- Finally! Here's Part 2 of JJ's rescue story! He had been living at a truck stop in a rural area of Kern County, California for over 4 months. His rescue took almost 3. When he was finally rescued (March 23rd, 2021) he spent nearly 7 months on his own. FYI - There WILL be a Part 3 that will sown how JJ has done in the weeks that followed. Spoiler Alert - He's doing FANTASTIC!

Poor guy, waiting for his person, keeping watch, like he was supposed to, unable to understand why his person is not coming back for him. So many months of vigilance. So clear he was an owned, loved pet at some point. Their loyalty to us and faith in us is heartbreaking. God bless Danny for his patience in getting this boy to come along and trust him slowly - it makes all that needs to happen now so much easier. ❤💛💚💜
JJ looked so worried when he was finally caught within the fences. I cried for him. Then I cried again at how grateful he was to finally be safe. Thank you so much for helping this beautiful but.lonely boy. I wish him well in his new life
I think it's quite clear JJ wanted to go with Danny but found it too difficult to trust a man again. It was a relief for him when the deciding was not his.
You guys sure were patient in catching JJ. Well done. He sure is a beautiful dog and he deserves a safe and loving home for the rest of his life.

People who specialize in cat rescue have helped the cats at this location in the past and will continue to do so. The cat situation there used to be much worse!

I'm bawling out of sheer happiness that JJ is finally safe, the smile on his face was just too special. It's like you finally earned his respect and trust after all that time and he felt good. Thank you so very much for helping this sweet boy.

@@susanmercurio1060 yes, he know how to make it : sat down and wait, wait, wait... with food, however!
I would have put fast acting sedatives in the food and it would have been done week one if not day one. I've seen SO MANY CASES of this exact behaviour by dogs, likely dropped off & abandoned at a spot and all it takes is to force the contact for a few minutes, help him overcome the fear and the dog becomes part of your forever pack.
@@katnip2u you are right for this case. But, sometimes it's difficult to give sedative because of the dog's weakness or no known age. Please, be gentle with my english, not so good... Here, south of France, friend !

Watch Hope for Paws. Rescues same day. Safer to get the dog captured and safe rather than go see them for weeks “ building trust”. Build the trust AFTER you get the dog safe.

I had a cat that beat a German Shepherd like he was a red-headed stepchild. Cats can be formidable. Notice how JJ jumped back.

Danny - the people in your life are so lucky to have you. One of a kind. There are precious few folks who would have the dedication, gentleness, and skill to conduct non-traumatic rescue for tough cases like Mama and JJ. I have now worked on rehab for 3 abused rescue dogs and know just how challenging it is to gain their trust. On the flip side, there is the peace and joy of knowing that you have made a difference to a troubled soul.

Oh, the poor kitties!!! Please don't blame them, they are hungry too! Such a beautiful intelligent dog!! What a beautiful rescue!! JJ really wanted to be rescued, he just didn't know it until the gate was closed. Anxious to see part 3. And hopefully someone helping the kitties....

Yes those cats did cause some problems but they were a little funny. And the one that came to the camera was so cute! I'm so glad these dogs have Danny on their side. Great job to all that helped.
Thank you for your patience and perseverance. It took me five years to be able to touch my feral cat. Now, six years later, I can drag him to me and hug him. I still can't hold him for longer than 10 seconds or so, but there's still time. He's worth it.

What I really love about JJ's rescue? Nobody ever gave up on him 🥰 - he was fed by so many people 🥰🤗 - Danny's patience 😍 - JJ being able to trust again - AND: JJ is finally safe 💖💖💖! He is such a beautiful dog - I am so happy he survived so long without being hurt!

I think none of us had any idea of how special a dog that JJ would turn out to be. It could have gone so many different ways. Turns out the JJ has such a good sweet docile heart. Life will be good from here on out. JJ lived happily ever after.

It's just like thousands of carefully done rescues. The dog really wants to be rescued. They just need to have their trust earned. I'm touched by all animal rescue stories but, JJ's story really sat with me in such a profound way. I saw such a lonely and sad little guy. We'll never know what he went through and why he seems so afraid to trust. I can't thank you enough for giving JJ a 2nd chance! No doubt JJ is a very smart boy. I admire your well of patience Danny in getting him to trust you, No need to apologize for the dark footage - this is real-life rescue. Your videos show the nitty gritty parts that The Dodo et al leaves out. Much hard work to regain the trust of a dog who may have been betrayed by his humans before.

We first met JJ on January 2nd. He was rescued on March 23rd.

As I sit here with my 2 loved dogs snoring away on the sofa. Seeing JJ sat alone in a big field was heart wrenching and it made me realise what a lonely life he's had, and how smart he was to survive all those months. Even with his chunky frame he looked so small and vulnerable. Thank you for your dedication, to everyone involved. You're amazing. Without seeing video #3 I know things only got better for this handsome chap. I look forward to the video.

I know what you mean. My heart broke for JJ and how lonely it must have been for him surviving alone. These videos always make me think of my dog who was rescued after he was just born off the streets in Tijuana along with his litter and transferred to a rescue in San Diego. Knowing the life he enjoys now, how spoiled he is now, and the security he has, I sometimes think what if wasn't rescued and was forced to live on the streets. Where would he be know. At least I know where my dog is, and I am glad that JJ is know safe and we know where he is.
