I see the monsters of Hyrule as expressions of the different facets of Ganon. The Lynel represents his skill and cunning as a warrior. They claim territory away from roads. They do not threaten settlements. They do not instantly engage Link on sight as he passes them, as long as he respects their personal bubble.
I never sneak up on Lynels. They are the only enemy to show me respect, so I make sure I enter their territory on foot, walking, with my hands empty. I wait for them to issue a challenge by drawing their weapon, and then I draw mine to accept.
Lynels are just about the only creatures of Ganon I could see forming a society of their own. They are excellent smiths, powerful and skillful combatants, and far more intelligent than anything else. I almost wish there was an expansion to Kilton's disguises, where you could befriend a monster. I would absolutely make friends with a Lynel.

Lynels are kinda weird because some of them behave differently. In general, they let you know they notice you, but give you a chance to rethink your decisions. The same doesn't apply to the red lynel near Zora, which will attack you as soon as you get spotted. The one in the coliseum ruins is also quite aggressive, it might decide to target you with its bow even if you leave before triggering the fight. It also has superpowers, since it can hit you even when you're supposedly taking cover

If I ever manage to play master mode properly, some of these tips - especially the one where I can avoid the starting zone Lynel - will come in handy.
It's so frustrating, I'd love to try a harder mode, but the difficulty curve is just stupid. The first enemies you encounter now have several times the HP, and when you only have sticks, you'll exhaust your whole inventory just to kill one. And not only does it take far longer to kill a single enemy, I'm likely to die after 1-2 hits. 😩

  • @davidswanson5669

#1 best/quickest/safest/easiest way to kill Lynel is to shoot their head with 5-shot arrow (using regular arrows) while wearing twice-upgraded barbarian armor. That’s all you have to do. Just keep shooting at its head, and it will stay in one spot because every third or so shot will stun it (or whatever it’s called).
Of course I didn’t say it’s the quickest way, in terms of all the time it takes to reach the ability to earn 5-shot bows or upgrade armor, but once you’ve done that then killing a Lynel is trivial. I also use glitches to transfer durability/heal my weapons/duplicate weapons, and of course I use the torch trick (at lost woods entrance) to replenish arrows, but none of that is necessary.

Here’s another trick. If you’re fighting a lynel, you should keep as much distance as possible while still being in its range. When you see it pull out a bow and shoot arrows, those are health arrows and will heal you if they hit you.

With Mulduga, you can have the creature swallow the first bomb… then if you fire the bomb arrows at it, you’ll stun it. The moment it gets back up, you can explode the internal bomb and stun it a second time.

With the Molduga, if you just use Urbosa’s lightning blessing three times in a row it kills it dead. Just throw the bomb, explode it, charge the lightning and wait for it to jump out of the sand and shock it, then do it two more times before it goes back under.

It’s interesting enough to know, about the stub combinations on Taluses, but then again, a simple bomb thrown at their arms and blown will stun them anyways. And as for damage multipliers: As easy as it is to get a royal claymore or an edge of duality, there really is no excuse not to deal tons of damage on a talus. Another fun way to deal with a talus is to use magnesis on a particularly heavy metal block and bonk their weak spot with that.
And as for hinoxes: simply run under them, whisk on their legs a couple of times and if it prepares to jump on you, get outside the range again. Rince and repeat. They die way too quickly. 😅
Stalnox are annoying with their eyes, so knowing the bomb arrow Trick surely is useful.
The lynels only shoot their bows at you if you are up on something, where they can’t run over you anymore. Simply stay on the ground and stun them from there. You can also headshot from behind, tho you don’t have a definitive visual on where below that huge mane is their skull, that you need to hit for a stun. Still you can learn to anticipate the right spots to aim to for sure. Lynels sure look scary though.

  • @DeadwaveCarrier-oc1wo

Other than those two last factoids and the one about recharding talui, I'm glad to already know about dealing with enemies and bosses. Although I'm certain a Stalnox's eye will fall out regardless of what arrow you use. Who knows. I just started a new save for BOTW a few days ago after shelving it for about two years and the first Stalnox I fought was the one guarding the Hylian Shield. Immediately used bomb arrows because why not.
