About starting 2 instead of 1: I vaguely know the story of Portal 1, including how it ends. I've seen it before, years ago. It's just that I don't know all the details. Therefore a first time playthrough wouldn't really be very genuine. I wanted a full blind playthrough when I try it out myself for the first time. I know nothing of Portal 2, only seen co-op. I can always play portal 1 later on. But not to worry I'm still really enjoying it and following along just fine.
If you're into the puzzles in addition to the story, I'd highly recommend you check out the mods as well, particularly Portal: Reloaded and Portal Stories: Mel!

I think coming back to a game, especially a puzzle game, after a few years and not quite remembering everything could make it "sorta" blind and still be a good experience. In any case, I'm liking this Portal 2 playthrough so far!

It's fun watching somebody play this for the first time. Portal 2 is so good. I remember playing it when it first came out and honestly it scared the shit out of me. The environment feels so large and you feel so alone, yet there's also that eerie sense that you might not totally be alone. I recommend you keep looking around when you play and take your time. There are plenty of little secrets to discover.

You just dropped in the rabbit hole of Portal! A lot of fun and enyoyment is ahead of you. Just think of the great community mods. I am really jealous 🙂

On the other hand, Portal 1 is all about puzzles. If you haven't solved those before it would actually be like a blind playthrough.
