have and it reminds me so much of my relationship with my mom. Glad to know both our moms rule! we are very lucky indeed :]
I love that your mom's open enough to be willing to talk to other parents about this, and open enough to even do these videos in the first place. Kudos to your mom for being so amazing
Sky, I'd like to thank both your mom and you. For the past few years you have been an inspiration to me. It's almost hard to believe I don't know you when I remember we've never met in person before since I have watched you. Anyway, I just recently came out to my mom and I had her watch all three parts to your video and she seems to really understand and get it. She even laughed at the "Mike" joke. Thank you so much! You have been such a wonderful help to me and others.
Sky, I love you, man. :) As a person, as a vocal component of the community, I love you. I envy your generation that you can talk about this, share this, show others who are lost and confused that they can find themselves and have clarity. Your mom is a rock star in my books. Rock on, mom. Rock on!
This is a great video, full of good advice and a great reference for other parents of transpeople. This Q&A is really nice to watch, because you are both so open about everything.
You are very lucky and blessed to have such a supportive mother!! Family may drive you crazy, but they're always there for you. Be glad you have a mother figure in your life... some people don't :-(
@MandyJo717 yes she does. i'll remind her to check it - a lot has been going on in the family + the holidays, so that could be why. she just mentioned to me earlier in the week about having a few email conversations going on, so i'm sure she still checks it.
Your mom is fantastic!! My mom is so closed-minded and she cannot put her own differences aside. She says she will NEVER accept me. i wish I had a mom like yours.
Watching this reminds me of what my late grandfather used to say when I was young: "When I was a little girl..." and he'd proceed to tell me a story of when he was a kid. It was a joke, maybe to make his youngest granddaughter feel closer to her very old grandfather but I can't help but think of him saying that when I watch trans people's videos.
Awesome. I always love your videos and you are an inspiration. Just to have your mom so supportive is awesome and awesome to finally see her. I am always looking forward to a new video from you. You are my favorite transman on youtube. :D
You should do it gently. Ive never personally gone through it but if your parents know that this is really what you want then they should be ok. It might take them some getting used to and give them time to be angry , upset etc. You are their child and they should acept you for you and what you want to be! It might be scary but if it scares you to say something then say it fast and feel relieved after! Its better than living in a body you hate. im sorry if i wasnt helpful i havnt gone through it
I'm trans. I'm 17 and I told my mom straight up, "I don't feel comfortable in my own skin. I feel like I've been trapped in the wrong body and I'm not really ME. I don't want to be a girl mom, I want to be what I feel comfortable as--a guy."
Your mom is amazing, I really envy you, I hope my mom comes along like that and I can talk to her, because I still can't and I've been out to her for 2 years.
Hey, I need your advice! I came out to my mom as being trans and she started crying and blaming herself and she slapped me and left. 0_0 Then she came back an hour later and said that my doctor called and said I had a VERY high level of testosterone for a girl so my mom set up an appointment for me to be put on female hormones but I've been planning to get on T for years....How can I talk her out of it? I've tried so many things. T_T
When you say you had questions about your gender (Your mom said you didn't just come out as Trans) who did you ask? I'm really confused about who I am and I don't know who to talk to :/ xxx
Your mom is amazing! You should hug her all the time and tell her how awesome she is! ^_^ I'm not a trans at all, but I find all these videos interesting. I've never felt uncomfortable with my female body, just the weight that early puberty caused. xD I only identify as "me"-- I suppose some people would call it androgynous.
I wake up every morning and look in the mirror with disgust. I hate my body, so much! I want to be a boy. I plan on getting the appearance but I'm honestly scared of how my parents(and the rest of my family) will take it. I came out as bisexual last year, they barely just OK'ed it. I'm scared no one will accept me :c I need some serious advice. Please! xoxo
I have a question...will you have to continue taking testosterone for the rest of your life, or is it a sort of step thing that once you achieve the desired result you're good to go?
your mom is awesome.... the relationship you have with your mom is outstanding... don't ever take that for granted....
