I watched their video before visiting Lisbon (for the second time) in the beginning of January and I understood right away it is just a shameless clickbait. Lisbon is exactly as beautiful and special as I remembered it from 2021. Your video feels validating to me 😊

Was in Lisbon the first time in 2018 and it was beautiful and not terribly crowded, but in 2024 was there again and even in late February was overrun by tourists. Only in the Alentejo did I get away from crowds.

Concordo que Neil foi excessivamente crítico de Lisboa em muitos aspectos. Estive lá em junho de 2024 e também em junho de 2016. Notei grandes diferenças na cidade, especialmente no bairro de Martin Moniz, parecia um pouco perigoso e não havia muitos portugueses morando lá. No entanto, não me senti inseguro em Lisboa e ainda é uma das minhas cidades favoritas. Filmei a maior parte da minha viagem no ano passado. Se Neil quiser filmar uma cidade perigosa, venha para o Rio de Janeiro, onde eu moro. Obrigado por este vídeo.

The video they made is cringe material. Absolute clickbait from this weird couple. How dare they exaggerate some issues in the city. Lisbon is wonderful, thriving and they have no right to make it look bad in this deceitful manner.

Se calhar o Neil adora ver tudo novo e limpinho com lojas, hotéis e restaurantes franquiciados e assépticos por todo o lado. Uma grande parte do lixo que está a mostrar provém dessa massificação e especulação existente nas cidades mais populosas ou visitadas do planeta. Been to Portugal last summer. Had exactly same impression of Lisbon: awful. Loved the country though (although was sad to see lorry drivers littering everywhere on their route, spoiling countryside with rubbish). Done caminho from Lisbon to Fatima, great experience.
No doubt there is an immigration issue and locals should not be pushed out of their homes (this needs to be solved in Lisbon, Paris, London, Berlin, etc). Your government should not push Portuguese resident out of their homes to make way for illegal immigrants. That's just wrong. Neil's video is misleading. He should also show posh areas of Lisbon where the locals are being pushed out of their homes by rich immigrants. THE HOUSING ISSUE IN PORTUGAL IS NOT JUST BECAUSE OF POOR, ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS. RICH MIGRANTS AND OVERSEAS SPECULATORS HAVE A BIGGER PART TO PLAY IN SOARING HOUSE PRICES. Btw, your channel teaches Portuguese to immigrants, the very same people who are the root cause for the housing affordability issue in Portugal. I find that interesting.
