Smart move on the cam swap.. looked like the old cam had some wear and had been hot. Mighta been ran low on oil before. Should run good. Great vids my dudes keep em comin
i remember when i did my cam swap. except that i yank the whole motor and trans out, much more easier to work on lol

243 & 799 heads are the same castings but true LS6(243) heads come with the sodium filled valves.. also during the later years they were made as a silicone cast head so you have versions of sand cast and silicone cast 243/799 heads..

To get the heads off, did you have to take out the steering shaft? Also did you just use a regular 15mm socket or a deep socket and did you have to use a swivel attachment as well?

Hey turbo do you think this cam would work for a 5.3 if so would I need springs and pushrods to match
mike baker Yep but if you're in a truck it's best to use the Stage 4 Truck Cam since it's better specs for low end and high end power. Get some PAC 1218 Springs for the truck cam or BTR .660 Springs if you go with the LS1 Stage 4 cam
Should swap the rear end to a better gear ratio that would make it accelerate faster
Just mill the heads .006 before you put them on the engine for you can still use the search pushrods

I was doing a manifold swap and had everything but that off and gave up no matter what I would pull on it but woudnt come off
LOS ANGELES ALIENS 2015 ours came right off. If you pull hard enough it will come off. Ours is an LS6 intake as well
Turbros Garage I used some pliers and I would pull on it but nothing I don't know why it woudnt come off

I would change oil pump while I'm in there
mike baker yeah, the 00-02' cars have a better revised pump than the 98-99' cars but I still should.

I do disagree with you the 5.7 will take boost just like all the LS platforms especially when you change the heads that and cam will be the combination for the tune for boost 5.7 bore and stroke is just fine
