  • Rishi Sunak says allegations that his close parliamentary aide placed a bet on a July election days before it was called, are "very disappointing".
Craig Williams has apologised and is being investigated by the Gambling Commission.
Our Senior Political Correspondent Paul McNamara spoke to the Foreign Secretary Lord Cameron about this earlier.

With the guy making a bet, I don't care if people would admit it or not but a lot of us would at least consider doing the same. Yet, here is the problem... these Politicians act like they are better than us, that they have the right to tell us how to live, how to think, who is worthy of help and who isn't.
Someone "better" would resist the impulse to make a few quid, their higher sense of morality would realise it would be inappropriate.

We need to give Ukraine more than what we currently are, other countries need to step up to the plate as the consequences of a total defeat of Ukraine will be the tip of the iceberg of what will likely follow. If Putin starts to see support for Ukraine is dropping and is able to eventually overwhelm Ukraine when Ukrainian resources are running out. He will see our weakness that we are going to prioritise domestic spending over supporting resistance to Russian aggression. He won't stop at Ukraine because he knows we won't have the political willpower to send vast funds and resources to a nation defending itself from his aggression.
