There are some amazing bamboo houses on TH-cam. Particularly in tropical climates you can build those very reasonably and you don't need glass nor insulation materials. Very nice to live in a bamboo house in Palawan for example.
started growing bamboo 5 years ago, here in south west Nebraska, lumber is so dang expensive, and I like to do crafts also. also makes a nice burning product on a cool night.
Brilliant conclusion!!!A must SEE video for truly nationalistic & ecological Filipino politicians.....M.I.B. takes a new meaning...Make It Bamboo.....Thanks!!!
You can use a thin cotton material to protect your house from insects and snakes. Like a mosquito screen, but cozier in cotton form and white to let light in. I like the icon you have of the bronze lion.
I agree, I saw a whole series of houses in the Phillipines constructed of bamboo, mostly open air. A little cold for that here. Also not sure about the birds, bugs and snakes!
I would live to have one I am in Thailand I think those bamboo can buit a good house to my familly.please share with me how you make it.I have a lot of bomboo.
Lovely house but what about combust ability of the bamboo and stability in high winds? How is it for extreme temperatures such as heat? What about cost of building compared to brick and stone? Building codes...is it acceptable?
Looks are obviously very subjective but I do like this home, Not sure it would be insulating enough for winters in Southern Australia though. Other eco alternative and also a grass is Straw and strawbale construction is super insulating and fire resistant and of course renewable :)
@karasjake my father use to say when we would go to another town, that to be good for what ever I did would get back to him in this area everyone is connected some how.
There are plenty videos about beautiful bamboo houses. BUT an it's a big BUT...Nobody ever talks about termites. Bamboo is predominantly tropical as are termites. And termites eat all but the hardest or most poisonous woods. They would eat the house in this vid in couple of sittings. I'm not against bamboo but will someone address the obvious problems please...??!!
I guess the point is that he says his client wanted a bamboo home ... first thing, but you look at that and the major constituents appear to be concrete and wood ... bamboo appears to be a decorative and facade. It looks great ... It's just not what I would expect to see as a bamboo home.
It does appear that by weight or by volume there is a lot more wood in that house than there is bamboo. The bamboo seems to be like a finishing facade, with lots of green marketing going on. The product is very cool ... it just does not appear to be as green and wonderful as they make it sound. Those big wood beams are not so sustainable.
Nick you are my hero ,the world needs more people like you.One day i will own a bamboo home that i know i will enjoy and love for years.
Beautiful interior :-)) not too many people don't realize that the bamboo house is the ideal home in the Philippines because of the hot weather.....

Truely living life
@taleeni I agree, there definitely needs to be more color contrast on the interior at the very least. It has quite allot of potential though.
Is labor needed to erect on of these buildings included in the price of a house? If not, how much does labor cost?
want to live there
Amazing

How long can a house like that last?
Shaolin Silva treated bamboo or pre-engineered bamboo (usually used in modern designs nowadays) can last 20-40 yrs
How the smoking is done. Kindly help.
@donze52 I live down there too small world.
He said that they used All reused materials including the wood that is used.
bamboo doesn't give you splinters very easily its a grass not a wood, plus its a refined polished bamboo so even if it was a wood it wouldn't.
What if it catches fire?
Not much different than a wood house...
fucking brilliant
I really wanted to like the house, but I didn't. The exterior is appealing, but I couldn't get into the interior.

Bamboo is not green anymore. They remove forest to grown the bamboo.

More than likely, Hawaii.
