Those guys are flying extremely low and extremely fast. Look around too much and ground will kill you sooner than the enemy. Even if they did know the MiG was behind them, the best tactics would still have been go as fast as possible. Maneuvering would just loose speed and bring the enemy closer.

Yeah, that makes sense. And I think it's cool how he's willing to tell this story now instead of just ignoring it. I'm sure many would do the opposite.
That may seem logical looking at it now. But in a highly stressful situation, we can't always focus and see things clearly. He should have noticed something was wrong but guns on MiG-19 don't carry that much ammo, it's just several seconds of holding down the trigger.
Is the F-4 Phantom available to play? If it is, I'd like to see you recreate USAF Major Phil Handley's historic supersonic gun kill on a MiG-19 over North Vietnam.
Phantom is sadly not yet available. There is a mod but it uses F-15 cockpit I think. Supposedly, ED is developing a module and a few months ago one of their big shots said they could release it in about two years. Since it is my favorite military aircraft, when it becomes available, my next 20 or 30 videos are going to be about the Phantom I think 😁 Thank you for your comment and suggestion!
Mig19 is basically all I fly in DCS. This one hit home when learning how to engage anything with the slow moving 30mm it has. Quick question for you. How did you deploy the drag chute? The keybind for deploying it always jettisons the entire chute and I find hitting the actual button with my mouse awkward since I don't have a 3rd hand
Hey, thanks for your comment! I fly several airplanes.I haven't exactly mastered MiG-19, but three out of my four most successful videos feature it so perhaps I should concentrate on it a bit more :) Your question got me thinking a bit and I went to check it. Pressing P key on keyboard seems to deploy the chute nicely with wheels on the ground. Pressing P again jettisons it. But when in the air, pressing P seems to deploy the chute, you hear the noise effect but you don't see it deployed. Pressing P again seems to jettison this 'invisible' chute.
Portrayal of Indian Su-7s are a little unrealistic. They are flying straight and level in close formation like target drones without any evasive maneuvers even after the mig-19 was engaging them. I wonder what really happened. Whatever happened in this battle, we know what the outcome of the war was. 90,000 plus pakistanis surrendered and became PoWs, Pakistan formally signed the 'Instrument of Surrender' and the country of Bangladesh was born!
Actually, it is very much realistic. People watch GS videos and think that every time aircraft meet over the battlefield, it ends up in a dogfight. It rarely ever does. Su-7 is a bomber. If you try to maneuver you lose speed and energy. And then you are in a maneuvering fight against a fighter. Not smart. The best thing for the Indian pilots to do was to stay as low and as fast as possible. And if any sensible pilot was chasing them, it would have worked perfectly because Alam was reckless and wasn't watching his fuel state. They were deep in Indian airspace, maybe they were leading him into an AAA trap or something? I really don't think that Alam was making anything up. He wasn't trying to make himself look great, quite the opposite.
I have talked with former Indian Su-7 pilots. It looks realistic. The Su-7 was leading him away from the conflict zone, to a trap possibly. Su-7s are quite bad in maneuvering, so it's a legit good tactic to lure the MiG with such a straight run.
If you have had you fill of appeasing your larger viewership base from India I suggest you may also consider re enacting a few aerial engagements from the 65 war
Nope! There used to be a mod a couple of years ago but it's no longer available. There's many types missing in DCS, some guys make mods to fill those gaps (such as F-105 that was released a few days ago). Thanks for the comment.
Same thing. To most people, those are MiG-19s. Their Chinese designation is less important. Vietnamese models also came from China but Istvan Toperczer calles them MiG-19s and not F-6. Or sometimes they are called J-6 as well. Just terminology.
I don't understand one thing, that after the bombing, the planes didn't climb to a higher altitude and the Mig-19 could simply no chance. Mig-19 fly max. Mach 1.25 and Su-7 Mach 1.7. It is not negligible Su-7 is fighter-bomber. They could use them on "Dogfight" in case of "emergency"
We are not sure exactly at which point the Indian pilots realized there was a MiG on their tail. Could be that they never even did. I think standard procedure was flying low and fast and they stuck to that. It makes aiming more difficult for the pursuer as well.
I wasn't available at the time. There is a mod but all the links were dead so I thought it was out of date. A viewer sent me the files after the video was released.

Seems like all IAF planes were simply there for PAF to practice target shooting ...does the IAF know how to fight or does it simply know to fly as targets if we go by your videos? ?
Oh please, talk to the guy who recently 'warned the viewers' that this was an Indian channel in disguise spreading Indian propaganda, or something along those lines 😁
Do You Have Pakistani Pilot MM Alam Historical Fight With Indian if you have please send me
No, I think he was fighting Hunters and we don't have them in DCS.
Check this out
That is j-6. actually
That's what they are called by the Chinese. But export designation is F-6 and that's what Tahir Alam used in his interview.
But really, it's a MiG-19 😊
F-6
SU-7s Not 22s
This is actually Su-17. But it was only used because Su-7 wasn't available so this is an approximation.
@Showtime112 all videos are beautiful please have a video on F-104 vs Mystere it was a huge air to air combat !! Sq Leader Devvyaa a great aviator ....
@showtime112 if there are Mig 23 BN, or Mig 27 Flogger make videos on the Indo Pak Kargil conflict !!!
Thank you for your comment! Your suggestion sound interesting but limited assets in DCS make it kinda hard to do. F-104 exists as a mod with 'borrowed' cockpit so it's only good for external shots. Mystere doesn't exist. Sabre is kinda similar but Pakistan used Sabres so that would be a bit weird.
From the Indo-Pakistani conflicts, there is the MiG-19, MiS-21 (although a later variant) and F-86 Sabre. There are F-104 and Su-7 mods and it seems we might have a Hunter some day.
Those Sukhois are SU-22 , in 1971 India only used the SU-7.
Actually, they are Su-17s. But they are the only one of the Fitter family available in DCS World so I approximated it.
That's not a Sukhoi 7, it is a Sukhoi 17 or 22.
True. What do you think, why that's so?
@@showtime112
May be the Combat Simulator does not have the Sukhoi SU-7 module loaded.
Surprised that he could not down a sluggish slow turning Sukhoi SU-7.
@@maikbanner7552 DCS doesn't have Su-7 as a standard asset. There's a mod, a rather old one and when I was looking for it, all the download links were dead so I used Su-17 as a stand in. A viewer sent me a link for Su-7 after this video.
As for the surprise, that is the point of the whole story. Pakistani pilot forgot to switch the gunsight to gyro mode in his excitement. That's why he missed so badly and only figured out his mistake after returning to the base.
@@showtime112
Even if he shot it down, nothing great.
Su-7 is a High Speed Aircraft, not good at low altitude, though capable of High speed.
@@maikbanner7552 Air to air kills are rare in jet age. And they extremely rarely come as a result of an elaborate dogfight. Most of them are much more like this.
And the Sukhois would have escaped thanks to their speed if the Pakistani pilot hadn't been reckless and chased them far too long. He only made it back on fumes.
This Pakistani pilot was terrible... Never drop fuel tanks when chasing a bandit in afterburner, especially one that doesn't know you are there... And aim above them to compensate for the round drop on the cannons when you forget to uncage your sight and always engage the trailer first...
Well, he was young and excited. One of the reasons I like this story is that it's real. Military aviation is not only about aces and shooting enemies down. It's also about situations such as this one.
It's not with that kind of pilot you can win a war...😑
He was young, eager and inexperienced. You can find those in any air force.
@@showtime112 It depends of the pilots formation. In OTAN, with 180h/year/pilot, it should be difficult to see that kind of mistake, though mistake is human. But clearly in western countries pilots level is higher, except for Russia and Israël.
@@touchofevil3608 Generally, that's true. Plus, there's probably less of a 'political' influence on pilots' careers.
@@showtime112 Anyway your videos are great, seriously. Could you do one about Turkish F16D shot down by Greek Mirage 2000 in 96 ? The only official loss of a F16 in a dogfight and the only one victory of a Mirage 2000. Thank you very much ! I personnaly am an armourer on French Rafale.😉
@@touchofevil3608 I'm glad you like the videos. Mirage vs F-16 is a very good idea, I'll see what I can found about this subject. I have recently received a lot of attention from India and Pakistan. Maybe I can now stir some trouble between Greeks and Turks 😁 Cool job you have! I'm from Croatia, our air force is buying Rafales. Used ones so it might be some you worked on.

Thank you for your comment! I will try to make videos about Pakistani Air Force when I find some cool stories involving modules I have (F-86, MiG-19, F-16.....)

F 86 World Record is shot down 5 jets less then in minute in 1965
pilot name mm alam
@@mudassarrahman2819 wow! But this is mathematically impossible isn't it?
@@Deadpool-rw1pk M M Alam (Little Dragon). Hailed from Pakistan. Legend of PAF and national hero. 18 March is his death anniversary. During 1965 war he downed 9 Indian fighter jets, 4 of which he destroyed in his F-86 Sabre on Sept 7 within 30 seconds. An unbeaten world record.
@@mudassarrahman2819 cool! That's actually impressive, but I did some research and found out that mm alam shot down 3 Indian jets , not 9 and that took him more than a minute , because thats mathematicaly and practically impossible. But indeed, he was a great PAF pilot.
The AI is as dumb as a bucket of...rivets.
Actually, they were set to 'ignore threat' so that they replicate behavior of real pilots in this situation. Escaping at high speed and low altitude was actually the best tactics. Alam only caught up with them because he wasn't thinking about his fuel state.
I think many DCS players or viewers of certain YT channels covering it would be surprised to know that in reality, pilots much more often chose to disengage from combat instead of dogfighting.
@@showtime112 Thanks for clearing that up.
