I love these chats! It sounds a lot like me. If I have too much emotional chaos in my world I tend to not make art at all. I will feel too overwhelmed. Being happy and at peace in my creative space works for me. It was nice seeing you again. I really love your altered sketchbooks. ❤😊

I hear you on this - I’m having another break as family are all off and making the most of summer break - I really need a routine to be prolific creating , peace and calm too - but when I’m not making art I’m still thinking about it , storing up ideas….

Art should always evoke an emotion, whether it is from the viewer of the art, or the creator of the art. It has to have something that moves the person to think more deeply or see something differently. My 2cents. :)

That’s the ideal for me- and get that will be different for everyone. I hope I can hang on to feeling free/ letting my emotions out when I get back to a routine in term time

I like the way you think of your art as emotional expression, at times. Reminds me of what art therapy is. My cousin is a professional art therapist. Such interesting ways to do and look at art.

Cheers, - I feel like art fills different spaces for me at different times , I’m glad I’ve been able to change up my processes - it also helps me fit art into times when maybe I haven’t got the bandwidth for finished pieces and paintings on canvas

(I was sonyasmixedmedia) I've been going through the same thing. Like you I love doing all sorts of art but recently I have found I'm less stressed and feel more at ease doing alot of pattern in my art. I also feel the more I look at Art on social media the more confused I get with myself in what I want to create, so I'm also leaning away from instagram. Also just want to say that double page in your altered sketchbook is wonderful. ❤

Thank you - I’m really appreciative of the Instagram break - agree easier to get in touch with the artist you are now if you are not bombarded with everyone else’s tastes and opinions.

Great video and I admire your honesty about how you feel. I’ve just got a copy of The Artists Way, I can’t remember if you or someone else recommended it . I’m putting off beginning the 3 pages of morning journaling, but I’ve flicked through, it looks interesting but it’s commitment.
    Thank you for sharing.

Hi thank you ! I read that book years ago , I know a lot of artists are reviewing it at the moment- personally a few bits worked for me but I have kind of modified to suit my personality more - I prefer journalling more on a whim when I need it - I like the 3 pages idea , and I get rid of this sort of journaling as I’ve no need to keep it . I feel like I’m pretty bad at consistency….

I have time today to do art but you know what, I just don’t feel like doing any, Isn’t that always the way.

I know- this other thing I like to do if I’ve time but know motivation is just say I’ve got 5 mins to doodle / play then if still not feeling it o can stop but often it’s the getting started - saying that I’m yet again on a break but feel did need to recharge and just chill with family / read etc
