I was only making a joke...I also made a comment to say should aquire the other one the technician had and have him set it up 😎 didn't mean to offend anyone.
I would honestly find it impossible to ever sell, trade, or gift a guitar that Stevie Ray Vaughn gave me as a birthday present, or just gave me in general. You're truly giving away a piece, not just some random guitar, but an absolutely massive piece, of "Blues" and "Music" History. The World lost easily, one of the top guitar players, regardless of music genre, at only 35-years young.
You people are failing to understand that a kid isn't going to view his uncle the same way as the general public. It's a just a cheap guitar his dad's brother gave him one time.
Please...things don't mean the same to everyone...especially material things. If such simple things can benefit another while paying for a car, house or college education...more power to them. I find autographs and such things silly always...this is just a larger scale for some.
Ah... to have the video of the restoration would have been great. But the Guitar, Story, Nephew, and Stevie Ray Vaughan are worth watching this for. I'm never disappointed with an excellent Guitar story. Thank you.
My dad has this same guitar that he learned on when he was little. How rad to see that Stevie once owned one too. They sound great! Gold foil pickups definitely sound vintage.
That is a sweet find! You guys came at the right time as well. We're starting to have 100+ temperatures this week here in Austin and it will probably be like this for the rest of the summer. Cheers!
i had the pleasure of playing a guitar Stevie had played. He came to Chicago and he played at Biasco Music in the mid 1980s. A guy I know was there and watched the impromptu concert. After SRV was done he set down the guitar and was signing autographs. My buddy picked up the guitar and bought on the spot. He didn't even know how to play. I had the pleasure of playing it next after Stevie. So cool.
Spencer is the man and a super nice guy. I feel blessed that I can pop down the street and ask him a question about this or that regarding one of my builds or have him do the work that I can't do because I don't have the tools like cutting a slot for a roller nut.
Good on ya, lass, what a piece to own, Mimi!! You now own a guitar that was once owned and played by one of the greatest guitarists' of all time!! Rock on my lady!! Kind Regards from your #1 fan in upstate NY, USA. ✌🏻♥️
Stevie can be seen playing that guitar in 1975 and 1976 while with Paul Ray and the Cobras. There are pictures on line. One was taken at Soap Creek Saloon, and fits my memory of seeing them in 1976. Funny story about meeting him back in 1976. I was the DJ at another club, Stevie came up to talk to me about the Sammy Hagar LP I was playing. Only time I ever talked with him, but saw him play many times.
Congrats Mimi! You have a peace of history in your hands. What a truly amazing feeling that must be. Perhaps you can give that to one of your children some day. Take Care Luv.
I think Kurt is right! My first impression of the guy presenting the guitar from the back of a car was very fishy! A cheap Harmony from back in the day and no nut, strings, pick up! If I was to put money down on it I would want to see pics of srv holding or playing it some kind of documentation saying it was his! Had to be an expensive trip for a dissapointing inexpensive guitar! I have heard that harmony is making a come back with new models! How cool! Good luck with it Mimi!
Wow this is amazing! See I told a few years ago blues is for you! Not to give it up. Bam look were you are at. Im so proud for you. If ya remember a few yrs ago I mentioned to ya to take a look at the Texas Blues Style. Especially Stevie Ray's style. Then fast forward to now you have a genuine SRV guitar and sounds sooo good. Im a Native Texan. And yes for the most part Texans are friendly and good people. Cant wait to hear post some vids of ya playing the geetar!
My first guitar in high school (1964)was a similar Silvertone (made by Harmony) with dual pickups and a sunburst finish. I loved it and used it in my first band (Lincoln and the Continentals).
Great job on getting that neck in playable shape. I have a 74 SG that had the same neck problem. Put on acoustic strings tuned it up. Threw it back in the case and stored it in the attic during the summer heat. When I got it back out, it was perfect. No more trust rod buzz from the nut being too loose. lol.
What's exciting to visitors is what's day to day here in Texas, kindness, courtesy, hospitality and respect for others. Yes, we have our share of bad actors, but most are ignored or found locked up.
Hola Mimi, welcome to Texas. I'm live here in Dallas. Spencer is the guy i used to work on my guitars. I wish i knew you were in town. I would had love to see you play.
This guy has a story. I’m from Big Spring Tx.. He reminds me of this “friend” of my dads back in the early -mid seventies. Dark, slicked back hair, combed back with a process in the front, D/T in the back. Fast talker, could sell a painting to a blind man, and would.
Fantastic video and guitar playing! At about 4:50 the Memorial Highway sign for Trooper Richard Dale Cottle becomes visible. Dale was killed in the line of duty in a crash north of Waco near that location on May 9, 2001. He is still dearly missed by those who knew him at DPS after all these years. Thank you so much for posting.
Awesome find & story here . Thanks for sharing this one & glad to see a piece of guitar history from the past going to hopefully a piece of current history in the making Mimi . Your videos are showing your emergence as a guitar player in your own right . 😎👍
That exact model year and color was my first guitar. I got it when I was 10, I traded a baseball glove a Monopoly game and a broke down Honda for it. 53 years later I still have it, its spends most of it's time retired hanging out with about a dozen of his and my best friends...
Jimmie sold one of Stevie's guitars and donated 100% of the sale proceeds to Eric Clapton's Crossroads Center for the treatment of addictive disorders. This video does not explain what Tyrone did with the proceeds. We know that Janna has sold many numerous items that belonged to Stevie to private collectors, as they no longer held any significance for her. She has sold his poncho, his wallet, his squash blossom necklace, his AA medallion necklace, his boots and hats, as well as many hand-written notes.
A friend of mine lent me that exact same guitar in the late 70s. It played and sounded decent except the strings are not grounded. I ran a ground wire from the jack to one of the strings at the tailpiece so it wouldn’t hum while playing. When he got it back he was all ticked off at me because of the added external wire. Anyway, it is great to know Stevie had one of these Harmonys.
Had tears in my eyes just kooking at the guitar to begin with 😭 and then you folk got it fixed and it sounds❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. Great musicianship and vibe by the way… cheers all of you \m/
the best guitar tech is in corpus. Ish works with jimmy vaughan and Los Lonely Boys. used to know Tyrone before he was outta high school lot of mutual friends. you found the guitar royalty
Darn you were at rock & brews in the colony. I wish I had known, would have loved to meet you. Big fan. And I LOVE Stevie Ray Vaughan! Great video thanks for sharing!
I pulled a harmony out of my neighbors trash can, rewired the electronics and it was my first electric guitar when I was a teen back in 1976. 47 years later I’m still playing some Custom Shop models.
Lucky girl! Not everybody has a Stevie Ray Vaughan anything! Especially one of his very first guitar before becoming famous! That guitar will hold it'd value, if not increase in value! You'll make it a Mimi famous guitar!!
I saw Alejandro Escovedo play an old Silvertone a few years back. It was the same model that Jack played in our grade school garage band back in '66. Black with white trim and a short neck.
I can't believe this man would part with that guitar. That would be one of my most treasured belongings and something that should stay in the family.... wow
I have one like this, but with two pickups. It is weird to say that I put a srv style strap on it about ten years ago. Black leather with 3 white notes. It was my first guitar and I will keep it all my life
If Stevie Ray Vaughan gifted me a guitar for my fifth birthday, I doubt that I would ever part with it, but to each their own.
Or let it get in that sort of shape
I agree man. Damn
He's probably sold hundreds of Stevie's guitars that was gifted on his 5th birthday... AIN'T IT JUST AIN'T IT 😜 lols
@@jeanlawson9133 Don't be so cynical. This is someone they trust.

don't worry, it never saw SRV
Eventually you move on and make space. I'm sure between him and Jimmy they have an unreal collection.
Kid in the guitar shop was so sweet! :)))
Mia, thanks to you and Chris for sharing this adventure! SRV was an amazing guitarist and is greatly missed! Enjoy your new acquisition!
Really enjoyed that! Thanks Mia.
I ordered the pedal Texas Twang. Thanks for sharing, and thanks to Pedal Pawn for the discount!
i really appreciate that! i’m sure you’ll love the pedal! enjoy 😊

Summer time
My dad has this same guitar that he learned on when he was little. How rad to see that Stevie once owned one too. They sound great! Gold foil pickups definitely sound vintage.
There are people out there who still have TALANT to rebuild and repair.. Nice to see you have a special gift.
It's Home! Texan's go the extra MILE! Welcome MiMi. Wish I could welcome you to Texas in person. Love your video's.
That is a sweet find! You guys came at the right time as well. We're starting to have 100+ temperatures this week here in Austin and it will probably be like this for the rest of the summer. Cheers!
I’ve been a huge fan of yours since you began broadcasting! I’m so very very happy for you!!!!
God blessings for your journey forward ❤❤❤❤❤
WoW! Great save from a talented luthier. And great playing by an ace guitarist. THANKS!🎉
Welcome to Texas from Houston! Glad you’re enjoying it all!
I was at that Farm Aid. It was a very hot day but we made it through and then when Stevie came on when the sun went down it was incredible.
i had the pleasure of playing a guitar Stevie had played. He came to Chicago and he played at Biasco Music in the mid 1980s. A guy I know was there and watched the impromptu concert. Awesome Mia! R.I.P. Stevie Ray Vaughan!
Thank you Mia for taking us on this journey. Safe travels back to the UK. BTW you need to come to Florida if you get the chance.
Damn that technician is such a wizard! Props also sacrificing his own guitar to get the SVR guitar going!
Spencer is the man and a super nice guy. I feel blessed that I can pop down the street and ask him a question about this or that regarding one of my builds or have him do the work that I can't do because I don't have the tools like cutting a slot for a roller nut.
I would have robbed the right parts of other older relics too to save SRV’s old guitar 🎸
1/31/2024: So Cool. Good to see and hear you Mimi and Friends. Best Regards from "LA" (Lower Alabama)

I scoured the internet but couldn't find any. He was playing a 70's Strat in many from 75.
Cool story. Tell it again bro.

This guitar is in good hands with Mimi. That Harmony after this excellent work hopefully will receive a hard shell case. I'm happy for Mimi. 👍🙂❤️

So glad everything turned out good and glad you had a great time in Texas!
Thank you for taking us on your journey..!! " I am glad to see you. "
Can't stop watching you two. Watched you both on all your uploads.
So happy for you! Wow! Playing the same neck as SRV! Unreal!
Very cool Mimi! Thank you for sharing.
"You saw him 5 times?"
"Yeah, between 4 and 6"
😂
I can only imagine how awesome it is to have a part of SRV with you. Congratulations! I hope our Texas heat wasn't too harsh on you.

This is exactly what i thought, if the story is true, the sentimental value would be too much to part with like that.

I met SRV once and he was a beautiful soul - that Guitar is Sacred - he said you don't practice - You play
Absolutely wonderful video, well done.
Can't wait for a video (or MANY videos) of you jamming on this exquisite vintage one-of-a-kind axe! 🎸⚡
What a trip!! - also, thanks for this discount code on pedalpawn - finally picked up a Texan Twang!

Wow - that is some shredding - you know it's great when you don't even need to look at the fingering!!! Sweet axe!
It's good of your friend to give you some 'support'.
The fact that you were gifted with this movie says a lot about you being a guitar player and having alot of love for Stevie
Guitars are made to be played. Very cool that they brought this historic axe back to life.
Big effort for a great guitar! Congrats!
I saw Stevie Ray's guitar at the Arlington? Guitar show back in the early 2k's I think with a friend one day. Glad y'all found it a new home 👍 🎸🎸

The guitar is not the only thing getting played in this video...
No kiddin' ... so many Johnsons getting played :).

I recently installed a 2-way into a 61 Harmony H49 Jupiter Stratotone. Did a dressing and added a treble bleed. What a little monster
Harmony Bobkat H14 They are great! Unique sound with that "gold foil" pickup!
I have one with the 2 pickups. Got it & a 50's epiphone tube amp in a deal.
@@glenmartinez5158 OK that would be an H15. They can be great guitars! Time has not been kind to all of them though...
That was a cool trip, and a nice catch on the old Harmony from the Vaughan family 😊
Tommy Katona is a beast!

Yeehaw!! Looks like an ol silvertone...They used to have em waaaay back in the sears catalog...also seems to play like a danelectro.EXCELLENT buy.
You were right in my backyard! I live in Frisco (next to The Colony). Friendly folks for sure.
I had one of these exactly like that when i was around 12 im 70 now WOW

Glad you were able to leave Texas with the guitar in playable condition, Mia!
Cool it does sound old school. It turned out better than I would have ever imagined. That guy is great luthier.

that is a Harmony Bobcat H14, I have one that my grandfather gave me. It was my first guitar. I still have it.

LOl I had that same model. I bought it at a yard sale for $5. It actually played well for what it was.
I live in Austin! I hope you enjoyed our hospitality.
SRV lost a guitar at Toronto airport years ago . A Loomis carrier found it and kept it . The guitar never made it on the airplane . ✨🎸✈️🇨🇦✨🎼🎼🎼🎼
@Mimisounds you look so tired from all your travels, but I sure resting with that piece of history made it worth all the while
Hey Mimi, this is so cool. Just like one of those afternoon TV shows, except a guitar is done up instead of a car. You're a rising star, girlfriend.
I have a Harptone 12 string 1969 owned by Rob Davis & used & used on MUD No 8 uk hit Lean on Me
Great Guitar

I loved this video. I started playing in 1963 and I remember the Harmony guitars. I could only get my GrandDad to buy me a Silvertone.
the silvertones were made by harmony during that time, so you had one.
I saw Alejandro Escovedo play an old Silvertone a few years back. It was the same model that Jack played in our grade school garage band back in '66. Black with white trim and a short neck.
I can't believe this man would part with that guitar. That would be one of my most treasured belongings and something that should stay in the family.... wow
hes probably parted with 20 of them all the same story.
Great playing Tommy, do you have a CD of available music?
