I'm from the UK, I fell in love with Italy in 1993 when a close friend to my cousins got married there and one of my cousins was his best man. Decided I wanted to go back there to visit as often as I can. Took the plunge and started learning the language in 1996. Visited the place maybe 20 times; From north to South. I love the restaurant life and the variety of food, and the family culture; small things, like when you go into the square on evenings or weekends, you'll see EVERY generation just hanging out... Funnily enough, being somewhat immersed in that culture really opened my eyes to my own cultures (West Indian and British) in a way that I was sort of blind to before I started to observe the differences in cultures.
I spent 2 years in Germany in the Army and travelled Europe, including Italy. I live in Mexico now, but lived in CA for over 30 years. It’s a big world and you should see as much as you can!
USAF stationed at RAF Upper Heyford from '77 to '86 and traveled to every Country in Western Europe except for Portugal! ....Turkey, Egypt, Israel, Morroco and the U.S.S.R.
@@jamesalexander5623 '85-'89 for me, mostly at Eglin, but yeah, lots of that. Got out before they decided on the next trip, pending was either JTF Bravo or 6 months on the ((shiver)) USS Vincennes. Yeah, that Vincennes.
Glad to see you all appreciated the quality of the food all so fresh not a preservative in sight. The cost of living is so much more cost-effective and everything is so fresh .
I'm enjoying this series so much. They take me back to my only visit to Italy, too long ago😪. I spent a couple weeks in Florence with side trips to Siena and the countryside, and one in Torino/Turin. Turin then and still I suppose was often compared to Detroit (Fiat production is hq'd there, Alfa Romeo, Maserati) but there is much more to it than that. It's a short drive into the Piedmont hills and their little towns. Lovely. Thanks for posting all this. Also, your music choices on some have been fantastic.
All those wonderful memories to share forever with your beautiful family when you are back home! Smart time to go to Europe with a good dollar exchange. I booked Med cruises on dollar ships when the Euro was strong. It was a good value then back when 100 dollars would only get you 70 Euros. The cruises offered great sales and everything on the ship was in dollars with food and entertainment included. I am guilty of not making homemade pasta. The first time my husband had fresh pasta was in Rome. He thought he went to heaven. I ordered a bolognese sauce at a restaurant and he decided to have the same. Now, it is his absolute favorite dish. Yes...all those memories about your trip and all the family with whom to share them!
I very much enjoyed meeting your extended family and joining you on your travel experience ... thankyou. I have traveled and lived around the world from China to the Middle East and from Russia to Africa and loved every experience ... even the nasty scary ones. Obviously this one trip has opened your eyes to a new world of which I doubt you will be able to close. Best wishes on your adventure(s).
Hello beautiful family! I've been having such fun coming along with you. The food has been very delicious! You all look so happy and relaxed! Carry on with your magnificent vacation Jamel!
Love Italy & it’s only about 2-3 hours for me flying from the U.K. so I guess I’m spoilt that way but the USA is 10+ hours as I have to go via somewhere from Birmingham. The places we get direct from Birmingham is India, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Qatar, Doha and then onward to Asia from there. Love to see wheee you go next as Italy and even Rome itself has far to many place to pack into a 3 month holiday never mind 3 weeks !!!
Thanks for continuing to let us tag along with you on this fabulous journey. Thanks especially for taking us to the grocery store. One of my favorite things to do when traveling internationally is to go into grocery stores and the local equivalent of a dime store. It’s fun to see what’s similar to back home and what’s different (different brands, different flavors-one of my favorite discoveries in Italy was apple yogurt, but it wasn’t like “apple pie” flavored, it was green apple flavored. I loved that stuff. Never seen it in the states). I think that kind of “everyday” shopping gives a peek into the lives of local residents. :)
Oh, you guys are really there!! I did not click on these because I thought were just showing videos of Italy. Wow, it looks like even their Mc Donald's is classy. I heard that Europe was clean. It looks so true.
So happy to know you and the fam are having such a good time🎉❤ ! Continue to enjoy , will be wondering to hear what you liked the most when you’re back home and settled 🇭🇺🍕🥰❤️
Walking is the basic exercise you can do... and you can do it anywhere. And at the moment you give up walking by yourself, you will never get better. That's why I am trying to walk as much as possible.
I went to Italy years ago, broke and staying in hostels. I hope to go back again and visit my Great-Grandpa's birthplace (near Pesaro). I love the history of the place--it's insane to realize how ancient the buildings are! Wondering where you are off to next

Glad to see you take a chill day. As someone who love to travel, including in Italy, the best path to discovery is often the path not planned. On my first trip to Rome with my wife, who was born in Southern Italy, we only had a couple of days before visiting her family, so we saw a few sights but also set aside time to walk and wander. As we were strolling with no planned destination, my wife pointed ahead and said, "Oh my God. That's Gwyneth Paltrow and Matt Damon!" Turns out they were filming The Talented Mr. Ripley. We paused to watch. It was the scene where Paltrow's character is eating on a table outside a restaurant near the Spanish Steps (but was set up in an entirely different location) while Damon's character is on a moped. Have a great time, Jamal!
Thanks for sharing! To add to the experience, and as a reaction suggestion, a couple of my favorite Italian singers are Laura Pausini, Eros Ramazzotti, and Roco Granata. Keep having fun! Glad you got your chips!
You're having great weather and the forecast is for above normal temps through the end of November. Don't forget to turn back the clock tonight before bed.
Very good for you to take a chill day because that is what you need to do in order to explore on your own and see what you may have missed, like I had now idea about that Chicken Big Mac! I guess I can try to special order that here I am inspired to give it a try no matter how it much it will cost me, Let's see if they will make it for me! That other burger place looked impressive! The only difference is that we made sure we ate food that did not resemble anything we already eat in America, we ate food that was indigenous to Italy first, I'm glad you enjoyed your food at the Old Wild West! The Euro must have taken a dive and the U.S. dollar appears stronger now based on your shopping experience in that market; very interesting to see that. Your meals at the end of this video looks amazingly delicious too; savor each bite you take! Thank you for posting this video, I am enjoying this journey you're taking, Looking forward to more! ☮💕
Chicken Big Mac!!!!! Wow! 😂😂 Yes I remember the supermarkets being really good prices (I lived in Italy for 3 months in 1999) I think (if I remember right) not many Italians shop in a supermarket but prefer little shops like a bakery, a butcher, a shop that just sells cheese etc for the quality of the food. I think it was around October time when I visited Rome & it still being warm, like t-shirt weather. But in Venice it was a lot colder because it's on the north east coast, if you are going to be visiting there as well. I was in Padova near Venice from mid September to mid December in 1999. I hope the travel bug has caught you Jamel & you might end up visiting the uk one day 😁😁
Hey, I love me a nice cold Coke too! also love how your family appreciates each other and everything is so cohesive and calm. What a beautiful family you have Jamel, your wife is just so lovely! ❤
It looks really nice and so good you all are having a great time 🤗. I hope you get to travel to some of the countryside. I have been to Ireland and Germany and both places were beautiful. I wanted to stay 😊😊. Continue to enjoy and be safe 🤗.
I mentioned it is considerably cheaper for housing in Italy with some of the places offering almost nothing for you to buy and renovate. Not to mention even the places that I saw were 4-7 acres with pools etc and renovated homes ridiculously priced compared to here. I'll see if I can find the real estate Vlog the British Agent has showing the homes and apartments. I'm pretty sure the lower food prices are a result of not having for everyone in US to have to play CYA so you can pay for medical, would be my guess. And thus the cost is passed on to us. Fact: Italy the government under the last President instituted a country wide program of dirt cheap loans, free in some cases, others were large tax credits etc. But they mandated complete retrofit of all possible items to lower energy costs for heating and cooling involving solar panels, wind turbines, insulation, water saving toilets if not composting, double if not triple pane windows and doors and any and all energy conserving heating and cooling options for homes, apartments and buildings in general. At the end of their first year the CO2 footprint for the country was lower than the output of CO2 for the last 20 yrs. Which is incredible.
What an exciting adventure for you! I can't travel for health reasons, but I hope you don't mind if I follow along! That was a great picture of your family. How in the world did you eat all that good looking food! Of course you will probably walk all those calories off looking at beautiful Italy.
A lot of Americans have trouble buying clothes and things like shoes even in Italy. Italians are just built differently. Clothes exported are cut to a different measure than those for the domestic market. Snack choices are very limited compared to the U.S. as well, which helps keep them slim, along with the walking.
Oh that’s definitely my idea of a fun time! Eating and SHOPPING! 😁 Are there a lot of Leather stores there? Purses and all? (Love purses and a good, strong smelling leather one.😍I’d be in hog Heaven for sure! And for sho nuff broke! Lol. Is there clothing and things like that also cheaper like a lot of the food ?? And y’all ALWAYS know how to eat! YUMMY!!! Making me hungry-🤣 Those cheap price comparisons, the unbelievable difference compared to US...Again, so great seeing a great family having such a wonderful time- 💜✨👍
Your comment about the trash cans reminded me of when I took my friend to Italy and he noticed the garbage trucks--basically miniaturized versions of the trash trucks in the US!

Both Coca Cola and Fanta are adapted to local taste. In 1955, when Fanta was launched on the Italian market and produced in a factory in Naples, the drink really began to contain orange juice (which is less colourful)
