    I wonder if I was put into a strange cell, full of strangers, if I wouldn't be on full alert too. I realise that nit everyone has the time to help an animal adjust this way. A huge thankyou to every life you try for, for everyone you bring love to, show compassion for, help make a safer future for. Every individual is worth it. And every individual reflects this back to you. You mean everything to everyone you reach out to 💖💖💖

    Thank you for caring for him, but a few points when he was aggressive his tail was wagging, and he'd obviously been abused. He always smiled too. I think it's rubbish they have to put dogs down because no one comes forward for them. I understand the reality of it all, but think if I donate to an animal rescue I don't want them to lose their lives because it's too long for them to find a home. Anyway thank you to all of the people involved in his rescue.

    Nothing aggressive about his stares, just sadness! He's focusing on getting another treat. Thank you C.A.R.L. for seeing normal dog behaviour. Why would rescuers call in Animal Control?

    • @chocolate_squiggle
      @chocolate_squiggle 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Isn't it obvious? As much as they want to help that dog, it's irresponsible to leave it on the street after having displayed aggressive tendencies. Imagine it did attack someone it thought was a threat, it might even be put down immediately after such an event so it's better for everyone AND the animal for it to be put in the shelter. I don't get why so many animal lovers can't be rational about things as well.

    The only dogs Ive seen fail.....are the ones who have been put down cuz owners\ shelters have given up or made snap decisions. This boy was clearly fearful, it just takes time for many to adjust an work through those feats, etc.

    • @1packatak
      @1packatak 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Denise, not every shelter has the room or finances to keep a dog for months and months. A dog that has issues such as fearfulness or aggression opens that shelter up to a lawsuit should the dog bite/attack after adoption.
      These shelters do the best they can with what they have. If you don’t believe me, go volunteer at one. Or offer to be on the Board of Directors. You will see a situation like this in a totally different light.

      I am so glad he got a home. I just read about him. The problem with adoption is poor people can't afford to adoption. That was a very loving sweet dog I would have loved. However would not have been able to adopt. I when's to a shelter one time. After loosening a dog I was so depressed my Doctor said I needed another one. I will never forget a beautiful black girl. That was also nervous had nervous habit of wanting to nibble my fingers. Recognize she meant no harm and I loved her. For that nervous habit she was probably put down unnecessary. I ask how much to adoption would be. Over a $100.00. I couldn't pay that maybe 25 a month..but no they probably paid more to KILL HER WHEN WE WOULD HAVE BEEN A PERFECT FIT..BEEN 5 YEARS AND I AM CRYING NOW FOR THE SWEET INNOCENT DOG. I WAS GIVEN A PUPPY A FEW MONTHS LATER. HE AND I ARE GO BONDED PERFECT LOVE .BUT JASIBLE AT THE PLACE .PROBABLY GONE BUT I'V NOT FORGOTEN HER BEAUTIFUL SWEET LOVING BLACK DOG. THAT WAS MENT TO BE MY GIRL.

    • @TheHighHeart

      @@1packatak Maybe they should let the dogs go (once neutered) instead of killing them? I think I'd rather fend for myself than be killed because some group of humans decided to take my life. Just saying...

    • @partariothegoth
      @partariothegoth 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheHighHeartI imagine the shelter would then be liable if the dog attacked someone, though, especially if the dog was brought in as a stray, which most shelter dogs are; I also wouldn't be surprised if there were local laws and ordinances in place against releasing stray dogs in many places. It also opens up the dogs for potential cruelty, disease, injury, and/or a much more painful, slow death.

    I’m sure if I was put in a cage I would be growling too. Labeling dogs really can set their adoption back. I’m glad I live in a county that has no kill shelters

    • @radishraccoon3657
      @radishraccoon3657 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The thing with no-kill shelters is that they simply have to turn away animals they don't have room for, so it sort of ends up having the same effect down the road (they also basically have to turn away hard-to-adopt animals because they can't afford to take in animals they'll struggle to place). And most 'kill' shelters are state-funded and thus *obliged* not to turn any animals away, so they simply have to have a euthanasia programme in place.
      Basically, it's all very sad :'(

      I adopted my boi (in the thumbnail) from the local shelter. The shelter staff I who worked with me said they were glad he was getting adopted because he was a staff favorite, but he fit the profile if the dogs they kill most often: he’s a “pit bull” (actually an American Staffordshire Terrier), he’s black, and he wasn’t a puppy (we was about 2-3 years old). Those three strikes against him lowered his chances of getting adopted. Then, while I was signing the papers for him, I was told never to take him to a dog run because he’s dog aggressive.
      4.5 years later he’s the most popular dog on the block (we live in NYC so everyone walks their dog on the street) because of how calm he is. He practically lives in the dog run, I have friends over with their dogs all the time, and he has never shown the slightest sign of aggression for any reason - not to strangers or dogs he doesn’t know, not over food, not over territory or toys, even when dogs growl and/or lunge at him he stays calm and totally ignores them. What attracted us to him while he was in the shelter was how calm he was - he’s been nothing but sweet and even-tempered in all the years since.
      I agreed to take my dog despite the label because I grew up with large dogs, and I immediately got insurance to cover damages in case he bit anyone (I seriously can’t imagine that happening now that I know him). But a lot of people would have been intimidated by the “aggressive” label and not adopted the dog. The shelter in question was a high kill shelter - which is no wonder when they have a young, healthy dog with three strikes against him that he can’t help, then they add another that he doesn’t deserve in the slightest.

    I thank God everyday for folks like you. I love animals and hate to think of them on the streets, abused or lost. I know those are a very unfortunate and really unnecessary plight for animals.
    I feed strays and take pics to post on PawBoosters. I've only turned one dog over and he was adopted almost immediately. The Humane Society knew he would be and tried to calm me down. If he hadn't have been adopted I would have gotten him. I can't have pets so unless I found him a home, I'd have to find us both a home. I've hidden a few cats in my day. But cats are easier to hide.
    Like I say, I don't know how you do it. I fall in love with them every time but I find them good homes. I don't come close to the volume you folks do. So I wanted to thank you all for your kindness and tender hearts. Peace ✌ and again thank you.

    Danny is responsible for saving the lives of many dogs considered "agressive"....He knew that Bruno needed time to trust again because he obviously was mistreated in the past. Thank you Danny e CARL for saving Brunos life. I am going to start donating everything to Carl in Ventura in Bruno's honor.

    The fact that at least 1mil animals (dogs and cats) are euthanised yearly in US (and I understand that this is a decreased number the last years due to the amazing work of no-kill shelters and rescues) is unacceptable. Overpopulation (which is the main reason for euthanasia) can be tackled with other measures, laws and animal welfare stipulations!

    • @DavidEVogel
      @DavidEVogel 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No-kill shelters are expensive to operate. Municipalities make hard budget decisions. Unfortunately dogs are often a low priority.
      I also would like to commend the staff who work at kill shelters. Its not fun but an important responsibility.

    • @nataliea8678
      @nataliea8678 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DavidEVogel So, you are actually telling me that other countries that have banned kill shelters are richer than the richest country in the world? That municipalities cannot run organised TNR and shelters? That an animal welfare law cannot impose microchipping, etc etc measures? Your whole comment is inhumane and problematic however i try to see it! It is an important responsibility to "humanely" euthanise?? They should be outlawed. The kill "shelters". They conduct cruel and unnecessary murders.

    Oh my God I am crying buckets 😭😭 watching this..especially in the beginning..you could see he wanted to be friends but god only knows what awful treatment this guy had received before and after being abandoned..no microchip..all dogs must be microchipped here in 🇬🇧 otherwise there is a £1000 fine.
    This poor guy was ok until Danny stood up so that tells me he was abused..I work with neglected and abused cats so i know the signs..different species yes but response the same..then his shaking and possible death..i nearly stopped the video but I'm so glad I didn't. Because he is a bigger dog he is so powerful and people automatically become wary. .my nephew had a huge American bulldog. Who we sadly lost to a brain tumour last yr..but you got terrible looks and they crossed the rd to avoid you when you were with him..but the only way he'd hurt you is if he sat on you as fe weighed 6 1/2 stone..or maybe licked you to death..he was a softy. .being chased by a badger and a hedgie at different times squealing like Lucifer himself was after him 😁🤣.. i Sincerely hope Bruno aka Mr Grumpy Pants gets the furrever home he deserves as he has a lotta love to give thats for sure..No dog is born aggressive. .but made that way by US HUMANS..

    What a handsome fella 🤍 if anyone can help, my mom is searching to adopt two senior dogs, preferably female, bigger breed to snuggle her at night, rural setting with cats and chickens, chickens can’t get into the fenced yard but are next to it all day.
    Within 500 miles of Salt Lake City. She lost her husband, 2dogs and 2 cats last year, she ready to fill her house with life again 🤍
