Just got an offer for my first BA role and salary range within £55k. Everything your guest said is on point and the world of IT is endless including so many opportunities within IT industry.
Wow, congrats! what company did you get the role in as the salary is amazing for a first time BA. Just curious because I want to switch to being a BA as well.
Wow this was great. I did my first placement as a junior BA for 6 months about 2 years ago. Got my BCS BA cert and prince2 foundation. I'm ready for my next role! I receive it in Jesus name.
Been working in IT for 30+ years, and have had many tech roles, from applications/systems developer to database programming. Been working the last 10+ years as a BA (currently remotely) and its been the most satisfying role. Pippa is right, being a people person definitely helps and makes the work enjoyable. Also having empathy and knowing how to read people helps as well, and being a team player. This is not to say the work is easy -- managing people and expectations can be challenging. It takes patience, doggedness attention to detail and the ability to effectively communicate, verbally as well and especially writing in terms of documentation -- use cases, user stories, design docs, test cases, etc. Its not for everybody but for those with the right skill set its a personally rewarding career. BTW, stumbled on this channel today, love it. You guys are great interviewers!
Really enjoyed this interview - as a tester I've worked with many BAs and they've been a good source of information wherever I've worked. Interesting background as well - Psychology to Business Analyst!
Wow, you all are all very beautiful. My spirit was uplifted from watched this. I truly enjoyed this discussion and the overall flow of this video. Sending peace and prosperity from the USA. Thank you Pippa, Ken & Mary!
These videos are so important. I am from a working class background and had no idea about professional careers where you could make good money. For me, I just went towards traditional professions which were obvious (but then networking etc was an issue!). So many options out there.
@@TheHumblePenny thanks !!! I just took a 4 month SQL course, I loved it. Then I did a diploma in data science which was in the form of a bootcamp. My capstone project ( all written in Python ) helped me because the hiring manager asked to vire my project. Then for the interview I had to present a case study with excel. Learnt: pivot ables, drop down menus, sumproduct, if statements ( like in SQL and Python ) did some rounding -4 as k argument) and a ton of other stuff but the data science bootcamp and SQL course really helped. I'll.only be using excel and google sheets for this though ! And some Tableau ! :-) otherwise my background has been in art and I have been an admin at a hospital for 5 years. So I feel very blessed to have this first job as a BA .
Always very insightful and relevant interviews in the series. The one with Pam got me rethinking my rewards. I will surely be following up with her. Thanks guys!!
Thank you so much for this very helpful video. Have seen some other videos in the series as well, and found them helpful too. Wish you all the best and may you reach more to young people. (Will come back to this video if some plans for this year become actions)
I am also a business analyst, it seems business analysts have similar characteristics and tends to spend money on hubby, learning, sports, all in all something interesting rather those bling bling useless jewelry.
Hey Ken, could you do a video about buying gold and silver. Thinking about it a lot but this might be a new challenge to create a video on this topic. Thank you
@@TheHumblePenny really amazing 😍 I hope you are going to continue with them. Please is it possible for you to interview someone working in asset management?
Hi there I'm currently in college with going for an MIS degree and minoring in Healthcare informatics. But my end goal is to become a Business analyst after college do you know what I am doing is good and what tips anyone would provide, much appreciated.
@@TruePathLiving so healthcare was my backup, for example I do wanna be a BA or Data analyst, but I would also like to work in healthcare industry as one of those

Is there a way to get into BA without any IT experience? I am currently a department manager in a warehouse. I think I may have transferrable skills
If you had to suggest other IT/business roles which don't require programming what would they be

Really enjoyed this interview, would love to hear more from Pippa, eg some examples of how to analyse personal finance on excel 😄
great to hear, more than a salary of a full professor at uk university.
Interesting. Especially given she's earning that much without a relevant degree. Says a lot!

Any skills bootcamp for business analysis role in the uk.
Great video, I'm a Senior BA with 8 years experience. How do you calculate your expected earnings?
A bit of a niche field, but try interview a quantity surveyor!
Interesting suggestion
Do you have any software developers in the pipeline?
Good suggestion. We are working towards one :)
Is the BCS certificate she mentioned recognized in the USA too ?
Yes it's international
