Well I must say that my Best friend for a life time was an English guy. In the beginning he was very distant and not very friendly but, after 1/2 years, we became so close that for me he was like part of the family, as much as I was part of his. He passed away in a tragic circumstance but trust me when I say that when my father died, I didn't cry as much as I did for my beloved Friend's sudden death. Can confirm, we adore Italians, we love learning about the culture, we love the food, we love their effortless style, we love how expressive they are. They're everything that we aspire to as Brits but are too repressed to embrace. I'm so in love with Italian people that I started learning the language a few months ago so I can make some italian friends.
Hello thyop You know, sometimes Italians aren't even shy in embracing the fact that they don't want to work, but that they want to be paid every month. And they also embrace that someone else will have to provide for them. This can make you all smiles and cheers. This also is Italian Style
@@fabioasterix750 That "not wanting to work" seems to be a feature of the people living in the hotter climes, and who can blame them really. But they still need a bit of money to enjoy the good food and drink... again totally understandable.
@@3rdEyeWide well It's not that southern Italy is much hotter then Spain, south east Europe(well, there's Greece there) or Turkey for instance. But in our south they really don't feel like, not even in winter
@corsaro nero Do I? My statement was based on CLIMATE, not race. Perhaps I was incorrect, but in no way did I imply behaviours or mental attitudes were attributable to biological race.
@corsaro nero One might say it's racist -at least highly obnoxious and rude - to expect me to respond to a language I don't speak. Are we all perfect beings? Is your knowledge absolute? I'm an Italian who's been living in the UK for nearly three years now and I find it extremely interesting to see how people view us as 'Italians', I genuinely wouldn't have thought that there is so much respect for our culture and behaviours. Great video.
Real Criteria , they are elegant, and are obsesed for their food that i also enjoy since i found my italian partner, and if i got tired of it , that will be a new plate to bring me back to acept their food is amazing! Apart of that, even whatever they will say will sound kind or respectful sometime that make me feel english is much fast and proactive but less kind than italian. Over all they are very friendly and caring even of kids or people they dont know.
Hi..your boyfriend is very lucky to have a girl SENSIBLE like you. You appreciate not only the food but whatever says sound kind or respectfull...LUCKY MAN.
Wow, I'm Italian and I'm surprised to hear such beautiful words from British people. I've always felt like our cultures and attitude were extremely different, like British being calm, sophisticated and composed people, Italians being completely opposite like genuine and loud. That's why I really didn't expect such good reactions! By the way I love Britain and British culture, I really hope to go visit England one day ❤️
@@michaelanthony4750 I think it depends on each person's lifestyle, mentality, income, class, the place where someone works, his or hers social circle, activities. I found all the answers nice and sincere but I like to mention the two little guys, I think they were very mature for their age, especially when they spoke about football and about italians opinion about brits :)
I've been to Italy quite a few times and love it. I have known many Italian people who have lived in the UK and have stayed friends with many of them. I think our two countries compliment each other well. I have always enjoyed travelling to other countries and meeting folks and I must say that I have been made to feel welcome. I hope that they feel welcome when visiting my country. I have a particular affection for Italy though, the history and art are fantastic but the chaotic Italian roads are pretty scary.
Yes, you're certainly coconuts! I used to live in London, came back to Italy and after 10 years and I had a child: all my English friends sent him a small present and either came to see him or invited us to England so that they could meet him. Can you think of anything more charming? Having them over in our holiday home for a short vacation is one of the highlights of our summers... unfortunately Covid has put this little pleasure of ours on hold, but we'll both get over it. Also in my opinion bith Brits and Italians have a good sense of humour... even though ours is way less subtle.
I'm Italian and I have to admit the British comments were so much nicer and accurate than those of the Italian ones. On top of this, the two children are extremely well educated, congrats to their parents
That was really nice to watch. I was born in England of Italian parents, we spoke Italian at home, all my English friends were welcome & my parents always insisted they stayed for a bite to eat.
A cultural difference. Banter is such a big thing in Britain, and yet not fully understood by some 🇮🇹. In my opinion of keen observer who lived in England, banter is a way of accepting people into a social group, whether it be friends or peers at work. Normally the 🇬🇧 are from polite to over polite to strangers, but when the banter begins, usually when you get a nickname, be sure you moved from simple acquaintance to friend. The reason must be due to the self-deprecating humour (banting back is fine and well accepted), as well as a way to check your personality by your reaction. Btw, my nickname at work was Mr. RP. Why? Because, in order to be more accepted and totally adapted in a new enviroment, I used to stick to the received pronunciation I had forced myself to learn and practice for months on end as a student before getting the job, with awkward results. A foreigner who speaks unnaturally posh, in connected speech, and uses subjunctive forms when not strictly necessary😂. Eventually I got what I expected. Like, "Mr. RP, get some work done today, will you? No Italian two-hour lunch break, d'ya understand me, mate?"😂🇬🇧👏
Hahaha a brilliantly written definition and a funny example… thank you! It seems counterintuitive, but a Brit acquaintance making fun of you is usually a good sign, that you’re making friends with them and that they feel comfortable with you. I feel it also helps to keep you grounded; you’ll notice a lot of big British celebs are usually quite down to earth as their mates would never let them get too big for their boots I imagine 😆
Very interesting. I don't think there is a rule in Italy except perhaps for the Romans (=people from Rome). I come from Venice and I noticed Romans almost ALWAYS give a nickname when they barely know the person, usually on the ground of what one looks like or what s/he does within the first 24 hours of acquaintance that catches their imagination. As a high-school student I went to summer holiday with some Roman students and they came up with : . "the legionary soldier" : a guy of the group who wore a hat with white extensions . "Grisoo the dragon" : a guy of the group who had a very long-shaped face . "Duracell" : a girl of the group who had danced the whole night . ... I'm sure I'll remember another couple or so If you read Zero Calcare, a very famous cartoonist, you'll see his friends usually have nicknames such as "il cinghiale" (the wild boar) or "Secco" (Dry).
@@floatingsara I m from Rome and i Can confirm that we use a mechanism very similiar to the English banter (even if i don't fully understand it). We tend to joke around pretty everything and everyone, as soon as we get comfortable!
That's very true that they don't understand our banter, I have been to Italy quite a few times and have been mistaken for being Italian quite a few times and one asked me why do you look Italian and I jokingly said it might be from when the Romans took us over and an English guy overheard me say it and laughed and the Italian guy looked quite embarrassed and didn't know what to say. I felt sorry for him and changed the subject quick and said how much I love Italy and visit every year.

I am Brazilian and descendant of Portuguese and Italians. In southern Brazil and São Paulo city there are many Italians descendants. I live in Curitiba city, there is a neighbor town calls Colombo founded by Italians descendants in 1890 and the name is in honor for Christopher Columbus. Ah, in Curitiba city also has a neighborhood calls Santa Felicidade founded by Italians descendants, in this neighborhood there are great italians restaurants and most famous is Madalosso restaurant.
Ah wow! And do your opinions differ from the Brits you watched? Also, I imagine Easy Italian would be interested to go to this place to make interviews!
@@EasyEnglishVideos In my opinion, Italians look like with southern Brazilians (who born in Paraná state, Santa Catarina state and Rio Grande do Sul state), maybe because there are many italians descendents here. I find that the major similarity of British and Italian is the dry humour and the ability laugh at themselves in dire moments. May be many do not agree, but this is what I found in knowing them. They remind me much of the Tuscans in some ways. My first wife was English, we lived 20 years together, I was the one to leave not her. It was hard at the beginning but then we started to understand our different way of thinking and find commonality. It was great, I have never forgotten.
well, i’m italian an i haven’t met some brit people (still 18yo, lot of time for that) but from ur video i would say that a characteristic of brit people is that u are really theatrical in ur speech, u put a lot of tone in words, don’t know if u understand what i’m saying ahahah
What an amazing video, plenty of well-educated and nice people. As for the children, I beg to disagree with what has been said: Italian children play up and fall out most of the time. If you've ever been to an Italian restaurant you know what I mean. I wish I knew some sober and smart kids like the ones in this vid.
Our cultural background is somewhat a double-edged sword. It works that way for any kind of foreigner abroad. I actually live in Germany, I come from Northern Italy and I can relate to some things stated in the video, on many others I think it's just a matter of luck. North, South, cooking skills and so on it's not always true. British people don't get angry, but as example I can compare the Scottish people and their well-known temperament. Well I backpacked there in the past and I had the best fun of my life and met the kindliest people I can remember after many travels. On the other hand many people think Italians are stylish, well-behaved and so on and as Italian I can state that's not true, or if they do they just want to show you a side of the coin. Moreover as someone posted bunch of those examples lead sometimes to get scammed. Again being Italian is positive and negative, but I agree on the fact that without our political/work-problems I'd gladly move back for living-working there, now I just visit my family and I prefer being a tourist of my own homecountry(sadly). And please don't limit the definition of Italy to Rome,Milan and Como. They're the worst example, especially Rome being a tourist-trap. Better spend a more pleasant time in small locations, in the suburbs, that's what I'd suggest as Italian to people visiting our country. PS: I think the man at 2:00 got a special invitation, because he was probably trying to flirt with him, actually quite obvious lol
I loved listening to this video and can only reiterate what my previous commentators have just said, all of the people were very educated. I live in UK almost 7 years and I love the country and there people. More of this videos...
I need to back home -Italy- already planning to relocate back to the UK, but I'm gonna try to find something down south, just listening to those people took so much edge off. Absolutely well-articulated, charming, respectful... this vid made me dream.
Wilhelm Mühs said: "Italians complain too much, so they are fine". I see some comments from my Italian compatriots and I must agree with Mr. Mühs. Problems exist in all nations and ours are often highlighted by the foreign media. Do you live better if you are rich? Really??? Wow... Can we, please, eliminate the stereotypes that have tormented us since the XIX century? Thanks. I'm so tired of them.
I enjoyed this a lot, I lived in the UK 🇬🇧 ( London ) and it changed my life, I will always be grateful to that city, I have English friends and i really like them, always have, they re open minded and they know how to have fun in life, they invented football too so thumbs up 👍
I'm an Italian who lived in Liverpool for a couple of years. My favourite foods were garlic bread and jacket potatoes: so good >< My favourite memory though was queuing up to buy Harry Potter books. A thing that shocked me though was my house having stairs covered by carpet (I fell so many times due to that XD) and also the bathroom with carpet.

I remember that Italians were very expressive. I was in the airplane where most of the passengers were Italians, and when we landed, people were giving a round of applause. That was very new to me. I do miss the cafe latte and the espresso that I had in Italy.
@@bluesisyphe I see. Applauding on landing itself was also unusual for me, since I do take airplanes a lot for longer distances and I had not seen people doing that elsewhere. That particular flight was from Milan to Madrid.
I am Italian but I have lived and worked in the UK for years. My opinion may sound strange to some of you, but I truly believe that English and Italians have more in common then they believe.
Brits people are honestly amazing. I remember when I was a child that some british tourists who was friends with my parents and grandparents (my family owns two agriturisms) and I think I never met more generous people they sometimes gifted me with some books and toys when they came visit us, I feel sorry that I couldn't speak well english when I was little
I am of Italian heritage born in Cambridge UK I respect all cultures and people around the world I am proud of my Italian heritage and to be British I put my hand on my heart when I listen to the Italian anthem and the English anthem people who boo or whistle others national anthems are low life and uneducated people 🇮🇹🇬🇧🤗🤝
Really you should be asking the Italians, what they think of the "Scottish" "English" "Welsh" and the "Irish". They might be all part of Britain but the people are very different. This is also coming from an Italian Scot. When I am in Italy, my countrymen have different reactions to English, Scottish, and Irish people. When you say British to an Italian person they only think English.
Growing up in Italy and spending a decade in England I can say that: Italians know how to cook since an early age but the English have much more knowledge of international food. Italians drink after food, English before. Italians have fashion and expensive clothes but English street tyle keep inspiring them. English people are very classist, Italians way more. English people make up their accents to sound posher, Italians tend to use Latin. Comparing to Italy, English education system sucks, unless you go to private schools. England is almost bureaucracy free comparing to Italy. Italians are usually very active but cannot compete with some mix race the UK has generated. Brits tend to leave home quite early and share flats, Italians stay with their families until they get married. Brits spend 1h to spread fake tan, Italians tend to sun tun for two weeks before going to the beach for the first time Brits ask to repeat politely, Italians just repeat loudly. English coffee equals to a mug, Italian coffee equals to a sip. Some Italian pretend queue don't exist. Some Britons pretend there is noo need for ironing. Some Italians go as far as to use Versace tiles in their bathrooms. Some abrits go as far as to use carpets in their bathrooms. Both countries have love celebrities with strong foreign accent respectively. Tattoo culture was very common across the UK since the early 90s, now is the same in Italy Italians have more taboos when it comes to sex but they also feel more judged Since Reggaeton music started, people in Italy tend to study more Spanish Is very common for the Brits to speak only 1 language. Italians tend to go for holidays in the same places over and over. Gp Doctors in the UK tend to prescribe the same pills for different reasons . GP in Italy usually know your parents and grandparents and tend to prescribe pasta with no sauce. The Citizen Advise Bureau in the UK is not even a concept in Italy . Am I missing something ?
@@spilltheteaspillthetea Education in England is a lot better than Italy. Italian system is really underfunded and in England the level schools are better managed and funded plus the learning standards are high.

Hello thyop
You know, sometimes Italians aren't even shy in embracing the fact that they don't want to work, but that they want to be paid every month.
@@3rdEyeWide well
It's not that southern Italy is much hotter then Spain, south east Europe(well, there's Greece there) or Turkey for instance.
Do you have no blindspots? Well, if you don't I guess I should be greatful for having the chance at conversing with a god, hmm?
Italians are so friendly and adorable.
I'm part English and part Italian my Italian ancestory came from the mountains around Lake como like both cultures I grew up with more Japanese English traditions since my mum is Japanese and I grew up in England
I LOVE ITALY!!! I know it can be crazily caotic in its government but...the people, art, beauty, style, joy, ...a blessed and very well loved country! Viva L'Italia! Being dominican, I think italians are the closest to dominican people I will ever get! Passion for life is what we both have!!!
Yea speaking as an Italian we pretty similar even tho I think that there some other Latino countries that are closer to Dominican culture and lifestyle than Italy
I don't think Dominican Republic and Italy have anything in common. Punta Cana and Santo Domingo are different.

The two kids were really smart! Amazing! Hugs from Italy 🇮🇹
Some lovely comments. I'm very proud to be half English and half Italian 😊

All British people in this video are so polite! I have lived in the UK and this brings back memories of their good manners.
Wow, I'm Italian and I'm surprised to hear such beautiful words from British people. I've always felt like our cultures and attitude were extremely different, like British being calm, sophisticated and composed people, Italians being completely opposite like genuine and loud. As an Italian, I can't stress how wrong people are when they think that every Italian dresses up perfectly. We don't lol.
Try going anywhere in the London suburbs and you'll change your mind about what well dressed is lol

I think it depends on each person's lifestyle, mentality, income, class, the place where someone works, his or hers social circle, activities. But i agree that on average italians dress well(specially in the north)despite that, in my opinion, the best dressed man in the country is from Naples, the menswear ambassador Danilo Carnevale.

As a high-school student I went to summer holiday with some Roman students and they came up with :
. "the legionary soldier" : a guy of the group who wore a hat with white extensions
. "Grisoo the dragon" : a guy of the group who had a very long-shaped face
. "Duracell" : a girl of the group who had danced the whole night
. ... I'm sure I'll remember another couple or so
If you read Zero Calcare, a very famous cartoonist, you'll see his friends usually have nicknames such as "il cinghiale" (the wild boar) or "Secco" (Dry).
@@floatingsara I m from Rome and i Can confirm that we use a mechanism very similiar to the English banter (even if i don't fully understand it). We tend to joke around pretty everything and everyone, as soon as we get comfortable!
who cares. they lose.... they cry.
it is coming Rome.

I find that the major similarity of British and Italian is the dry humour and the ability laugh at themselves in dire moments. May be many do not agree, but this is what I found in knowing them.
PS: I think the man at 2:00 got a special invitation, because he was probably trying to flirt with him, actually quite obvious lol

hi, im italian. lovely
Growing up in Italy and spending a decade in England I can say that:
Italians know how to cook since an early age but the English have much more knowledge of international food.
Brits spend 1h to spread fake tan, Italians tend to sun tun for two weeks before going to the beach for the first time
Brits ask to repeat politely, Italians just repeat loudly.
Tattoo culture was very common across the UK since the early 90s, now is the same in Italy
Italians have more taboos when it comes to sex but they also feel more judged
Since Reggaeton music started, people in Italy tend to study more Spanish
Is very common for the Brits to speak only 1 language.
