If I'd known that you were going to South Bend area I would have offered to buy you breakfast or lunch or something because depending on the route you took you may have gone through where I live in Portage Indiana.
Hey guys. Great kalf. What we do to stop them howling is give then 2 liters of handwarm milk. There is special powder milk for them. If you give that every evening and morning she wil do great. And then you can give her less everytime. Greatings from the netherlands.
They make that non skid material for stair steps. The pieces are much larger and flat, they are similar to roof shingles. You might also try roof shingles, if you can stick them down secure enough.
If that truck bedliner doesn't work, maybe get a horse stall mat? They're pretty cheap and heavy duty. Normally has a ribbed side and a smooth side ... possibly you'd just need sections of it between each of those ridges.
If you have some from a broken belt , some textured baler belting might work to bolt down to the floor it would be closer to the width of the sections in the chute, but hope the spray works would be simpler have fun
MAKE A ARTIFICIAL TAIL (prosthetic) THAT CAN ATTACH TO HER REMAINING TAIL FOR FLY CONTROL...😮 Maybe use a shortened bull whip or leather belt with a horse tail hair cluster attached? Or have your butcher give you a skinned salt dried (preserved) end section of Steer or Cows tail so the hide section can fold around the existing tails end and be tied down wrapped some how without a tourniquet affect. Maybe a Vet can give you some help or other farmer have delt with the same idea. GOOD LUCK
Evan you better watch out. Rebekah will have Ellie sitting at the table and sleeping in bed soon. Lol She loves her animals and is just the sweetest person. Be safe. Till next time....
So happy you found another heifer, wondering if she may need some milk replacer because she is so young. At her age she could probably drink it from a bucket
The algae in the water troughs are the bane of my existence lol. Been so hot here in Texas I've had to scrub it every week. The 80's are coming though, finally.
Have you thought of adding rubber mats to the base of your crush? I watch a farmer in the UK that uses them in his milking parlour for comfort for the cows.
When you pulled the tractor up to move the tank and said “quickly” pick it up and move it somewhere else, I just knew …good job! The new heifer is sure cute!
I'm glad y'all finally got another companion for Maya. The algae in the trough is a good thing. It removed crap from the water, and wouldn't be able to grow if there WASN'T crap in the water. Just rinse the trough. No need to pressure wash it.
Welcome aboard Ellie Mae, you were picked by the right couple. Evan will probably come up with some tail feathers to attach to the end of your tail to sawt the flies away. Thanks for sharing with us Evan and Rebecca, you got yourselves a nice playmate for your aggressive Jersey, hope she learns some manners. Everything is looking great around there. I sure hope the bedliner spray works on the floor of the cattle chute so they don't slip and fall so easily. Be careful around there and keep up the great videos and fun you always make of things. Fred.
Glad to see you got Maya a companion she’s a little noisy but she be ok. Get stuff and spray her to help with the flies since she has a short tail. Thank there’s some products you can hang between two post and they can walk under to help with the insects and you can spray it with things also to help. See the pond is still green though at the tractor show you were talking about something you did to take care off that. Have a great day oh how’s Rebecca’s car after she took on the tree across the road 😊
Awesome, glad to see you guys found another another heifer. Hope they settle in good together. It'll be interesting to see what happens with the bed liner in the shoot. Great video thanks for sharing
Maya will be happy to see Ellie. The farmyard is hopping with all the animals all going everywhere to pasture and the pigs wallowing in he mud. Everything looks good, healthy and well fed. Thanks for the up-date and video.
Wow what a cutie! She sure likes to bawl! The farmstead is looking great. You are going to have to buy another freezer or share with family! I live near South Bend… nice to have you in our neck of the woods! Thanks as always for sharing. You and Rebecca are a great team and you sure care greatly for your animals. Happy animals make the best freezer campers!
Old thick conveyor rubber screwed to base of shoot is the best to stop cattle slipping. Seems to last forever on all our shoots with 100+ head of cattle using it regularly.
I USED TO DRIVE A AIRLINE REFUELER, THE GUYS WOULD TAKE AND MIX SAND WITH TIRE BLACK AND IT MAKES A GOOD TRACTION PAINT FOR OUT TRUCK STEPS AND FLOOR, GOOD LUCK
Is there anything you can put on her tail to help with the flies? Like how you see dogs or what not with prosthetic legs. Maybe there is some way you can make a fake tale, so she can try to keep some of the flies away.
Give the calf a little bit of sweat feed mixed in with you're regular feed for a couple of months will help with the calf weaning we did it in a separate area from their moms when we gave them a little bit of grain twice a day the calves would go in their and eat and they didn't cry for their moms when we separated them
As I ask myself "Why didn't he strap that tank to a pallet?" (I even said it outloud 😂) Ellie is a beautiful girl. I look forward to watching her grow. #seeyainthenextone
I thought about the stall mats in the squeeze shoot too. A possible problem to consider, if you leave them down all the time, is they'd hold moisture underneath and lead to rust. That happened badly in the old steel horse trailers under the mats. If the trailer sat outside the metal and the wood floors eventually rotted out, even if you kept them clean. With the spray coating you shouldn't have rust problems? I always envied those who had the barn and shed space to keep all the equipment under roof and protected. Really enjoyed this video, seeing all the animals. You guys are doing well. 😊
Ellie May is adorable, congrats on getting her. She will do that for about the time you said. Good luck with your new heifer, all the animals are looking good. Thanks for sharing, I hope your week has been good and the rest of it goes great!
If the anti slip idea doesn't work, think about trying a stall mat. Cut the mat to fit, the weight should keep it in place without any glue. That then allows you to take it out to clean occasionally.
Elle Mae is a beautiful little calf. What a sweet face. It's good that Miah has already called down, now that she has a friend to talk to. Thanks for sharing the chore time. Those of us that live in a city, don't realize how much time is needed on the little things. There is so much more to it than passing out feed and telling them hello. Y'all have a Blessed day.
Dang guys, you were around the area of where I was born and raised! And then you were right there where I lived for like 25 yrs. now I just moved to Tucson Az. Oh well, if you ever get out this way, would love to meet you. I love your channel, watch every time. Thanks for taking me along on your journey. ❤😊
If you let the cattle wear the paint off and rough it up, it’s all good go, it won’t really rust since you store it inside, I have a pretty good feeling that raptor liner is just gonna wear off
You might consider getting Ellie 's horns removed (for safety).probably someone who can do goats or cattle could do it. You mentioned earlier vet. Services were difficult. Should be done soon, easier on her. Always enjoy your videos!
I'm not a farmer but if the bed linger doesn't work you might want to get some old mud flaps and screw them down to the Dimond plate.. I can't think of anything more anti slip than a rubber mud flap. Wow you did travel quite a distance for Ellie. Cool though that you could find someone that close. Keep em coming great video.
Good job but I would try to find some of that conveyor belt Made out of rubber That stuff works pretty good too Good for a base Have a good day we'll talk to you again say safe
Maybe think about stall mats I believe they use them in horse stalls for comfort and traction Question aren't you worry about Birds of prey taking turkeys and chickens?
Hi..... Evan and Rebecca nice to see you Love watching your video homestead beautiful great good job I really enjoy bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋👍👍👍
Add like beach sand , play sand to the top couple of coats , it works 👍
If I'd known that you were going to South Bend area I would have offered to buy you breakfast or lunch or something because depending on the route you took you may have gone through where I live in Portage Indiana.

Thanks Guys

Poor baby 🥺 I wish you would’ve seen if she’d take a bottle & then wean her over 2-3 weeks. She’s beautiful
Thanks for sharing! She is precious! God bless your family!
Absolutely love your and Rebeccas place. 100 percent perfect. 😎
If that truck bedliner doesn't work, maybe get a horse stall mat? They're pretty cheap and heavy duty. Normally has a ribbed side and a smooth side ... possibly you'd just need sections of it between each of those ridges.
Good idea. Thanks for the suggestion
If you have some from a broken belt , some textured baler belting might work to bolt down to the floor it would be closer to the width of the sections in the chute, but hope the spray works would be simpler have fun
Rubber mat or Weld cleats in a grid pattern
Hay Evan cool to see you found a new jersey cow she looks great turkeys love the new area thank you for sharing blessings
Looking Good 👍
No clue if a prosthetic tail switch might work for Ellie, but a google search did find one plus some ideas like making one out of baling twine.
MAKE A ARTIFICIAL TAIL (prosthetic) THAT CAN ATTACH TO HER REMAINING TAIL FOR FLY CONTROL...😮

Back in the late 70's I went to a Christian school in South Bend Indiana. I am so glad you got your new calf.
Hi, Evan and Rebekah! I live the new baby calf.
Go to your local grain elevator and see if they have some old elevator belt that you can fasten down to the floor of the squeeze chute.
She sure is cute, she couldn’t have a better home. And they will be company for each other. It will be warmer there for her also God bless ❤
I love Rebecca's farm shoes!
The algae in the water troughs are the bane of my existence lol. Been so hot here in Texas I've had to scrub it every week. The 80's are coming though, finally.
Glad to see Rebekah found herself a jersey heifer. Another great video guys. Keep em coming.
She’s right about the buddy. Take note Evan, your farm is a safer place now!
If the spray doesn't improve grip for the animals, Lowes or HD sells paint with grit in them. Typically gray in color with grit mixed in.
Pretty little heifer!
Have you thought of adding rubber mats to the base of your crush? I watch a farmer in the UK that uses them in his milking parlour for comfort for the cows.
Big changes donw on the farm. Love it
Yay 😊 Ellie ❤
Excellent video.
I’m happy to see that you found a new young heifer.
The bed liner is a Great choice
This was a nice soft-paced video. You accomplished a lot and got to burn some gasoline too.
Rebekah you have a heart of gold when it comes to your animals. Love it!
When you pulled the tractor up to move the tank and said “quickly” pick it up and move it somewhere else, I just knew …good job! The new heifer is sure cute!

thx again
The new calf is very pretty too Rebecca. Have a great day enjoy watching you both. I live only a couple hours from Moab the place on your hat Rebecca.
Farm work is never done. Ur place looks Cool..
You really need to consider having a vet remove those horns on that calf. She will be safer to work around. Best of luck. Thank you for sharing.🐂
Enjoyed your video nice looking heifer. Have a great day.
Enjoyed watching!
Glad she found her a friend and I’m interested to see if the bed liner works
Nice addition to your farm. Blessings
Gotta love the choice of foot wear around large animals 🤪
Can't you buy cattle mats in your local farm store? Fit them to the floor of the cattle crush. They are popular in milking parlours here in Europe.
So happy for you guys!! Looks healthy as well ❤
Enjoy your videos! Thank you

I got some old conveyor belting from a local crushed stone company to screw down to some ramps that I had made for better traction. Worked great.
Thx
Good stuff guys :)
Glad Mia has a new friend I’m sure she will soon settle love the name

If the truck bed liner doesn't work out, try those gym floor tiles, the ones that look like jigsaw pieces
Beautiful beautiful brown eyes 😊

Hi Guys, love your new calf. Is there any way you could bind something to her tail to help her with swatting flies.
Congratulations on finding Ellie! Always love your animal videos.
Good stuff👍🏻👍🏻
What you call a squeeze Shute we call a cattle crush here in the UK. Great video. All the best 🇬🇧.
That tank would make a nice air tank inside the shop .
You should rent a concrete saw and cut some groves in the concrete at the door way. Cattle can spit the rear end
Rebecca couldn't resist those big Ole brown eyes. Can't blame her she's a beauty
Great video as always.
She will get to know you all better!!

With the bottom of the squeeze shoot get some waterproof paint and mix in a course sand or grit and paint that on it will texture the whole floors
Enjoyed the video and the animals😊😊😊
I saw you on Pete's channel. Subbed.
Dang guys, you were around the area of where I was born and raised! And then you were right there where I lived for like 25 yrs.

Hi Evan
I Wildered Rio on the bottom Cattle crush floor. I find it works great
If you let the cattle wear the paint off and rough it up, it’s all good go, it won’t really rust since you store it inside, I have a pretty good feeling that raptor liner is just gonna wear off
Hey evan if that paint doesn't work try doing it again but put sand on it when the paint is still wet it will be like sand paper good luck
Cute calf
Love her! My dog is ellie mae!
You might consider getting Ellie 's horns removed (for safety).probably someone who can do goats or cattle could do it. You mentioned earlier vet. Services were difficult. Should be done soon, easier on her.

Cut rubber stall mats for your squeeze chute. Never wears off.
JudithB Beautiful heifer!!!
Are you going to lace the tank on some concrete pads. If you leave is set on the ground it will deteriorate faster
❤️👍👍👍
Good job but I would try to find some of that conveyor belt Made out of rubber That stuff works pretty good too Good for a base Have a good day we'll talk to you again say safe
Hello Evan
Maybe think about stall mats I believe they use them in horse stalls for comfort and traction
Question aren't you worry about
Birds of prey taking turkeys and chickens?
Tractor supply has 4x6 rubber mats
I believe there’s a guy around Rockville Indiana that does full refurb jobs on propane tanks.
Elle mae is a winner, thanks.
you got that jersey heifer by my home in Bremen
