Ill take crank windows and a stick shift.... AC must be cold.
Finally a sane person says it!
Did my best to find a simple ride in '21. Power windows and auto with AC was as close as I could get without special order :(
In the Air Force, all of our field vehicles, like M49, were all mechanical, nothing electronic, except lights & electrical wiring, but they're robustly built. Mechanical doors, windows, manual gears, windshield wipers, steering, brake. Switches were mechanical too. Driving it was a physical chore in itself. It took the abuses & keeps on working.
Drive by wire throttle ruined the stick experience. The Crosstrek is my 4th stick vehicle in the last 20 years, and probably my last. I absolutely loved to drive stick, but I detest the way this transmission shifts. The rev hang from the drive by wire throttle ruin the experience. i feel sorry for anyone who has this as their first manual experience. The manual cars from 15-20 years ago were so much more fun to drive.
Edit 4th stick vehicle not 3rd
Hey the way I see it, the AC is mostly a way to increase engine braking with a side use of climate control.
It's worse than just no parts available.
Fisker cars won't operate without an internet connection to its company servers. When the power company cuts the lights at Fisker, everyone is going to be stranded. It won't drive because the car can't phone home. The more complicated you make the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain.
Really??? Why would anyone buy a car that does that???
Because they're morons
Are you kidding me? That is RIDICULOUS
Hilarious, but so true. It's gotten to the point of absolute absurdity the new cars are with all the stupid electronic bells and whistles and bull crap that people "THINK" they need.
This is literally completely untrue. You just made that up. The cars will still drive they just will have no service or future updates. The software version they have now will be all they will ever get but they will still drive down the road as they do now.
I bought a brand new 2004 dodge 2500 5.9 diesel when i was 18. That truck turned 20 years old this month with very little problems. My other truck is a 82 toyota hilux with 22r. I love my older vehicles
And the same MPG as when new.

@@davey_wonder A toyota Truck with its brand new engine, the 24's and 25's have a near 95% failure rate sub 10,000 miles. Camry also is having major recall problems this year. I would say this is supply chain problems with inferior compo-nets... Toyota is not taking those trucks in on trade... boycotting them.. and only a fraction of them are out in the public (aka they are new on dealer lots, its going to be a huge problem).
I had a caliper locking up on my old Chevy C2500 and it turned out to be the flex hose going to the caliper. I replaced both of them and the brakes work perfect now. Apparently when they wear out on the inside they become like a one way valve and won't release the pressure on the caliper piston. I learned something new on a truck I've had for 22 years.
Had the same exact thing happen to a 97 GMC Sierra that i once had. That was a tough one to figure out!!
Learned that on an 86 firebird i put all new calipers on and fixed the.e brake. One rotor locked up and i was dumbfounded. Mechanic at our work mentioned the hoses do exactly that..replaced and all was good.
Great show keep up the amazing work be safe my friends God bless all
Thank u same to u!!
I saw a video where these guys got a $120K Porche at an auction around $5K. It was running rough. They took it to the dealer just to get an estimate. The estimate was like $4K. They took it and pulled the valve covers off, as far as the dealer got to check it. They discovered the timing chain guides were broken. The dealership mechanic missed that part. They changed the timing set, and it ran great.
Totally cool
I watched that one, Sam from the Rich Rebuilds side of the youtube universe
I've found some really really good deals at the auctions especially higher end foreign cars key is if you have half the knowledge of that particular car of have good resources & availabilities to good parts. They let 'em go cheap because of the labor cost to repair more than the mechanical issues.I see alot of guys just brand chase BMW/Mercedes the AMG etc put it back together but not to the standards for the way it was designed to be driven sometimes it's hard to come by a honest auction car salesman, just the truth,I know'em all shapes, sizes, colors male & female. It's true though I've seen a car that was $100,000 then the airbags go off no keys go for $15/20,000 more than a few times especially if they have a hook up @ the auction lot to do with who you know to get the jewels
I bought an Audi A8L at an auction. I drove it for 8 years and put 130k miles on it. I recently sold it to my friend for almost nothing because he needed a car, he still drives it now.
Why can’t cars just have the ac, radio, buttons, regular things a reliable car has, we don’t need all these 100 excessive useless features nobody uses
You got that right. You have to read detailed instructions 10 times just to adjust the sound in the radio. What a fking joke!
An ac, radio, and a car, is what most people do look for in a vehicle
people are dumb.... most people want that junk. don't ask me why...
Stylish Car is a loss leader to lure you into their ecosystem, then parts and finance are the profit. Luxury car more interest payments. Option$ are things to fix. In for a penny, in for a pound. Toyota has the most reliable CVT. Unlike Nissan, who don't know what they are doing and has the worst CVT
If I had to buy a CVT it would be a Toyota.
@@ErichH68I had a ‘16 Honda Civic with a CVT…I ran it to just over 200K miles with no issues. I did the fluid changes at 35K miles and it ran smooth. Sadly it was totalled in a collision with a semi. 🤨
Toyota eCVT, the hybrid. None other.
don't buy any CVT... unless its a scooter. Now, an eCVT, yeah sure... those are great

Scotty ! Could you please do a segment on good homeowner diy Scan tool to have for auto troubleshooting. What is a good value/feature these days. I bought one years ago for $60 and it has helped diagnose auto issues more than I can count through OBD2 port plug in. Maybe like $100-200 range.
People can't buy groceries. And we don't want those cars. No ev. If u can afford it ok.good

But... But... But... Pete, Butt says it will help save the planet 200 years from now!
What people can't buy groceries? What percentage? I don't know any of these people. I live and shop in middle class community
Agreed.
Yup, I had an '82 Datsun truck with 250k miles on it. It needed another carburetor and I had gone the rebuilt route once before.. so I bought a new old stock carb for about $850. That little mini truck ran great for another 80k and after when I sold it. Just try to find a mini-truck today.
My suggestion for slow starting car, meaning it cranks a lot before starting.
Once in the vehicle, close doors to make sure the lights are off and turn the ignition key to the point before it cranks the engine. You will hear the fuel pump humming, when it stops, start the engine.
Don't touch the gas pedal if it's fuel injected.
In the winter you should always do This, why? Because it gives the computer time to read the air temp, outside temp and calculate the choke and air mix to start the engine in the cold.
That way it pumps the required fuel in and is ready to start.
Just my experience.

If I'm not mistaken, the law states the manufacturer has to estimate parts supply for 10 years after the model is done. Not just the warranty period.
Yes but if the company goes bankrupt there is no manufacturer
Also Scotty already disproved this false myth. They are only obligated by law to make replacement parts for the warranty period ONLY, not after.
"law that supposedly forces manufacturers to provide parts for 10 or 20 years after they kill a model, but no such law exists. While there are laws like the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act that provide some protection in certain situations, it’s nowhere near the 10-year mark.

Hey, Scotty! You could do one of your really cool documentaries on Fisker. They started strong in the early 2010s with big celebrities driving their cars and went bankrupt under shady circumstances....I wonder if this failure is someone in the States getting revenge for the last corrupt shenanigans.
nice to see someone telling us the truth!!!!!!!
Aside from Tesla and BYD, pretty much all other electric vehicle manufacturers are in debt and aren't selling enough vehicles to get out of debt. Most will be out of business in the next five years.
Maybe Fisker can make electric scissors and hedge trimmers...🙄
I have three cars with manual transmissions - no issues, two Korean cars and a Toyota Yaris. All are approaching the 200,000 mike mark. It pays to be shifty.
Except that Fiskar and Fisker are not related to each other. The company that makes scissors is still in business.

Think it's either the ECM or ECM harness, but can't find a table for resistance and voltage values for each ECM terminal to verify ECM is good or bad.
If I unplug the ECM, codes for away and I have everything back for a couple minutes before they come back and I lose cruise control again.
Happy 4th to you Mr.Scotty - wishing you the best sir....
No wonder they've gone broke. I live in Los Angeles, where Fisker was founded, where we actually have charging stations, and I've never heard of them. Had to go to Wikipedia to find out anything about them.
saw a Fisker only once on the road !
Professor Scotty for President!
Happy 4th of July!
Make them inexpensive and people will adopt them. It's that simple. So long as they are more expensive, they'll never be popular.
They are quite happy being unpopular but rich. Less work, higher margins. All people care about is the "rich" part anyway.
Wrong, the Nissan Leaf is the 'affordable' EV and no one wants it. It sold 6k in all of 2023, whereas the Corolla sells 4x in a single month. No one wants EVs. The only EV that sells is Tesla because it's the new 'BMW' wealth status symbol.

Fisker Ocean is actually a much better than Ford’s EVs. Fisker’s problem was extremely poor management and they rushed the car out without a “debugging” period and unfinished software.
This. This is the reason I drive old cars. I don't want my car to be a computer on wheels. I want my car to be a car, my phone to be a phone, and my computer to be a computer. It seems like when a product has ONE job it does it much better than when you start mixing other crap into it.

Regardless, the customer is still left holding a needless loss. Listening to the Doomsday Crowd can be expensive.
What ru talking about, Fords EV's will be more reliable than those clunky pieces of fisker junk.
wow an I told you so video. thanks.
A transmission with electric motors... it's not an idea that would have ever crossed my mind, but I can't really think of any problems with it beyond my bias towards having a clutch. Interesting.
My 2014 Ford F150 reached 355,000 miles with very few issues. Radiator and water pump last year. Resealed rear axle two years ago. Some time after that I noticed the axle bearings were getting a little noisy.
Two weeks ago, the PCM computer went out. Drove to a friend's house, no trouble, got back in the truck, it was dead. There are about, I don't know, maybe about 1200 different PCMs for these, so once they finally got the right PCM, the truck should be ready today, so hopefully I can get back to work since I'm worthless without my truck.
It's kinda like I took a vacation. 10 days off from work and I spent $2800. I just didn't go anywhere but to the store and back on my bicycle.
I admit I have dreaded the day my faithful truck's electronics failed, and here it is. If not for that, 355,000 miles would not have stopped it.
Tell GM about parts for my 1500 Silverado transmission they’ve had for 3 months! WTF?
Didn't they make scissors too?
I think that's Fiskars. They make great scissors.

Why would someone want to buy Fisker? They may have IP that another company wants.
Companies buy failed companies all the time, likely for their resources.
I believe the industry & govt EPA forced Toyota hand on developing turbos with 4cyc replacing 6cyc and 6 cyc replacing 8cyc. They followed every other car manufacturers building turbos.
Market saturation? I thought corporations had executives to figure production and market demands.

I've got a 2015 Buick encore and the temp sensor and the turbo went out. It has low mileage of 60,000. Should I sell it to as is or fix it and sell it?

WRONG. Scotty already stated it's a false myth too. They are only obligated to provide parts during the warranty period.

Insurance companies should insure any new automaker unless they can prove they have enough replacement parts for every car sold in the market.
I recall there used to be a law in Canada anyways that car mfg had to make replacement parts for 10 years after release date.
Or release replacement parts to third party mfg to produce.
