I have watched with interest, since I have owned an Atto for 53,000kms (not km/s, lol). I mainly agree with you and can add depth to what the car is like. I have also done two videos about very long road trips that exceed your total drives by a long shot. In addition, I have driven BNE-TVLLE and back where I made no video, and the charging infrastructure was far worse. I, too, like the car overall, but wish I had bought the Renault Arkana (ICE) I tested a few weeks earlier 20 months ago, or maybe a Toyota CH-R Hybrid I didn't even test, looking back.
0:33 Agree. There's nothing wrong with its appearance, inside and out, and is a pleasure to drive - even all day.
1:11 Range is sufficient for city use; insufficient for road trips. It's about 3hrs of driving to 1hr of charging. Poor infrastructure makes even that difficult.
3:02 It's the right size for me, but to each his own. I have some alternative suggestions for you and others like you later.
3:37 Visibility has never been a problem. In fact, the cameras are so good I know more about my surroundings than any car I have been in during over 50 years of driving. The flashing in the mirror tells you it's not safe to change lanes. If it doesn't flash you don't need to see anything, however, be sure it's not turned off.
4:20 I don't need to do other things when reversing. The Atto has enough quirky things that really annoy, but that's not one of them for me.
5:30 What's worse than the bridge thing is the sticking in full night mode that can only be solved by putting your lights stalk into certain settings - sheer madness. Google it. In general, there are many other screen weirdnesses that shows BYD haven't been making cars long enough.
6:20 Dead right about the lane assist, plus it's too jerky. And the irony of making you grab the wheel every 15 seconds or so while it steers for you and when you steer for yourself you can keep your hands off for as long as you like. Go figure? It's also madness. Who thought that was a good idea? BTW, you can use adaptive cruise without lane assist - there's a toggle for on and off on the left steering wheel buttons.
7:56 Look at the closest view of the screen at 7:58 and you will see my biggest gripe about adaptive cruise, though I have a new one. To the right of the speed and to the top of the range to empty the set cruise speed is showing, but you can't see it because it's pale green on pale blue, and I struggle to make it out whine driving. It could be two points larger, too, but the colour needs to change. I wouldn't buy another n that point alone. My new gripe is the button doesn't work to add 5kph and/or resume, but in a couple of days It's going in for a warranty fix. I'll keep you posted on the results. The system is not user-friendly and there are much better ones out there. My 2011 SLK350 is far better.
8:28 You are spot on. About 400kms around town for a 480km estimate is unacceptable. Drive on the highway and it drops to about 300kms. I later discovered I could get about 20km more on the highway if I drop the regen to Standard mode. When the battery drops to 10% the EV chokes well before it should and it dies when your range to empty shows 10 more kms. It caught me out on my first road trip. The only EV to buy is one that can turn regen completely off, as it causes drag at speed.
9:57 Right also about onboard nav. Fortunately, with wireless connectivity we use Google Maps or Waze. Waze drops out in remote areas on the main highways, so Maps is switched. Waze has better features when you can get it.
11:06 Entry is good, but flakey - works only at very close range and sometimes takes two and three tries. Most other cars work much better.
12:23 There's a better view of the cruise readout - much closer than you see from a driving position, and how well can you see that? He hasn't set a speed, BTW.
12:57 I notice as the car passes you that your blind spot flashing in the mirror is turned off. No wonder you didn't like visibility.
13:28 The base model Dolphin is among the worst options in that class, while the top model is among the best. It's a strange thing, but do your research and see why. As for me, I would wait for the Hyundai Inster. You 'll pay more, but probably save more in the long term and have a better car that better suits your needs. A little bigger is the yet to come Kia EV3, as a recommend from me, but it sounds too large. For most people, the long range (for an EV) is a great asset.
    Cheers.

Wow thank you so much for the VERY insightful comment and thoughts. So much good info there and no doubt you have a lot more experience with the nuances of the car than I do.
Interesting point you make about the base model Dolphin being pretty bad, while the more expensive option is very good. Something to consider for sure.
RE visibility, I mainly just didn't like when I try to turn my head to look out the side windows that I can't see much. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I like to have a manual look out the side windows before changing lanes rather than relying too heavily on cameras and sensors. But you're right, I didn't even know about the mirror blid spot flashing option - I'll have to check that out next time I get my hands on one.

@@evsmarts You're welcome. I just had a lot of free time to give, since my Aptera-bashing is waiting for something to happen, lol. Another week and I will be back into it. As for the blind spot monitor, there's a button on the left of the centre console that is easier to use than going into the screen menu. While it makes it convenient, I wouldn't want a child to sit in front and turn it off without me knowing. At least my wife knows to leave it alone. All the best with your channel.

I tried and had an issue as well. After entering the email in the first box it takes me to a Notion auth page and after signing in/authenticating Notion it says I need to request access to your doc. Must be something in your doc settings Marty?

Kms is the plural of Km; Km/s is Kilometers per second (they drop the plural because it's too many s's). If you want to be a pedant, get it right.
