    Great Video ! Very Informative. I wonder about using a poly aspartic on an outdoor counter countertop . I know it's vulnerable to the weather (moisture). But it's not like it's sitting on the ground?

      Thanks for the comment! Outdoor countertops are definitely different than a slab of concrete. The fact that it's up off the ground takes away most of the moisture concerns. We've seen a lot of success with Polyaspartic & Polyurethane on outdoor countertops. Just make sure that whatever one you plan to use is UV-stable. Thanks for watching Deco-Crete TV!!!!

    Question. Coating is what I want to do in the basement, but my basement gets condensation spots in the summer time. Will coating be an issue with that down the line?

    • @DecoCreteTV

      Thanks for the comment! Basement floors can tough when it comes to moisture content. The fact that you have noticeable moisture spots at certain times of the year is definitely concerning. Concrete floor coatings are not verry breathable and excessive moisture in the concrete can cause the coating to delaminate/peel. The question would be; is the moisture coming up through the floor from the ground, or is it just condonation sitting on top of the floor from fluctuations in temperatures. Basements tend to hold a lot of moisture in the air and when temps go up the summertime, that moisture can turn into condensation. There's really no harm from the condensation sitting on top of the coating. The problems start when moisture comes up through the floor and builds pressure in the slab. Our Moisture Shield primer will help block some of the moisture and it's recommended on any slab that's below grade. Hopefully this helps. Thanks for watching Deco-Crete TV!!!

      Thanks for the comment! The best thing for a garage floor would be a two part coating with a paint chip/flake broadcast. This is a very long lasting option and it's great look for garage floors. You can get the chips in a verity colors and blends. The floor would need to be prepared by diamond grinding down before application. I'll leave a few links to some other videos so you can see the process. Thanks for watching Deco-Crete TV!!!!

    Hi, I plan to grind the concrete floor of my fixer upper condo. It's on the first floor of a three story building. I want to install a wood floor over the concrete, along with a foam underlayment of course. After I grind the concrete I want to seal or coat it somehow. I am worried about moisture getting into the wood flooring in the future. What type of product would be best to use on the concrete? I would like to waterproof it, but it sounds like allowing a little water vapor to travel through a sealer is desirable. On the other hand maybe a coating is best because it's indoors and maybe there won't be too much moisture under the coating. I'll grind it first and then do a moisture test. How would a moisture test result influence my decision about sealer vs. coating? Than k you for any help you can offer!

      Thanks for the comment! The moisture test would definitely be a good first step. If the moisture content is under 5%, I would also consider our Floor Flex membrane. It's not really a true concrete coating or sealer, it's more on an underlayment/waterproofing membrane. The normal use for Floor Flex would be for coating plywood sub-floors before applying an epoxy coating, but it should work pretty well in your case as well. It's not exactly a good-looking final product, but if you are covering it up with your other flooring, that shouldn't really matter. If the moisture content is over 5%, I would recommend our Moisture Shield primer. I'll leave links to both of these products below. Thanks for watching Deco-Crete TV!!!

    I am remodeling an extremely nasty house where all sort of animals have been pooping and pieing all ever it for many years.
    We removed the flooring and the plan after all the chemical treatments, is to seal the concrete before putting new tile in order to definitely prevent those flavors to be released from the concrete.
    What do you advise using for this application?
    Thank you

      Thanks for the comment! The very best way to get rid of that smell is to diamond grind the floor and apply a concrete floor coating like epoxy, polyaspartic, or polyurethane. The downside to this would be the cost, and it'll be hard to get any other flooring to bond to coating. You could install a coating as the final product, which would solve the bonding problem. Applying an acrylic concrete sealer would be another option. You would not need to grind the floor first, and the cost would be way less then a floor coating. It would still help with the smell, but not as affective as a coating. Before you make any decisions, you should check the spec's on whatever flooring you plan to install as the final product. Just to make sure it'll bond to sealed concrete. Hopefully this helps, please let us know if have any other questions! Thanks for watching Deco-Crete TV!!

      Will D1 be a decent application for a similar situation? We aren’t planning on installing tile but just leaving the sealer on until the dog has passed

      @@michaelbacile8439 Thanks for the comment! D-One would be a decent choice for that. You could also consider Super Stamp Seal. It's a little bit thicker than the D-One, and it would be easier for a roll-on application. Either one would work. I'll leave a link to the sealer page on our website. I want to put down a tile floor in my garage floor. The floor is painted, a lot of the paint has peeled off. What is the best product to use so I can re-do the floor with the tile. There is a sleight problem with moisture, not every year, but some time. Any help from you on this question, thanks

    • @DecoCreteTV
      @DecoCreteTV  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the comment! The first thing to do is remove all the paint, and get back down to bare concrete. This could be done chemically or with a floor grinder. The thin-set tile mortar should bond fine if you grind the whole floor. If you remove the paint chemically, you might want to use our Sure Bond primer to help thin-set stick better. You could use our Moisture Shield if you're concerned about moisture. You would need to grind the floor first if you plan on using any concrete coating products. I'll leave links to our website for both of these products. Hopefully this helps! Thanks for watching Deco-Crete TV!!!

    What hapens if i pus coating sealer after a penetrating sealer?

    • @DecoCreteTV
      @DecoCreteTV  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the comment! Putting a topical acrylic sealer over a penetrating sealer can work in some situations. It really just depends on the exact two sealers. I would contact the manufacture of the existing penetrating sealer to get their recommendation. Thanks for watching!!
