DEFINITELY a very true sermon
For the first time in 14 years I do not feel guilty when learning about money/finances/wealth. I have always been made to believe having wealth I will be/am evil because it means I'm putting God last (and even if I'm not, it will make me a person that turns away from God). I am faithful in tithing and saving yet feel guilty with what is left over and treating myself and others. thank you for this sermon, I've paused it a hundred times to make notes!

I don't understand why it has to be given to a church each week? I save my tithe up throughout the year, and when I find ppl who really need help I have the funds to help. It's so awesome to see someone give praise to God bc they were abt to be evicted bc God allowed someone to anonymously pay it. Anyway, just my thoughts
What about giving to mission?
@@georgefalconer6103 the Bible says they brought their tithes to the House of the Lord, so I think that giving to Christ based missions or organizations is fine based off the text. After all, we're giving it to God and NOT the organization, God is blessing the organization thru out tithes. How they use the $$ is between them and God

Tell me Pastor Warren - You say that if I'm not saving money then I'm spending too much. But...every penny I earn goes into my basic monthly living expenses. I've begun tithing but I do so very fearfully because I know it will mean that I won't have enough to cover my living expenses. I don't eat out. I don't buy a coffee or soda on my way into work. I don't buy things for myself, not even new clothing or shoes. I budget every single penny after I make that tithe and often worry how I will put gas in my car to get to work. I don't have credit cards and cannot get a loan of any kind. How then should I begin to save?
+Lucinda Baker I'm no expert on money or the Bible, but I thought I'd offer my experience in case it helps you. Tithing isn't really about the money - God doesn't need it. It may sound overly simple, but I have found that two things really helped me overcome the fear you're living with that I once lived with too. The first was the principle of thanking God continuously for the "little". In other words, "Thank you, God that I was able to have that meal today/gas in my car/etc." (Remember the story of the loaves and fishes - God multiplies what you thank Him for.) The second thing I learned was that I'm not really in control of anything, so there's no point in worrying about it -especially $$. That doesn't mean to spend it irresponsibly, but worrying doesn't change things, so I started praying instead and offering up that worry to God. I'm still a work in progress, but your comment reminded me so much of things I used to think, I had to comment back :)

God has been working with me on this issue for a long time and I have allowed fear, and a false sense of control, keep me from being fully obedient. Milan, I am teaching students on financial bible here in Jakarta. this video is not yet my recommendation yet unless explain more.
It is a test of faith. Pastor Rick explains it. He says with every offering you are thanking God for your past, honoring God first in the present with the offering and trusting him with your future. I have been paying tithing for a little while now. I see blessings I have never seen before. God doesn't need your money however he wants each of us to know that he provides if you trust.

+Matias azali Great question. I was actually writing a letter to my son whom chooses to be agnostic. He will be heading off to college soon. I told him to have the spirit of giving money or paying it forward. I believe if he does he will still be serving others and humbling himself. He is an old soul in young body. He is not materialistic or concerned with the things of the world but dislikes religion. And in the end it actually is about the relationship with God. I choose to gather with others in a congregation because I know God is there when to or more gather in his name. But that is me.

This is my life’s testimony, God always provide for my every need, this is His promise to me eversince I follow the principle of tithing. Since I retired 11 years ago, my retirement pay is still intact, I gave 10% right on top of it. I invested my money in the bank and on all the interest income I get I tithe 10% and God took of the rest of it. Until now I have not touched my retirement money. Glory to God

there is nothing here that seems to help me. I'm looking for how you manage your money as well. I cannot see how you can manage your money it is just too complicated and too time consunming to get all the information you need to manage it properly . If you cannot even get easily to the bottom of how much you have and who is responsible for what then how can yiou manage it. It seems to me that all the teaching of finance is all designed for people with lost of time lots of control and lots of information or intelligence. If you cannot get to the bottom of these then you are deemed to be doing abad job and there is nothinbg you can do about doing abad job at it you are just a bad person witrh no choicve in the matter

I don't get this. Why would I work hard to buy a used car for 500 bucks and transfer to my children who transfer to their cousins. If he says car is just to take you from point A to B, then why is he not wearing used cloths, eating sardines only, or living in a cabin after all they are just to cover our bodies, feeding and shelter over our heads respectively. My car is like a 2nd home to me. If you are okay as a child of the most high the creator of the universe driving a USED CAR ( different if one can not afford it), because you see a new or expensive car as luxury, this is your choice -DON'T PREACH IT! Especially when you are not asking your congregation to pay 2nd hand tithe or not pay tithe at all. Save and save and save, for who? for the children that the Bible says their is no guarantee that they won't go on a spendthrift after our death? We all have what makes us happy and if God has so blessed you that you can afford a new car and yet have enough remaining in your account like Rick Warren, why would you go and buy a used car? When do you want to drive a new car, when you get to heaven? 😬😬. Everything is VANITY, PLUS THE HUGE BANK ACCOUNTS AND INVESTMENTS.. Show love, assist/support those you expect nothing in return from, share, forgive, Live and enjoy life and most importantly make time to worship God with your prayer, praise and /or fasting.
Step One: create a humungous megachurch and hire people to ghost write book after book. Then create alliances with New Age popular gurus and co-write a few more bestsellers.
