I used to work for the BSA in their stores, and there are so many things they practically gild just to appeal to collectors. Pocket knives, axes, handbooks, badges, etc the list is endless
tip from HEMA practitioners: test the sharpness of a blade by running the back of your dominant's hand thumb's nail over the edge _and not push-cutting or drawing it across your palm or fingers_
I dont know about hema but I've been around weapons of all kinds and was always told to think before you act. Be it knifes, guns or anything dangerous think about how it could hurt you or anyone else around you before you start fondling it. I'm not saying dont have fun but dont hurt yourself either. Unless your a freak like that then I'd say to each their own.
well i mean if you're a real hardcore badass you gotta test the sharpness but cutting your thumb. like, you can really do any real damage by cutting your thumb, and a small band-aid with some anti-bacterial cream will heal it within only a few weeks.

just scratch the edge with your nail if its a huge sword? use paper your nail can indicate the sharpness but a longcut against paper can tell you that also goes for knives

funfact: wax seals are usually heated with a candleflame for a moment just to make it soft enough... if you completely melt it with a bunsen burner - it doesnt work as you saw XD
actually , they are usually used as such : take a candle, light it . then drip some of the wax onto the letter you intend to seal . then apply the seal . let the wax cool . then peel off the seal . this has been seen in almost every movie scene where a seal is applied . this is also why they make small color wax candles for this use . personally I like a Chinese "chop" .

For wax seals, you need sealing wax - it is a wax stick you drip onto surface and make impression before it fully solidifies. If heating the stamp, cover the handle, e.g. by winding string (ensure no metal you can touch!).... ideally, you’d have a wooden handle!
melt the wax in the melting cup, then drip it where you wish to seal, then place your signet on the wax. Sincerely, a guy who researched how to take care of bees and ended up learning about waxes
It would also help if it were actual sealing wax, and not what looked to be chunks of paraffin. Sealing wax stays opaque and melts to a more viscous consistency, rather than turning clear and oily like that.

I live a few miles from the old Danvers State Hospital. Yes, Session 9 is based on it and was filmed there after it was abandoned. The crazy thing is that about 10 years ago the property was purchased by a developer and they turned it into condos. Imagine living in a place like that?!?!?
You know it would be pretty cool to have the decoder cut into multiple pieces and have multiple pages to decode, each with the decoders needing to be rotated, flipped, rearranged, etc. If done with diagonal cuts the end result could be something other than a square/rectangle even, just a neat idea for more frusterations.

That danvers state hospital is goddamn legendary! It’s funny how such a dark place is now just a big apartment complex. They did some dark shit in that place and the main building is technically still standing, but it’s been gutted. Apparently there’s still tunnels under the grounds, but who knows. Very dark history

Whoever the Mastermind is, thank you for the rare experience of concern that my wax seal had been purloined, as I have the same seal and use red wax as well.
All my other scouts out there know that that's not a normal scout hand book and that ours were always falling apart from water damage, mud, dirt, and teenager sweat.

someone should tell them the stamp they were sent is really more for doing sealing wax. That's the stuff you buy by the stick that has a wick in it for melting. It's a heavier wax that tends to NOT just liquify instantly and actually holds its form and cools quickly. I'd love to see the outcome of that stamp when it's done properly :P

I've only seen one "Bible", way back in the mid 1970's.
Boy Scout handbooks usually are not that fancy. The front cover on mine fell off so I duct taped a piece of cardboard on in place.
