    As an older Catholic, I'm happy to see that younger generations are still Catholic. When I go to mass during the week, its only old people there. Even my own children have fallen away from the faith, and hate me for mine! ( No I didn't badger them )
    I have studied many other religions in my search to love God, and I find myself having come full circle back to Catholicism. Yes , even though the church is dealing with controversy and schism, there are faithful Catholics that love Christ and try to live his commandments and are thankful for his sacrifice. I especially love our celebration of the mass, in response to Christs words " do this in commemoration of me"
    The search for truth causes us to sometime be the Catholics you describe. An honest and pure heart seeking the truth and following the greatest commandments spoken of by Christ, will reveal truth to each of us. I'm old now, but still search for truth. I'm happy to a Catholic Christian, but I am being careful to not be misled by some of the false directions that our church leaders might teach. The gift of discernment will reveal Gods truth to an honest heart. Be careful. Love God. Be thankful for the salvation gifted to us by Christs death.
    May you be blessed in your faith by the most high God, our Father and creator, his beloved Son and the Holy Spirit that dwells within each of us.

      +Dan Seluk If you are going to the Novus Ordo Mass, I recommend looking for a traditionalist parish with Traditional Mass (Latin or Eastern rite). There should be people of all ages there.

      +Hemolymph I'm curious.. I've started going to Tridentine Latin Mass as well. I've brought up to our parish priest and others of influence at my "home" parish that I thought WE should look into the Tridentine Mass. I felt like younger persons (i'm 53) would love this form of Mass.
      What are your thoughts on this, from a Millenial point of view?

      Jim Kovac Yes, I was going to say the Charismatic Catholic but I think the Pentecostal Catholic covers it better. They're the ones that hijack the Mass in your local parish with all their hand holding and raising their arms every time the congregation responds to the priest. Next they'll be trying to be speaking in tongues at Mass.

    Former protestant, Very close to home. I am a proud PRC, Potential Roman Catholic haha. I've been going to Mass and its been exciting. I've wanted to be a Catholic for a very long time but, misinformation and complacency held me back. My deep interest in Roman Catholicism actually comes from that fact I am very passionate about Knightly Culture (Chivalry), Medieval history and Medieval Catholicism. The Knight of Christ and Chivalric Ethos are very important to me, and the Catholic Church had a huge role in the Middle ages supporting that and facilitating that in my opinion still do that in a different way. Very atypical conversion story, but I am a very atypical person in this modern world. My Favorite Saint is St. George and it is My lifes Dream to attend a Latin Mass in Western Europe just like the Galahads, Teutonic Knights, and Chivalrous knights of the Middle ages. I thought you would be interested in my unique story and God bless you, I admire and respect you for what you are doing. I am so excited for RCIA in the future and Mass this weekend i can Barely contain it. What I love about Chivalry and Knight of Christ so much, is it exists To Glorify Christ and defend His Catholic Church. Id be one thing if a hobby led me away from Christ but for me it makes my faith 100x stronger and is there to Glorify God, and for me the thow things are hand in hand.
    I have acleteic music tastes but yes Gregorian Chants!!! I love Salve Regina. Dies Irae, In Timore Dei and so on

    I'm a mix. I play guitar, and feel I express a lot through that style of music, but within the liturgy, I'm feeling more and more drawn to the TLM or one of the Eastern Catholic liturgies. I'm Polish, so of course I love me some St. JPII and the TOB. I miss BXVI, but I'm loving how Francis completely eludes being pinned down to "conservative" or "liberal" narratives.

    • @michaelrex6948
      @michaelrex6948 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Tim Spangler
      I'm confused at why you say that. If you're criticizing Latin, then you'll have a massive discussion on your hands. If you're talking about something else, I have no idea what you're trying to say, and I can't fathom how it's relevant.

    • @timspangler8440
      @timspangler8440 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Michael Rex I'm saying COMMUNICATE. Spiritual dialogue is supposed to be open for everyone....not only for the select few initiated in the in crowd.

    • @michaelrex6948
      @michaelrex6948 8 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Tim Spangler
      Latin does communicate. Gregorian chant is Liturgical music- for use predominantly in the Divine Office and the Mass. Few laypeople pray the Office, and the laity do not need to understand the Mass, because the Mass is about God- not the people. If God can understand it- and obviously He can- then Latin communicates as well as vernacular.
      Additionally, Latin is the language of the Latin Rite of the Church, and hence is (should be) universal throughout Latin Rite Parishes.
      If Latin were (again) universally adopted in Latin Rite Parishes for use at Mass, then anyone who knows the Mass (most people who attend the Latin Mass know at least the parts that they may say during the Dialogue and High Masses) can say the responses; whereas, under the current system in which vernacular is the norm, one can only say the responses if one knows the vernacular (meaning if someone is visiting a foreign country in which a different vernacular is spoken, he will likely be unable to give the appropriate responses).
      The Latin is not hard to learn. I've studied it for about half a year, and already know most of the servers' and congregations' responses for the Latin Mass, and even know a fair deal of what the Priest says.
      Furthermore, vernacular is more subject to misinterpretation than Latin, as Latin has fallen into disuse as a vernacular.
      _There is not a single reason for vernacular to be used in the Liturgy_, save for the readings. ...so, please tell me why you're complaining about Latin.

    • @mrg8guy
      @mrg8guy 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      +Michael Rex i second your opinion. As a cabin crew, i have attended Mass all over the world with the language problem. Would be way better if Latin was universal. Then i wouldnt need to carry my almost 2lb missal ;)

    Haha! My father's family is Ukrainian Catholic. I was raised Roman, but from the limited exposure I've had, yes, that Eastern hymn still gets stuck in my head. Perogies and kielbasa forever... I was a Tolkeinite, apologist, demonologist, theonerd and liturgeek, but now refer to myself as a "baptized pagan". Paganism at its best is the religion of poetry and heroism. That's the kind of Catholic I want to be: gleaning the good parts of today's culture and throwing the rest in the garbage, where it belongs.

    I just stumbled upon this. Wow! What are the odds? I went to St. Gregory the Great grade school in South Euclid, Ohio, before it became the "cool liberal" place you speak of. The nuns beat us daily! They really packed a wallop! They sure weren't liberal! LOL! I got a huge kick out of this video. Do you need to Baptised I'm order to be catholic? Because I was camping a while back and got in a huge fist fight with some people in my boy scout troop, and I felt horrible about myself. So I walked around the huge camp grounds and found an outdoor catholic chapel, and I decided to pray for the first time in my life. Ever since then I felt more at peace, and aligned myself with the Catholic faith. I sincerely want to know this. Please feel free to answer me.

    • @davidwhiteboy2053
      @davidwhiteboy2053 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Nicholas Kerby In order to fully be in union with the Catholic Church, you need to be baptized and receive Holy Communion. You can begin the process to do all this simply by visiting your local Catholic parish and and expressing your intent to become a Catholic to the priest there.
      God bless you. It is no accident that you felt such peace at a Catholic Church. It was established by Christ Himself. Take it from me, someone who lived on the wrong side of life for many, many years. Nothing is as satisfying as Christ. No earthly pleasure amounts to what His Love is like. I will keep you in my prayers, my friend.

    • @nicholaskerby1422
      @nicholaskerby1422 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      David White I'm sorry, but I forgot to mention this. It wasn't Sunday, so the priest wasn't there. What I did was that I found the place and felt a sense of peace and a need to pray. That's when I became in touch with God.

    • @nicholaskerby1422
      @nicholaskerby1422 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      David White also I don't know where a Catholic Church is in my city, and my family isn't really the religious type. I never really go to church, but I still believe in God.

    • @davidwhiteboy2053
      @davidwhiteboy2053 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nicholas Kerby It doesn't matter that it wasn't a Sunday. You felt an overwhelming sense of peace and that's excellent. Now, the next step is to move forward in the faith. I am sure there is a Catholic Church in your area--look online, there's bound to be one closer than ten miles unless you live in a very rural community.
      Praying is an excellent way to get in touch with God, but as Catholics, we have the awesome Sacrament of the Eucharist. There is no way to form a more deeper union with the Lord than through receiving His Body and Blood. All the prayers in the world couldn't amount to one, single Communion.
      If your family isn't the religious type, express to them that you feel drawn to the Catholic Church and explain why. Ask them if they'll permit you to pursue the faith. If you're a minor and they forbid you from doing so, you will have to respect their wishes until you're an adult but you should still try explaining to them the positive attributes of Catholicism. Who knows, they may even decide to join you :)
      God bless!

    • @nicholaskerby1422
      @nicholaskerby1422 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      David White I am a minor, of only sixteen, and I explained to my mother my situation. She said every morning she also says her prayers over her coffee and before bed. She said it would be better for us to go to a Christian church instead, as she affiliates with Christianity more than Catholicism. I don't really mind this because I can still pray to God, and I know that all Catholics are Christian, but not all Christian's are Catholic. So I've decided to take from both faiths.
      I appreciate all your help my friend, and even though I'll be going to a Christian church, doesn't mean I'll abandoned that special place in my heart I found when I visited God in that Catholic Chapel.
      God bless!

    EcoCatholics: The Catholics who are very much concerned with environmental issues. Have a: good sense of social justice (as environmental issues often tie into them), a devotion to St. Francis, only read Papal encyclicals (or parts of them) that pertain to green issues. Big fans of the most recent Popes and can see an environmental angle in a Scripture passage and when they say pro-life they are pro-the-life-of-every-living-creature-on-this-planet. One of the few Catholics you know who cares about Earth Day and probably drives a hybrid.

    • @katanah3195
      @katanah3195 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm one of these. I was Pagan as a child, and now I say "We are called to be stewards of the earth, not to destroy it. We must see the Creator in all creation, we must seek to understand the Creator by understanding creation." That's probably at least material heresy, but some things I will never forget from what I once believed.
      I think there's a big difference between pro-life and anti-abortion. You cannot be pro-life if you don't care about the child once it's born. To be pro-life is to be against abortion, against killing anything without need, against concentration camps and genocide, and against the death penalty. Just because the state does it doesn't mean it's not taking a life. You cannot support or be a bystander to unnecessary death and be pro-life.
      Dear anti-abortion politicians: If you were really pro-life you'd take a stand against trading with tyrants who kill their citizens en masse.
      Dear anti-abortion activists: If you were really pro-life, we would hear just as much about the death penalty as we do about abortion. If you were really pro-life, you'd pray outside prisons, executions, courthouses, and public meetings as much as you pray outside abortion clinics and Planned Parenthood.

      Also Baptist Catholics: Ending all their sentences with Praise the Lord, Hallejuah, God is Good. Possibly also putting hands in the air or over their hearts. They are incredibly grateful, and very vocal about it.
      Note: I went to a Mass with a "Baptist-y" Priest, and was really confused for about 10 minutes, as it had a Southern Baptist country church feel, with lots of Hallejuahs. Luckily the form of the Mass and the giant Divine Mercy Jesus helped me remember that it was definitely a Catholic Mass.

    "Super Charismatic istic expi ali docious!" (the Charismatic movement-obsessed Catholic). Say it like Mary Poppins and it's easier to say. :P
    The Christian music lover. Maybe something along the lines of "Upon this rock, I will build my worship playlist". Though there's also the pop variety for which I'm having a hard time thinking of a pun.
    Your own channel description of "I don't know if there is a bigger fan of EWTN than me" makes me wonder what you'd call someone who is Catholic TV-obsessed.
    "EWT-N-tranced"? Catholivision? Catholivisionary?
    I wonder if you've met someone who seems to try to join as many parish groups as humanly possible. "Captain Parish!" Or something along those lines maybe.
