@TaikaviittaX theres also the UC security where you can do a couple missions as a part time cop, I havent really explored it so I dont know if theres more to it or not, I hope there is. But im almost 30 hours into the game and have only scratched the surface
In that late mission in The Factory, I neglected to stock up on Med Packs and so I had to take it slow and nurse my wounds carefully throughout the whole complex. So I cannot say that I earned that ship for free.
The UC Prison shuttle is my best ship after upgrades, I use it to capture pirate ships. added a second set of engines (apollos), a good shield (Marduk), and upgraded the power plant, then put some horizontal weapon mounts on the front port and starboard, and run 2 of the 3310 particle beams, 2 of the 3300 beams and finish with a pair of EM suppressors on the roof of the cockpit.. Straight out of the box the shuttle has nothing to write home about but its winning factor is that it is super easy to build on since being a box it does not have all the fancy super interconnected bits that other ships have. Being an ugly duckling in a pack of swans, one has zero objections to tearing the shuttle apart to build it up. I would never rip up my Razer Leaf or Eagle... they are just too sweet. So get that shuttle and turn an ugly duckling into a swan, a very well-armed and deadly swan lol.
I wish I could upload footage of mine. But I'm on the steam deck until I repair my pc. But yeah I was about to sell mine and I slapped some weapons on it. Changed out the reactor and engines. Added some wings on the back to hold the new engines and it maintained 100% maneuvering its pretty fast and slaps in combat. Looks like crap of course cause I suck at ship building haha. But I can imagine with the right budget and right design that ship will rock.

I found a free ship called the Spacer Jackel on the planet Illum II at a Fracking Site. I was able to board it and fly away with it after killing 4 Spacers. It is a Class B ship with a large amount of cargo space and can be made into a nice vessel with modifications. I can't seem to leave a picture of it, but is a very nice ship to both fight with and carry cargo 1765.
Unfortunately for me, I never got the chance to use the armor because I managed to pull some better (read: higher def) armor from some of the spacers I killed. Now I'm just trying to get the mannequin to display it.
I went to some unknown spot on mars, not too far away from the landing pad and there was a ship sitting there and when I boarded it and sat in the pilots seat, it became my home ship
On van Maanen I I found near the civilian outpost an Ecliptic Stiletto. But I cannot pilot it yet I have to rank up piloting. Found it yesterday and today visited it again and it was still there.
The Star Eagle, with some minor cosmetic changes (i removed the wing/bridges so the engines are next to the body) and it has been a game changer for my game.
Same here. Knocked off the stabilizers, replaced the supressor guns with autocannons, and removed one module to shorten up the forward hull. Not only does the ship have better thrust-to-weight ratio, it now looks like a Defiant-class ship from Star Trek.
I got the Kepler R C class by 1. Picking larger budget 2. Doing two "destroy" missions (she will say "you only did the one mission" presumably meaning one type 3. Team building exercise. I did nothing optional.
hello i finished the ranger quest line tthe gang leader yet i didntt gett tthe ship only gun and badge will i need tto do all tthe quests on tthe computer o get it also i am doing the faction ranger quest lines
I actually used the UC Prison Shuttle as a base to build a second really good ship. My main ship, the frontier, i made into a GIANT ship (Class B with 2017 mass, working on making it class C)and am using as my main powerhouse, but its slow and doesn't turn well in battles. The UC Shuttle is way smaller so i made it a little dogfighter, just because i could lol.
I also like to get the uc prision shuttle, made mine into a C class ship that has 2 missile bays and 4 autocannons (plus 2 turrets just in case) it shereds shields and hull of ships in a instant... Ps: if multiplayer was an option you wouldnt want to face it head on :p
I got the UC prison shuttle first and wanted to upgrade it a lot, but then I discovered the Star Eagle, which kinda ruined my investment into ship part skills since that starts out with amazing parts.
You can pick up Overdesigned by talking to Walter any time after "All that Money Can Buy." "High Price to Pay" was just the first time you talked to him since completing that quest.
I have a comment and a request for anyone about the Keplar R. I had already done the mission when I ran across "How to do the mission" videos. I chose the low budget, but then as I talked to each member individually, I told them that their idea was great and should be included. In the end when I went to pick up my free ship, it was a Keplar R, not the S. I was wondering if this had happened to anyone else, or if someone was willing to try it my way and see if the initial choice is the deciding factor, or the individual conversations with the build team.
@@CptCalicoJack you also get the quest for committing a crime in uc space they treat you like a criminal because you broke the law instead of a member of the vanguard
Kurtz (the moon beside Jemison in the Alta Centauri system), has been the best location for free ships in my playthrough. I got a Starborn ship there yesterday by running up the wing, going through the door, and shooting the captain in the head (Sam wasn't happy!). It was literally just parked there beside a mining outpost close to the first landing area used in the early game mission. To be honest it’s got great range, but it’s not very good in a firefight and you can’t upgrade it. If I go back every few days a new ship has spawned in the same place ranging from Crimson Class Cs to smaller Class As.
You don’t have to commit a crime to get the prison shuttle. Just join and follow the UC Vanguard quest line. You will meet a UC fleet Commander in sol and infiltrate the Crimson Guard
Want a class c bad ass ship fairly quickly? Make sure you level up your pilot skill all the way. And your targeting systems at least level 1. Now I did this at around level 15, you could probably do it sooner if you know what you’re doing when it comes to space combat. But make sure to upgrade your current ships weapons. Doesn’t have to be anything fancy. Get a Tracker alliance contract that says to take out crimson fleet Wight. If it’s not there yet at the mission board just do all the tracker alliance contracts and keep repeating until it does. It shouldn’t take long to get a Wight bounty. But once you get fly to it and be prepared to only shoot at it’s engines with targeting systems. Don’t hit anything else. Once you disable the engines (for me I had to reload several times because I was doing too much damage and it would blow up before the engines were disabled so make sure to save) which for me it had like 1 hp left then you board it and take it over. The tricky part is it can blow up before disabling its engines. I thought it was impossible but I kept trying reloading and shooting the engines with different combinations of weapons. I found that if you get decent ballistics and power them up fully after downing it’s shield it works. But the wight is a damn good ship and it’s cool as hell
prison shuttle, I never got the quest like you say. Came across them in space and was sent undercover into crimson fleet, the shuttle was down the way of the quest chain and needed it to escape, then no one asked for it back so you just end up with it.
my understanding is no it is still recognized as the razorleaf. I just got it so havent tried to modify yet, so I would save right b4 modifying just in case.
There are many ships for sale. The most useless of these is the 'Transpo' which you can buy at Paradiso. It is not really a terrible ship, but it is so painfully mid in everything that buying it will scar your soul. The best ship available to buy early in the game is 'Sparrow' which you can buy at New Atlantis for 73K credits. I bit pricey early in the game, but a definite upgrade from the 'Frontier'.
no ones here to buy a ship. the video isnt " which ships are worth their amount in credits top 10" its " 5 FREE SHIPS. nobody out here BUYING these things. wasted credits.
@@maniacaldaddy6951 TANSTAAFL my dude. Everything costs something, time, money, effort, opportunity cost, etc. The Star-Eagle is not 'free'. Not even a little bit. Remember...TANSTAAFL!
There is at least another free ship you can get. I found a Derelict Colony Ship near one of the Antares Planets in Space, drifting there. Had to get rid of some Pirates that seems interested in that hulk of junk, but that were only small flys. On Board were 2 - 3 Military grade Bots and alot of Turrets. After cleaning them all... well I put all the Corpses in a small chamber at the back of the ship and closed the door, before I brought the Ship to a Yard for reparing and getting rid of the Corpses and bots. It isn't the nicest ships, but it was the first I got with the Engineering module build in and had alot of Cargospace for the start. (Two big outside Modules) Later I sold it, because it was the Ship I tested the Ship Builder Mode on and... let's say I made it worse insted of better. xD (and put more money in as I got out in the end -.- )
There's more but random. I got a free ship just running by an abandoned communication tower that had a landing pad... 2nd time I went by there, the landing pad had a ship called the UC Raptor or something...nobody around or inside, so I took it. But "free" isn't 100% true because you have to register the unregistered ships to do anything to them.
I like the kepler-s! Though i would love to have more ship designing missions! Though i also want an expantion of the max ship count, maybe add also a way to give your crew the ability to do work for you on other ships like doing some ship related missions like cargo hauling or passenger transport so you can earn moneu from having those extra ships
I think the best farm is still to put down a lot of weapon cases on a planet then save the game and return to find them all full of weapons. The trick is the higher the level of planet you use the higher the quality of weapons that spawn in the cases. I get Va’ruun inflictors etc from using the planet Bohr. I have experimented a bit but i have not used higher game difficulty you may try that. This does still work after the patch.
I got my first free ship on Mercury (not sure) - it just standing in one from generated locations near landing zone and was guarded with several eclipse soldiers. 89k cost. No quest required.
Um. Either you over simplified the Ranger quests, or you didn't add the farm investigation quest line. Which admittedly I put off, trying to clean up others. But now have two or three quests that all tie into the Corp investigation.
Sadly for me the ranger questline is bugged, after doing the quest where hope is built she tells you to go talk to a guy on Neon but the quest does not update for that, just finishes the one i just did without starting Shadows in neon quest. so sadly i won't be getting that ship.
I managed to steal a cargo ship and upgraded it from a stock cargo capacity of about 4,000 to 4,500 and installed ridiculously powerful particle beams and auto cannons. It’s perfect.
I wish there was an option to call your ship to your location but you can only use it once every 48 in game hours and also an option to have a rover on your ship you have a storage unit built for it and you can jettison it from orbit to a planet or moon you can choose for it to land straight to the surface and slow its decent you can remote controll it from your ship but the scanner is limited with how much things it could scan so you have to choose wisely what youre scanning Especially a scarce ressource or plant or creature
Oh, it matters! He mentioned the Kepler R was a C class ship, so you’ll have to be a C class pilot to fly it. I don’t remember him mentioning any of the other ship’s levels in this video.
I finished the Kepler R quest and lost All of my companions on my ship. They vanished. There’s a known bug when you hijack ships sometimes your crew vanishes l I knew about this so made a hard save BEFORE I cLaimed the Kepler R ship. The crew vanished from my followers period. I went back to my hard save. Still gone. Went to an earlier quick save. Still gone. I ended up losing five hours of gameplay to get them back because that was how long it was id hard saved. Infuriating. NOw I have to grind all of those missions again. Im already in the freestar ranger ship which didn’t have any problems. Just be careful until they fix this.
I did this mission went through all the steps but at the part of being given the ranger badge the next scene in the video show Sarah awarding the ship but in the game its Sam that’s the active companion which he doesn’t award the ship and Sarah is not in this mission. I reloaded the save numerous times but nothing changed.
Damn I wished I knew this before I started playing today so I just made my character and go look at the ship vendor and like damn they’re all so expensive. Been playing all day got about enough for a new ship, now I learn I can get free ones. Thank you so much I just subbed good info

@@brycedonelan1937 Similar thing happened to me! I got shanghaied by this quest after picking up some random miner sisters as passengers to Titan. The contraband scan from the patrol in Sol system came up positive for NO reason -- I hadn't picked up anything with the contraband tag on it. I can only assume I had my passengers to thank for this. I was so outraged that I refused the mission and took the jail time (the passengers were still patiently waiting to be taken where they wanted to go!). And now I've got a bounty from UC SysDef on my head that I've got to clear. It's an incredibly heavy-handed way to force a mission on the player, in my opinion. My family pointed out that I could have just told the guy sure, then never do the mission, but I'd been busy with something else that I was really caught up in and was too PO'd for that to even occur to me.
Tip for the Crimson Fleet infiltration questline: you don't need to commit a crime! You can enroll for the UC Vanguard in New Atlantis and one of your first missions will be to infiltrate the Crimson Fleet.
When you first get arrested and get told to go undercover I instead killed everyone on the ship, took forever, and ran. I had a huge bounty on me for a while
The registration fees are not that bad. I got a massive class C from the Mercenaries (likely a random encounter) and paid 16,000 credits. A ship like that would have cost 10-20 times that much. I have the Frontier ship, the one from the Mantis, the one from Eklund (S), the Ranger, and the prison ship. I sold the prison ship. They are all upgraded pretty far with the Ranger ship being my daily driver. I took out the wing struts and put in 2 1x2 bays on each side and doubled the storage. I had to move the fuel tanks above the wing in back by the fuselage. I also got rid of a 1x1 to make room for the larger reactor. This thing is a beast. I run 12 in lasers and they are the best (4MW or something like that). About 3-4 shots drops the shields then I lay in with some massive autocannons that rip the ship apart in about 2-3 shots. I have 6 in shields and I usually have 6 in the autocannons and 6 in engines with 3 in grav drives. This lets me have enough for 12 in lasers. My ship can hold 8 crew and 2 passengers. Sadly I have not increase Starship Command yet so I can only have 3 crew. I need to make a base still too. I am level 44 I think. I'm working on magazines right now though. I have 38 I think (out of at least 61). I did buy a ship to make with OK weapons and such, but mostly cargo and the ability to get 28LY as this is needed in the game to reach some systems (at least one I know of).
The point is that registering a ship costs nearly as much as you'll get from selling it. Registering ships isn't that expensive given that the ship was essentially free, no one is saying otherwise, we're all complaining that stealing ten ships, registering them so we can sell them, then selling them, nets us the same profit as just selling the weapons and armor from a single side mission.
@@SkimpyJigglesJr.-ff2ib It is more that the sell back rates on anything is what 1/10 or 1/15, or even 1/20. It sucks. You can't start with a clean slate, you must delete a ship for a fraction of what it is worth and then pay full price for all the modules, even if it was a module you deleted. It can not just store the parts of ships and draw from those when you build, only charging you for new ones.

Class size is specifically based off the reactor. Class B reactor, Class B ship. Class C reactor, Class C ship. You can't use parts that are a higher class than the reactor.
Careful with the Mantis quest... for some people, me included, the mission is bugged. When you get the ship and take off... only the compartments take off, leaving the thrusters and cosmetic pieces on the ground. Once in space you can not move... you can jump and land... but cannot fly in space. At times in the cockpit, you will not be able to pull up the menu to reload. I had to drop back down to level 5. I have not attempted the quest again for fear it will fuck everything up... again.
For the Kepler R, does it matter when you talk to all members and what destroy and combat mission are, constellation only give survey and explore missions.
Yes. The ship can be different based how you talk to the team and which bounties you do. I did destroy and delivery bounties and they took that into account. I know due to a guide I looked up later, they strictly did destroy bounties and got a more combat focused ship.

Maybe the prison shuttle can be used to pose as a transport to dock onto UC ships if youre a pirate.
Wouldn't it be outdated by 100 years?
@@chicks4503 Lol yeah good point xD maybe the terra preservation society would want one for their collections??
I agree 100%, That UC prison shuttle is a great ship after you change it into an almost completely different ship.

Thanks for this. The Mantis, and the suit in that place are just awesome!
You don’t have to get arrested for the prison shuttle, you can join the vanguard and it’s a quest later on
I just came across the prison shuttle being raided by the crimson fleet
On van Maanen I I found near the civilian outpost an Ecliptic Stiletto. But I cannot pilot it yet I have to rank up piloting. Found it yesterday and today visited it again and it was still there.

I scrapped the entire shuttle and built a ship from scratch for about 100k. It’s a good ship to have to simply scrap and build something new
The Star Eagle, with some minor cosmetic changes (i removed the wing/bridges so the engines are next to the body) and it has been a game changer for my game.
Same here. Knocked off the stabilizers, replaced the supressor guns with autocannons, and removed one module to shorten up the forward hull. Not only does the ship have better thrust-to-weight ratio, it now looks like a Defiant-class ship from Star Trek.
I got the Kepler R C class by
1. Picking larger budget
2. Doing two "destroy" missions (she will say "you only did the one mission" presumably meaning one type
3. Team building exercise.
I did nothing optional.
With the new Tracker Alliance released just days ago (June 2024) I got a free ship completing the first quest. It's crappy but it's free.
Wonderwell is actually the best A class ship. The only reason to use to the razor leaf over it is for the shielded cargo.
If raiders flee from the Razorleaf, how many ship parts of the Razorleaf can you replace and still have them flee?
Sounds like theseus’ ship

@deagle317 I'd still beat you with my frontier... or what's left of it (the landing gear is the only part that is still the same, lmao)
You can pick up Overdesigned by talking to Walter any time after "All that Money Can Buy." "High Price to Pay" was just the first time you talked to him since completing that quest.
All the ships in the game sell for pennies. But if you buy them they cost you your whole life savings lol ^^
The Kepler R is what happens when someones given a random box of lego parts and told to "build a ship"
You got the better ship
The Crimson Fleet questline triggered for me when I flew into the SOL system and was scanned with contraband in my cargo hold.

I found a starborn ship but it said inaccessible when I attempted to access it.

Star Eagle without question is not only the best Class A ship but its better than any Class B as well
Some people call me the Space Cowboy... some call me the gangster of love... 🎶
I’ve been doing nothing but side quests so far. Yet to get back to the main story quest. Game is great so far.

(Two big outside Modules)
Later I sold it, because it was the Ship I tested the Ship Builder Mode on and... let's say I made it worse insted of better. xD
(and put more money in as I got out in the end -.- )
“His ship” and “his armour” despite the entire Mantis quest line be about someone trying to claim his MOTHER’s inheritance.
You also get the prison ship during the UC vanguard missions to infiltrate the fleet. You will go on the mission.
I have a feeling that the razor leaf is a razorcrest reference and mantis is the mando
something you should add, theres a hidden stash on the razorleaf but you have to be wearing the mantis outfit to access
Thanks, I would never have known the Mantis mission was so lucrative.
You can also get a free little ship called a Dagger, it's not unique, but free, but no bigger or better than the starting ship.
What is the Pilot class required for each ship? or does it even matter?
good point tho ^^
Oh, it matters! He mentioned the Kepler R was a C class ship, so you’ll have to be a C class pilot to fly it. I don’t remember him mentioning any of the other ship’s levels in this video.
Beware, if you get too far in the story, level 30 enemy star born ships will spawn at the Mantis quest planet and spank you hard before you can land.
dont know about every one but the armory on the razorleaf eats weapons when u out them on the weapon mounts, but the weapon boxes work fine.
I finished the Kepler R quest and lost All of my companions on my ship. They vanished.

Short, sweet and to the point. Blows my mind that the Razorleaf (Mando callback) is a class A.

I remember getting a small bounty put on my character while killing robots while exploring a structure so I assume this also counts ?
Actually the mantis was a female bounty hunter. Once you find the ship there is Dialogue about you found my ship and it's played by a woman.
Does the free star quest affect any current relationship with the UC ?
