Would love to see a presentation on Steve’s experience in Slovenia. I know he talks about it a bit in his book Beyond the Mountain, but would be so cool to further explore the attitudes and culture of the Slovenian climbers from Steve’s American perspective. Wish he could have had the time to really go deep on the mountain culture, especially with how things are now with Instagram and social media today-how has that changed the culture, and on an individual level, the “spirit” of Alpinism? If you ever wanted to go deep on that Steve, you’d have at least one listener!

Can you index these videos with questions and times?

Hey there, although this video is two years old I have a question nagging, so after watching this video and not finding the answer, I’ll try asking here.
In the 50s it was very popular using drugs like amphetamine to do the harder pushes. Reading and hearing about your extreme ascents, Steve, I am really asking myself if it is possible climbing for 60h with only some minor naps without using sleep inhibitors?
    Keep up the good work!

Hi Aaron, Yes this was asked when we did the climb. But yes, it is possible as we did it. We had caffeine but no other drugs of any kind. -Steve

@@UphillAthlete hey Steve, thanks for the fast response - it seems rapidness is your strength after all. 😅
That is absolutely impressive! I, coming from a past as a DJ and event organizer in techno music knowing all the shit, kind of not judging but having left the scene because of the omnipresence of the substances, am quite impressed by your doing. Sleep is everything for me, a bad night ruins the best days for me. Knowing you fought those devils of sleep deprivation, makes your efforts so admirable in my view. Thank you for answering this question!!
