I have claimed to be Catholic my entire life (30yrs) and not until 3 or 4 months ago, I have dove deep into understanding my faith and have been blown away with the lineage of the Catholic church. It is truly an amazing religion to be apart of. I am a proud Catholic ✝️🛐💪 God bless to all my brothers and sisters 🙏❤️💙❤️🙏
Same here. I am 55 n trying to dive into Catholicism and other Christian Brothers and sisters to know how deeper and beautiful our faith is living and worshiping God
Which part of the lineage are you most proud of? Was it when the church led a military siege which involved murdering women and children? Was it when the church allowed its rich members to literally buy salvation and reduced time in purgatory? Was it when they sided with the wrong side in WW2? Was it when they tortured and killed people for pursuing scientific knowledge? Was it the kids thing? Which part are you most proud of? It's quite the history!
I am Protestant, but I have attended a Catholic Mass before. I must say the reverence, respect, and servitude towards the people I met there was amazing. Such a heart-warming and friendly people.
Glad to know that despite the media we are still leading by example. We are so reverent in church bc Jesus is present in the tabernacle (when the little red candle next to it is lit) truely present in the Eucharist. We welcome you to bask in His precense whenever you need Him.
Having left the Catholic Church and attending Pentecostal and southern baptist services I caught myself going for the show and performances rather than the word of God. I came home to the Catholic Church a couple years ago!!! It feels great!!!
I used to be Catholic, but then the Lord brought me out of the Catholic Church because it is not of God. I went to the Lord humble and without bias, genuinely wanting the truth and He showed me. And just because people say they’re Christian or say they follow Jesus, doesn’t mean they’re teaching the right salvation and right doctrine. It is extremely difficult to find the right doctrine and teaching so that’s why we must rely fully on the Lord to guide us, than follow what we think or feel because we are all imperfect. God is the perfect one. If you would like to know how we are saved and about how some Catholic Church doctrines contradict the Bible, here you go: docs.google.com/document/d/1B2BgEqoNlFmzfDd2MUFveVQ465YzL2ls6cPP-ylEm3s/edit?usp=sharing
@@nightly555 Thank you for sharing, but you’re incorrect as is your reference. I beg you to scrape the scales from your eyes and broaden your research. Read the Church Fathers and how the OT leads into the NT. This is the Catholic Church! It took me many years of going to Pentecostal, Methodist, Southern Baptist and non-denominational churches for me to accept the truth. I wanted emotional ecstasy and prosperity, not the Word of God - I was there for the show, the performance and the emotional high. I do consider all Christians to be my brothers and sisters in Christ, but some are not in full communion with Christ. Please do a little more research and God bless you.
I was a lifelong hardcore Athiest until just a few years ago. I accepted Christ by reading the Bible at home alone. I started going to various churches a couple years ago looking for somewhere I’d fit, all Protestant because I never even considered Catholicism. However, I went to a Catholic mass for the first time a few months ago and instantly knew I was home. Looking out over the congregation for the first time, on their knees worshipping Christ, moved me to tears. That’s what I was looking for, holy-spirit filled WORSHIP. Also, Catholics take communion (the Eucharist) every single mass, and Jesus told us to do it in remembrance of Him when we come together. Only knowing the Bible without knowing churches, mass is what seemed to me to be most Biblical and holy.

When I visited London, I attended Mass at Our Lady of the English Martyrs. Beautiful little Church. I loved the history of the bomb that fell through the roof and didn’t explode in WWII. Blessings.
@Eucharist Angel I assume you’re referring to 2 Corinthians 10:5? I agree with that verse 100%, and I actually started my research on Catholicism to prove it wrong, however once I truly started digging deeper into history and the Bible, I couldn’t prove it wrong. Which denomination are you? Do you believe in the Eucharist but not transubstantiation?
Christ said beware the harlot church. All cathedrals are idols to Roman empire rule and power. Just keep that in mind. Christians gather in Word and in Truth, Christ.
@Eucharist Angel I agree that we need to demolish arguments that detracts from the truth, but Catholicism is not in that list. I’m curious, which denomination are you?
I’m an MBI grad from ‘77. I learned enough there to begin inquiring into the faith. I was so blatantly anti-Catholic that they were the last place I would look. Changing my own theological views several times, I knew that intensive exegesis could still yield several options. Sola scriptura wasn’t enough. I decided to study church history. I went backwards from present day to Moody to Wesley & Whitfield to Luther & Calvin. I sensed greater depth as I moved further back through time. It was like watching the faith be watered down as we got to the present. Delving into the earliest Christian writings, and up through 550 or so, I saw how they understood scripture. It was very different than my Evangelical Baptist faith in many ways. Their view of grace coming through sacrament, of grace interacting with earthly elements as sins were washed away in water & anointing coming through oil & truly receiving the flesh and blood of Christ in the Eucharist, was earth shaking for me. There was no doubt that they all spoke of a Catholic Church. I yielded to Anglicanism at first but knew it fell short. After looking at the fractious, divided churches of Orthodoxy, I humbled myself to go where I never thought I would, Rome. Despite the messes & problems, I am happy to be home.
Great! I was a Protestant for twenty years. Converted to The Faith two years ago, right after went to Latin Mass and the Bible CAME ALIVE! I saw the God of yesterday today and tomorrow; the TORN CURTAIN. The graces bestowed through the sacraments are incredible. May God bless and guide you.
and the trinkets, beads, apparitions, medals, smells & bells, statues, pope ring kissing, confession booths, votive candle addictions, praying to saints, and Jesus caged up in a gaudy monstrance thingy (concecrated Host) paraded around under those tacky umbrellas is just what JESUS SAID DO? sad!
@@Reid-yy5nw well that was quite a response. Do you get the sense that Jesus supports moral relativism as well? Self interpretation of the Bible? I’d be willing to explain, to the best of my ability, the Faith to you; instead of arguing. I understand its foreign, because I was there as well.
@@TheGushroom I understand Matt, and I understand you. Maybe you're right it's not so great. But I am a Catholic and I fell in love with these 2 young protestants. Aeneas Sylvius, before becoming the pope, wrote that everything was for sale in Rome, and that nothing could be had there witout money. A generation later the monk Savanarola, with the exaggerataion of indignation, called the Church of Rome a "harlot" ready to sell her favors for a coin...he was burned at stake "Wolves are in control of the Church" cried the high Spanish prelate Alvaro Pelayo, "and feed on the blood"of the Christian flock. Id rather die then to sign an agrrement with that unbiblical bloody stinking harlot called church of Rome.
Eliza seems so sweet. Former Protestant here, my husband and I came into the Catholic Church together 6 years ago. I enrolled into rcia to prove to myself that Catholicism was not legit. A year later, I got confirmed! Lol so cool y’all are on this path together. God bless
HOW COULD YOU? So you bought into trinkets, beads, apparitions, calling priests "Father," confession booths, indulgences, cult like obligations or hell, medals, relics, praying to saints, sprinklings, Mary as co-Redeemer with Jesus, weeping statues, smells & bells, kissing pope rings, gaudy monstrance thingies in Benediction street parades, and purgatory for starters? HOW COULD YOU?
@@Reid-yy5nw What's your point? Are you Catholic? Former Catholic? Do you think that those things are taken as superstition by faithful Catholics or frivolous things? Unless and until you understand what all those things are that you mentioned, do not put those things down or insult them or insult Catholics who use those things. And believe it or not, there are many Protestants who pray the Rosary because they have come to realize that when praying the Rosary, we pray the Gospel. It 's obvious you have no idea what the Rosary truly is.

Thanks to both of you! It's so refreshing to see non-Catholics with minds open and willing to step inside a Catholic Church. May God bless you on your journey.
Yes - but as one gets to know the Catholic church, there comes a time when one cannot be "on the fence" for so long, that a decision has to be made to accept or stay outside (deny) the church. - there is no more "Invincible ignorance", If one is already given or have seen the knowledge that has to be had of the Catholic church. - "If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains” "Outside the Church there is no salvation" How are we to understand this affirmation, often repeated by the Church Fathers? Re-formulated positively, it means that all salvation comes from Christ the Head through the Church which is his Body: This affirmation is not aimed at those who, through no fault of their own, do not know Christ and his Church: (CCC 847) Those who, through no fault of their own, do not know the Gospel of Christ or his Church, but who nevertheless seek God with a sincere heart, and, moved by grace, try in their actions to do his will as they know it through the dictates of their conscience - those too may achieve eternal salvation. Invincible ignorance, however, is not the only condition for salvation apart from the sacrament of baptism. The Church also teaches that such individuals must “seek God with a sincere heart, and, moved by grace, try in their actions to do his will as they know it through the dictates of their conscience” (CCC 847).
@@maryweisenbacher1034 yes, of course they should look into everything and decide only when they are ready. - Christ eagerly awaits their homecoming into His church. bless them
As a Preist and a Benedictine monk I am SO GLAD your experience was with a church that does liturgy well! At John’s and the Cannons are great! Great content!
@Eucharist Angel ...please re-read the scriptures with the Paraclete infused together with your spirit. I promise you, a transformation of proper understanding will envelope you. Catholicism gives you deeper answers..God bless.
...here and there you make sense, but not enough to be a substantive and embodied understanding. Catholicism maintains and offers you the real meatiest truth, because it encompasses sound spiritual tradition and profound scriptural base, which provides for one a sense of belief security. Whereas...as l read your input, you are liable to be swayed here and there ..hence the need to try and over explain a verse taken out of context and end up starting your own denomination, adding to the 40k already in existence. On the whole l agree with some points you make. Christians need to unite under one church body as Christ commanded. Our differences are not major..instead human pride is the mainstay of various divisions. That’s what the enemy wants. God bless 🙏🏼
@Eucharist Angel you misunderstand me. I wasn't impressed and it wasn't intelligent. Usually when there are ranting anti Catholic replies that long, they are copied from websites...I've caught people doing that a lot of times. I guess if you're the one who wrote it, you're the one who sounds like their tin foil hat might be a bit too tight.
Thank you Eliza for your views on your first Catholic Mass. I was born a Methodist and when I was a teenager I started searching for a place that felt like home after going to so many different churches the only place that felt like home was when I went to the Catholic Church. I converted to Catholicism in my early 20's. Learning the history of the church is so important. I recommend A Bible in the Year with Father Mike Schmitz.
Love this video! Congratulations on your engagement! I came into the Catholic Church in 2020 from a Protestant background. Before I decided to convert, I felt so sad that I could not take Communion when I would go to Mass. My desire to receive the Holy Eucharist pushed me to research the Catholic Faith, which eventually led me to enter the Church.
In my journey thinking about converting from SOUTHERN BAPTIST to Roman Catholic, upon reading the Catholic authors (Hahn, Pitre etc.) the closest I got was Lutheran or Episcopal, and no way Catholic. I drew the line in the sand when the pagan or voodoo Catholic ADD-ONS started creeping in. None are anywhere near what Jesus said to do for salvation. Bye bye Rome! (example: swirling a consecrated host [Jesus] sealed up in that gaudy monstrance thingy under umbrellas--oh vomit)! Even the ORTHODOX don't do this stuff! And they need a Reformation too. OK?
Walking in to a Catholic Church is like walking to a museum! We have the most beautiful churches in the world 🌎 It's human creation to show love to God.
And yet I think 50 across Europe , huge cathedrals have been sold and are being turned into bars, restaurants etc.a;tars being turned into bars... so sad.
The Protestant Reformation was a holocaust of art in many parts of Europe. The more radical views of Calvin, Zwingli and others saw public religious images of any sort as idolatry and priceless works of art were systematically destroyed in areas where their followers held sway. Catholic art has played a leading role in the history and development of Western art, of Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, the sacred Gregorian chants, music from Beethoven, Bach, Vivaldi, Schubert, Mozart, etc. - beautiful traditions of the church.
Thank you for the respectful approach to the Catholic liturgy. As a Catholic, it is very nice to see young people like you studying religious matters and approaching the Mass with such respect and open-mindness. May God reward your efforts with enduring peace and joy.
I love being Catholic so much! I love seeing people discover the treasures and richness of my faith. Also, I really love Eliza's hair; it is so beautiful.
I enjoy your videos brother. I’m a former Baptist looking into Orthodoxy and Roman Catholicism. My gf is Church of Christ and she doesn’t understand a lot of the things I’ve come to believe over the past months regarding the sacraments and everything. It’s hard for her to grasp and it has caused some problems in our relationship. You two encourage me. Thanks and God Bless.
If you are talking about "restoration movement" church of Christ, I am from that too, and looking into EO (and a bit into RCC) At this point I am internally orthodox in many ways, but understand how church of Christ people feel. Interestingly in my congregation of c of C the preacher beleives in the real presence in the eucharist, and even is open minded to the sacrament of confession (though I am not sure he realizes it.) However I recognize this is not normal. For me one of the major keys was the incarnation. God became flesh, and that shows that matter plays a role in salvation. if your gf is c of C then she would partially understand baptism, though I do not know how her preacher explains it.That might be a starting point. God bless you both.
Be patient with her! Have small discussions over time. Know the faith so that you may adequately explain Orthodoxy as well. The disconnect is often a social one, a hesitancy based on not knowing anyone and hearing a foreign language. These things take time.
My husband was raised Church of Christ and we both converted to Catholicism. Strongly recommend for her the book "Born Fundamentalist, Born Again Catholic." It's written by a former Church of Christ pastor who converted. It addresses each issue chapter by chapter and is easy to understand. God bless and hope she gets on board!
Don't force her bro. Let her do what she likes. Let her take her own time. And you keep praying for her. The Holy Spirit will guide her if you pray for her.
I find it weird as an Anglican that so many Protestants are so unfamiliar with Catholicism or the mass. It's like having an aunt or uncle you've NEVER met or visited, even once... I'm glad they did this and I hope others do the same. We are all one big family.
Understand the Catholic Mass is not a service. It's a Mass. It's the literal response to Jesus's request that we "do this in memory" of Him. In Memory-does not mean what protestants think it means. It doesn't mean to just remember. Protestant services seem to me to be more about the pastor than Jesus.
To add. The Hebrew word for Remember here is the same as the Old Testament "And God remembered Israel". But in the OT it doesn't mean God forgot Israel and then suddenly remembered them. Remember means to re-member, to fulfil promises, to act according to a promise. So when God saved Israel he was fulfilling his Covenant with them. To remember is an action, it is to do the Covenant. So when Jesus says during the last supper that his blood is the new and everlasting covenant, we remember by eating(gnawing) his body and drinking his blood as he commanded.
Eliza you did great! The Catholic Church is very deep and rich and even as a lifelong Catholic I'm still learning. I do respect your willingness to explore why we do what we do bc there is always a bible based reason. What a wonderful gift God has given us.
Not always Bible based. The Catholic Church is Bible plus Tradition. Much of our mass developed over time according to traditions. Jesus actually gave zero instruction for how to organize the church, but he gave Peter authority. And because we are the only church that can trace its lineage all the way back to Peter, the traditions we have developed over the last 2,000 years carry the authority of the Christ. But by that same authority, the church could reform itself when it sees fit. As it has done many times.
@@admininfo536 some of the traditions predate christ period on earth and come from the Jewish faith. Things like the tabernacle come Gods instruction to moses.
This is a great video! Thank you, Eliza, for your comments and for stating your observations without ridiculing Catholicism. The first time my formerly Protestant boyfriend attended Mass, he was also confused, and quite frankly, weirded out by the Mass. Through his own research and prayer, and of course, through the power of the Holy Spirit, he entered the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil this year. God bless you both on this journey and congratulations on your engagement!
I'm in the process of becoming a Catholic. And I loved it like I've never loved anything before.. I look forward to going to mass again and again. . Great video btw. You both did great.
This is wonderful! But don't be deceived, the church in Rome with Bergoglio as head is NOT the Catholic Church. You don't need to trust me, but check it out for yourself! The Catholic Church was infiltrated by modernists(modernism=condemned heresy!). At Vatican II they took over and changed the faith(step by step in small things), also the liturgy(novus ordo), the rites of ALL sacraments(acc. to previous popes doubtful or invalid!), relics and statues were removed, table instead of altar, everything Catholic had to go for a false ecumenism(another heresy), traditional priests removed, retired, suppressed... Tridentine Mass forbidden! My playlist "TRADITION", "modern errors"... will explain more. In order to be Catholic pls study the traditional(pre Vat.2) faith, my playlist "Baltimore Catechism", I recommend (on archive org) Catechism of "Trent" & "Spirago" & Ludwig Ott, "Fundamentals of Catholic dogma" best compilation of catholic dogmas(=what you have to believe as a Catholic), on the Mass: "Cochem's Explanation of the holy sacrifice of the Mass", confession: my playlist "Spiritual Conferences". You also need to find an independent traditional Catholic parish who practices the faith > luxvera org Take your time, learn the faith and do some research along with prayer(rosary). It is worth it! Hope you'll find the truth. God bless you!
Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof but only say the word and my soul shall be healed…. May many souls know His healing through your channel Austin… blessings to you both. Paul
Rev. Peter Leithart, whom I have often described as a "high-church Presbyterian," says that the pastor should face "East" because he is leading the people of God in the battle against the powers of darkness (or words to that effect): the general does not lead the army facing them and with his back to the enemy.
Glad you posted this. Very interesting to get the non Catholic perspective. She did great. The short answer on “closed communion” is faithful Catholics believe in transubstantiation. That after consecration of the bread and wine, through the action of the Holy Spirit, they become the body and blood of Christ who is truly present under the appearance of bread and wine
Great video!!! Again... MY RESPECTS to both of you, other protestants would criticize Catholicism and even insult. You are honorable. God Bless you both.
She is adorable!! Treat each other right. Stay faithful. You are blessed to have found one another. Do not let anybody or anything come between you. Blessings on your upcoming marriage.
The young Lady describes the Novus Ordo as being like a Lutheran service. So Bugnini accomplished Protestinizing the Mass. I hope this young Lady attends a Tridentine Mass, being instructed on what goes on at such a Mass beforehand. She would be amazed. I so much enjoyed this Video!!
I was a revert to the Church in ‘95 after 12 yrs of Protestant/ non-denomination church hopping. Something was missing…the Sacrifice and Eucharist! I wasn’t catechized well at my Catholic school (post-60s warped Catholicism). I and my brother left with my parents in the early 80s. Eventually, they all completely stopped going to church period. I did slow down and wouldn’t go every Sunday myself, but was still seeking God. I finally attended a theology class that a person with a theology degree, was giving at a parish I ended up at because we moved to a new area and I had no idea which church to pick (was at a Baptist for 3 yrs prior) THAT Sunday they had info on the class starting that week. It was every week (aside from holidays, vacations) for 1 1/2 yrs. First night of theology of Creation, I was blown away, by 2nd class ALL IN!!! Went to confession and able to start receiving Jesus in His Holy Eucharist. It saved me in many ways! Eventually my parents came back and my brother and some relatives, especially after reading the Divine Mercy by St.Faustina. Although three are numerous other inspirational and informative Catholic books to read, as well. Protestant services, not all, try to be fun. It tries to APPEAL to the SENSES- get “hyped up” as you said. Latin Mass (established in the 300s and codified at the Council of Trent in 1545-1563),or, Novus Ordo Mass (during 60s), but many are flocking to TLM, honestly, as they should. If other Catholics would swallow their pride and would learn the history of the Church and the Vatican I-II Councils and the encyclical Sancrosanctum Concilium, and do the research of the highjacking (that we aren’t allowed to say, even though it’s true and there’s proof) would learn how we ended up with the Novus Order Mass (“New Order”) The TLM churches are “forming more young boys and men for vocations to the priesthood, because families are living an authentic Catholic life: most have a father as the head, a mother who is home, or works if necessary, raising the children, which many are homeschooling and more so are not exposed to inappropriate dress, words and behaviors, electronic social media that are so accustomed in public, as even some Catholic schools who have secularized are like public school, where Marxism has gone full-throttle. I don’t say this in an absolutist or degrading way, but the N.O. Mass doesn’t have the seriousness of the elements below: In Traditional Catholicism, at Mass, it appeals to the sense of beauty, tradition, heavenly music with Gregorian Chant, with an inward sense of importance. There is more silence for prayer and spiritual introspection and opportunity in reverence with more kneeling. Especially, receiving our Lord on our knees and, not touching His body, by reverently receiving on the tongue by the priest who is persona Christi/ in the person of Christ. The Mass is dated to 30 A.D., the Last Supper (read John 6:28-70 carefully), “earliest surviving account of a Mass” was by Justin Martyr ~148 A.D. Originally, in the Church, the language was Greek, but changed to Latin to be understood universally through the Roman Empire. In the 4th century Latin became the language of the liturgy as well because of unity, mystery of the language, because the Mass is primarily the Sacrifice of our Lord- where as it isn’t considered mainly an instruction/sermon; Latin meaning of words stay the same instead of changing meanings to the same word; it’s a Sacred language reserved for worship of God, rather than mere communication with other people, making it special as how God should be addressed. I would suggest looking up and ordering the Latin-English Booklet Missal for TLM (Red book), so you can read the prayers and it has little notes of what they do and why. You’ll be blown away by the High Mass TLM! They usually have the little red book missals available. Look up latinmass.com to find a parish that offers TLM. Some are diocesan parish churches and have one TLM on Sunday. So you’d have to look up or call the church to know what time. Also, dress up a bit (of course, not everyone has the means, but dress your best whatever you have) because you’re also participating in a wedding feast: Jesus the Groom and us,the Church, His Bride. Most men wear suits or a dress shirt with/without a tie, slacks, khaki pants and dress shoes. Try not to wear shorts, flip flops. In the practice of modesty, most women wear dresses and skirts below knee or to ankle, some do wear slacks; usually a light cardigan to cover shoulders and chest area-not to cause distraction to men, even the priest- they are STILL human. It’s good for women to “assist” in the custody of male eyes. Men are visual; women are more thinking/emotional. So, plunging necklines (suggest you wear a camisole/tank top underneath that adds more coverage; no short shorts or shorts at all, flip flops. You do not have to veil. Personal preference. I started 20 yrs ago. So it’s ingrained in me. ⬆️⬇️Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi, Lex Vivendi. As we Worship, So we Believe, So we Live. Know that going to Catholic Mass is not what WE get out of it, but PRAYING the Mass and offering ourselves (our prayer to God) to Christ in His Sacrifice, as His re-presentation of His death on Calvary, in which He literally gives Himself to us in His mystical miracle of His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinty under the accidents of bread and wine. If we do well to offer as much as we can at His Mass, the more grace we receive. Caveat: if not Catholic or aren’t a practicing Catholic, you cannot receive the Holy Eucharist. Non-Catholic would have to complete RCIA/OCIA in the Church and receive baptism if your Baptism wasn’t Trinitarian: Father, Son, Holy Ghost. Lapsed adult Catholics would need to finish any Sacramental preparation they may have missed; or, go to confession and tell the priest you would like to make a lifetime confession and he’ll walk you through it (if not, whether he isn’t familiar or thinks it’s not necessary, I suggest you find a different priest- unfortunately). TLM priests do it all, as they should, if they truly take care of what was passed down in the Church, what was hidden for decades. Tidbit, we use the Mass instead of “service”, because it also has meaning: the word "Mass" comes from the Latin phrase Ite, missa est, which means "go forth" or "to send out"; which the priest says at the end of Mass and the response is Deo gratis! : Thanks be to God! God bless+
@@GospelSimplicity I once heard a Catholic member of the clergy jokingly describe all of the repetitive standing, kneeling and sitting during a Catholic mass as "Catholic aerobics".

1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. the catholic gospel is simply false and should never be promoted for any reason whatsoever, Catholics need big churches so the simple minded will follow their false teachings.

Dont worry, you can forgive yourself and ask for forgiveness to the people you have harm in the past and try to be the best you can be from now on. There is no skydaddy who is gonna fix us. We humans fix ourselves and can help fix others who need and want it.
Hi Casey, there is a Prayer by St. Theresa of Avila called “ Prayer to restore lost time”. Pray it faithfully and give your life to Christ. God be with you.
Thanks to Eliza for sharing her thoughts. I just was received into the Catholic church, gave my first confession, was baptized. confirmed and received first communion on Saturday at the Easter vigil. I think that it can make people feel left out when they are not able to receive communion. However, even Catholics cannot receive communion if they are in a state of mortal sin. It’s the sin of sacrilege to receive communion in a state of mortal sin or if you don’t believe that the bread is truly the body, blood, soul and divinity of our Lord. If you recall, anyone who was not free from sin would perish when they came near the Ark of the Covenant because it held God. The Eucharist (bread) truly becomes the Body, Blood, Soul & Divinity of Jesus Christ so even we as Catholics (Universal) Christians have to really do a thorough examination of conscience and go to confession and be in a state of grace in order to receive communion (Jesus Christ). The Eucharist and the sacrament of reconciliation (confession) was my main motivations for coming into the church…to know that Jesus Christ is within me and to hear that I was truly absolved from my sins in confession. Knowing that he is truly within me helping to strengthen me and grow in Holiness and to help me fight temptations. It was such a beautiful experience and I’m happy that you both are open minded and share parts of the faith with others on your channel.
She's a little cutie. I appreciate her taking the time to step out of her comfort zone and share her thoughts about attending a Roman Catholic Mass. You two will make a great team.
Eliza! It's so awesome you were open to experience the beauty of a catholic mass. As a catholic I would actually like to go to a protestant service and see what it's like:)
Just don’t get taken in by the lovely music and long sermons and friendliness. Some Protestant churches have “feel good” form of services verses the mass which is more solemn and structured. What is missing in the Protestant churches is the Eucharist, the summit of our faith.
I think your sweet fiance would make a lovely catholic She is a very humble young lady.also she would love our liturgies and as she learns she can help others who are misinformed about the Catholic faith.there are so many myths they think is our true faith and it is very erroneous. Then they learn truth and they are so happy and surprised. GOD BLESS YOU BOTH .
Love your videos. I am a cradle Catholic, although I only had one Catholic grandparent and he died before I was born. So, I was actually exposed to good, faithful Christian Protestants. The short of it is I left the Church for over 40 years. I went from Catholic, to Lutheran, to non denominational Pentecostal to Presbetyrian to Methodist (home church of my dad for 7 generations) then when mom was in her final months, she prayed the rosary in the midst of her suffering over and over. When she received last rights I got chill bumps. Then after she passed a dear friend and distant cousin asked me to take her to Mass after her surgery. And here I am five years later so very happy to be home again!
I saw your tour of this church and I watched your video of your attendance at a Latin Mass. I am glad you went to a "new" Mass. As a Catholic, I was in awe of this church. It is gorgeous. A lot of the responses and prayers were changed about 10 years ago and I still find myself stumbling over the new forms.
I have no idea how I ended up here. I'm french Roman Catholic. I just wanted to say to Eliza, you seem like a really sweet person and I wish you two all the best in your lives together. I couldn't stop laughing at the thought of someone having the courage to stand up and yell you go God! In one of our churches. We're a little too traditional for such happy exuberance. I can see all the raised eyebrows and disapproving looks! Keep spreading happiness. I always thought it would be fun to try a church with all the singing and dancing.
You two are so good together, and I am happy for you! It's definitely a good idea to experience services on your own and I hope you continue to do well on your journey of exploring the Church!
In reverse, as a Catholic I went to Protestant churches for a few weeks to experience and yes felt it is very energetic, like a concert, afterwards felt like buzzing, in a strange way. I went to another, and yes educational, lots of talking, kind of like a seminar. The preaching I feel is definitely more direct. I feel like Protestant service tells me ‘what’ to think. Whereas Catholic mass I feel teaches me ‘how’ to think/be through experiencing the presence of God through being present. I do believe however, God has its uses for both. I’ve witnessed many cases where a non-believer first became Protestant than became Catholic. Protestant feels more community-support based, Catholic feels more independent.
Jesus Christ is so ❤️, no words. I am Catholic and grateful everyday. It is where the full grace subsist. I always hope that the full magnitude and reverence and awe of going to mass is present to all those who go to worship and give thanks. Surrender all once you are there in front of your creator. ❤️ Tons of love and the Holy Spirit be with you. 🇵🇭
We cradle Catholics often do not appreciate, or take for granted, the richness of our faith. Hearing these 2 thoughtful young people talk about it is refreshing.
I very rarely watch videos when they premiere. I couldn’t wait to see this video and was sure to watch as soon as it came on. You did a fabulous job Eliza! I am Catholic but its amazing to see the Catholic Church though new eyes! And the church you are attending must be doing a lot right to have members like you.
Excellent video. God bless you both. I am a Roman Catholic Christian. It’s been a long time since I visited St. John Cantius. I go to St.john Bosco in Chicago. To get a nice glimpse of the Catholic Mass, read Scott Hahn’s book The lamb’s supper.
I enjoyed watching this, thanks for making it! I entered the Catholic Church in 2014. The Protestant church I was a member of at the time was a relatively new congregation that incorporated a blend of Lutheran, Presbyterian and Anglican and Baptist traditions. I found the new mass/ ordinary form to be very similar and the transition was fairly easy in respect to the liturgy. For the past two years I’ve been mostly attending the extraordinary form which I have learned to appreciate and find to aid my prayer life in a whole new way. I would love to know what your fiancée thinks of experiencing the extraordinary form. God bless you both.
My reactions were very similar going to my first mass many years ago. I grew up in a Missouri Synod Lutheran Church, so the liturgical format was a little familiar which helped. I recently did an interview with The Journey Home about my conversion story... you remind me of myself. Keep your open heart, He is longing to fill it. ❤️
@@GospelSimplicity it really is fantastic and such a great resource! While it wasn’t a part of my conversion experience, I recommend their ministry The Coming Home Network.
EXTRAORDINARY RITE OF MASS IS SO REVERENT... God deserves the best from us, congratulations on your engagement... Hope you continue knowing about Catholic Roots of our Faith on Latin Mass
I never commented after the video. 😬 Hi, Eliza I am so happy for your openness. No matter what direction you go in this, showing an interest in something your future spouse likes is a great relationship move. I hope you both find the truth you are looking for. You have a standing invitation if you ever want to ask another woman. I am glad you enjoyed it for the most part. I appreciate how nervous you must have been to do this. Thanks for stepping out of your comfort zone and saying yes to share with us. I wish you peace on your journey. Praying for you both.
This video was so sweet! I’ve just discovered Austin and have watched about 10 of his videos in the last couple days! Such a beautiful humble soul. And seeing him interact with his lovely fiancée here and guide her through this while being excited to have a new shared experience with her… just put a big ol’ smile on my face!

Bro, I'm Catholic and I love your videos. It's very refreshing to see a Protestant who don't have this burning hate towards the Catholic Church. I know there are many Protestants like you, too, but you're really sincere and open to knowing about the Catholic Church. God bless you, bro.
Catholic here. Went to college near Branson, MO. An area where being Catholic is challenged. But as St. Fulton Sheen said, there are not ten Protestants in America who hate the Catholic Church. They hate what they have learned the Catholic Church is. Most of which is to say the least, inaccurate.
@David Koresh some ministers, yes. But most pew sitting Protestants and Scripture only Evangelicals are ignorant of both European and Church history before 1517.
I am a cradle Catholic but I learned a lot more about my faith and Church history through the answers by Dr. David Anders in his YT channel and Dr. Scott Hahn where non Catholics and Catholics are welcome to ask questions live everyday M-F ET. I appreciate Eliza being open minded and if she desires to learn more she can enroll in RCIA. Watching from Philippines and ex OFW.
Protestant services vary considerably from one denomination to another in terms of the degree of simplicity of the service, the role of lay readers, the role of music and how the Ministers are dressed.
Thank you Eliza, for participating! You were great! And just a little back story, I am part of a non-denominational, bible teaching church, but, grew up in high Episcopalian, and catholic exposure, so, quite a difference and vast experience.
So beautiful for you both to share so openly!! I grew up Catholic and Presbyterian but am now solidly Catholic. I love bringing my non-Catholic friends to Mass. Atheists, Agnostics, Muslims, Buddhists and Protestants. All are welcome and there is so much history to explore. I love hearing from Protestant friends that have incredible knowledge of the bible and are able to pin point how the liturgy is so biblical. This is something average Catholics don’t know.
As a Catholic the Divine Liturgy is really beautiful, I'm happy to see the Liturgy not change throughout the centuries, unlike the new Liturgy the Catholic Church has (the Novus Ordo)
Anyone Catholic or not would consider relics as being "Wierd" but that would only apply to the people who ARE NOT familiar with WHO the saint was in life . Because once you read and get to know the life a Saint, you learn to love and admire him / her and after learning about who they were you take on a different perspective when you see a relic. , and it doesn't matter what the relic is , a finger , a tongue , a skull . You are in complete awe of it ! And you think to yourself , " Wow ! Is this really a part of this saint ! You find yourself wanting to see and learn more and more about who these people really were ! It's truly an awesome experience ! 👍👍👍💜
@@jaqian You call that "weird?" How about that bearded son of a carpenter telling people to eat his flesh and drink his blood for everlasting life? If that ain't "weird," I don't know what else is!
Austin, great video! On being excluded from Communion I’m sure you’ve gotten great answers but maybe I can pile on with a couple points. 1) the pain you feel being excluded from the Eucharist is felt much more acutely by Jesus than by you or anyone else. He desperately wants you to be united fully with Him. Also, your pain can be offered up to Him, just like fasting can be, for the purification of His Church and the salvation of souls. 2) The Eucharist is the Body and Blood of Christ. It’s a Sacrament (the quintessential Sacrament) meaning it “effects what it signifies”. So in receiving the Eucharist we are united fully with His Body, the Church. If we don’t fully accept the teachings of His Church our union with her is false, so we end up deceiving ourselves and heaping coals upon our heads. I hope that was somewhat comforting! God bless you!
Thank you, Eliza. You are so sweet and I can see that you and your fiance are meant for one another. God's blessings on both of you, wherever life brings you.
I somehow stumbled upon your channel and I am so inspired by your knowledge, Austin! Also congrats on your's and Eliza's engagement!! I also recently got engaged; my fiance' was raised Catholic, but after moving to the US from South America (~ in 2001), he got connected with a pentecostal church. We have had many rich discussions on the faith, and he has come back to Sunday Mass regularly, still is very connected to the pentecostal church, but learning again the rich history of the faith. God speed to you in your's and Eliza's quest for the true & the beautiful!!

I have claimed to be Catholic my entire life (30yrs) and not until 3 or 4 months ago, I have dove deep into understanding my faith and have been blown away with the lineage of the Catholic church. It is truly an amazing religion to be apart of.
I am a proud Catholic ✝️🛐💪
God bless to all my brothers and sisters

Agree. Born and raised Catholic. I went to Catholic grammar and high school. Only now at age 63 am I learning what it's all about, and I LOVE it!!
Thank you two for this. God Bless and nurture both of you!
Same here. I am 55 n trying to dive into Catholicism and other Christian Brothers and sisters to know how deeper and beautiful our faith is living and worshiping God
it"s the only church founded by the LORD JESUS CHRIST,proud to be catholic
Jesus didn't leave his flesh in a wafer to be stuffed in a tabernacle to be worshiped that way! STOP it.
Having left the Catholic Church and attending Pentecostal and southern baptist services I caught myself going for the show and performances rather than the word of God. I came home to the Catholic Church a couple years ago!!! It feels great!!!
Welcome home !
welcome home brother. I went to another church as well, even tried Islam for a while. Now come home to catholic church. Truth really sets me free.
If you would like to know how we are saved and about how some Catholic Church doctrines contradict the Bible, here you go:

Thank you for sharing, but you’re incorrect as is your reference.
One more step, and attend TLM!
WOW a beautiful life for you.

@Eucharist Angel I assume you’re referring to 2 Corinthians 10:5?
@@shadowlands8490 cant find any roman emperor statue in the church tho..
Thanks for sharing your story!

- "If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains”
"Outside the Church there is no salvation"
How are we to understand this affirmation, often repeated by the Church Fathers? Re-formulated positively, it means that all salvation comes from Christ the Head through the Church which is his Body:
This affirmation is not aimed at those who, through no fault of their own, do not know Christ and his Church: (CCC 847)
Those who, through no fault of their own, do not know the Gospel of Christ or his Church, but who nevertheless seek God with a sincere heart, and, moved by grace, try in their actions to do his will as they know it through the dictates of their conscience - those too may achieve eternal salvation.
Invincible ignorance, however, is not the only condition for salvation apart from the sacrament of baptism. The Church also teaches that such individuals must “seek God with a sincere heart, and, moved by grace, try in their actions to do his will as they know it through the dictates of their conscience” (CCC 847).

OK?

@@SharonCullenArt Well Catholics need to take em back.

I find it weird as an Anglican that so many Protestants are so unfamiliar with Catholicism or the mass. It's like having an aunt or uncle you've NEVER met or visited, even once... I'm glad they did this and I hope others do the same. We are all one big family.
Well put!
Good point
Understand the Catholic Mass is not a service. It's a Mass. It's the literal response to Jesus's request that we "do this in memory" of Him. In Memory-does not mean what protestants think it means. It doesn't mean to just remember. Protestant services seem to me to be more about the pastor than Jesus.
Yes! I was trying to find a way to explain this to my protestant boyfriend. We don’t call mass a “service” 😂 we’re literally worshipping
@oliviawhittaker2334 it's a mystery why some people get it and some don't
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Eliza. It’s so refreshing to see young, open minded Protestants thinking sincerely for themselves.
Glad you enjoyed it!

I can tell how much y’all love each other. That was my favorite part of the video.
Thanks!
You also need to find an independent traditional Catholic parish who practices the faith > luxvera org
Take your time, learn the faith and do some research along with prayer(rosary). It is worth it! Hope you'll find the truth. God bless you!
Eliza is very sweet. Nice to hear her thoughts!
She is! Glad you enjoyed it!
Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof but only say the word and my soul shall be healed…. May many souls know His healing through your channel Austin… blessings to you both. Paul
Amen
The priest faces Ad Orientem because he too is an adorer.
Thanks, Eliza for sharing!
Thanks!
And he is leading the sheep to Our Lord Jesus, the Christ.
Rev. Peter Leithart, whom I have often described as a "high-church Presbyterian," says that the pastor should face "East" because he is leading the people of God in the battle against the powers of darkness (or words to that effect): the general does not lead the army facing them and with his back to the enemy.
Yes, the sacrifice is being offered to God, not to the other offerors of the sacrifice (the people).
Dear brothers and sisters, when referring to catholic church Mass, it is always written with a capital "M" Mass, not mass. Thank you.
So true. Even me I am very particular with the letters wether small or in capital.
Thanks!
She is adorable!! Treat each other right. Stay faithful. You are blessed to have found one another. Do not let anybody or anything come between you. Blessings on your upcoming marriage.
Thanks!
I'm really excited about this! Hello to both of you and Blessings.
This is true, best wishes from Poland. I'm tradicional catolic in FSSPX
Mass doesn’t have the seriousness of the elements below:
In Traditional Catholicism, at Mass, it appeals to the sense of beauty, tradition, heavenly music with Gregorian Chant, with an inward sense of importance.
God bless+
Wow- I'm Catholic and I just learned a few things from you. Thank you! Congratulations on RCIA. So glad you commented for a convert perspective.
As a Catholic I really enjoy your TH-cam post and I look forward to seeing more with both of you.
Thanks! I'm so glad to hear that
@@GospelSimplicity I once heard a Catholic member of the clergy jokingly describe all of the repetitive standing, kneeling and sitting during a Catholic mass as "Catholic aerobics".
Thank you Eliza for being on camera yet again! It really is a pleasure to see you two together, you guys clearly work well together, and I'm happy for you both. Thanks Austin for your efforts to always put out content- it truly lifts me up when I see you're still making great videos. God bless you both!
Thanks for the kind words! Glad you're enjoying the videos
St John Cantius is an absolutely beautiful church
Indeed!
1 John 2:16
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
the catholic gospel is simply false and should never be promoted for any reason whatsoever, Catholics need big churches so the simple minded will follow their false teachings.

@David Koresh Peace be with you, we agree to disagree. Austin never insults Catholics, he had Trent Horn and Matt Fradd on his show.... If you have so much hate, maybe not follow his channel. I'm done. I dont have to justify how "Catholic" I am to you or anyone else for that matter. Good day.
Yes just like Catholics wouldn't even dream of considering a different religion.
I always enjoy new perspectives. Thank you Eliza for being a good sport and sharing your thoughts with us!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Eliza did amazing on this video! I get so daunted staring into a cold, unmoving camera. It's not easy! Love seeing both of you journey through this stuff, keep talking about it all. 😋
She really did!

If you're a Catholic and sincerely repentant and contrite then go to confession.
Dont worry, you can forgive yourself and ask for forgiveness to the people you have harm in the past and try to be the best you can be from now on. There is no skydaddy who is gonna fix us. We humans fix ourselves and can help fix others who need and want it.

IM SO EXCITED FOR THIS! Sorry I missed the premier, but can’t wait to watch once I’m home from work!
Hope you enjoy it!
You were really great Eliza! Good chat! Heart to heart 💞 She seems very gentle and kind
She is!
Goodness, truth and beauty is what draws me and retains my Catholic faith.
Eliza! It's so awesome you were open to experience the beauty of a catholic mass. As a catholic I would actually like to go to a protestant service and see what it's like:)
You should! It's a great way to learn and to grow in appreciation for the other "side"
Just don’t get taken in by the lovely music and long sermons and friendliness. Some Protestant churches have “feel good” form of services verses the mass which is more solemn and structured. What is missing in the Protestant churches is the Eucharist, the summit of our faith.
You guys are a lovely couple. May God bless you guys. Props to Eliza for doing this and sharing her thoughts on it!
Thanks!
I think your sweet fiance would make a lovely catholic
She is a very humble young lady.also she would love our liturgies and as she learns she can help others who are misinformed about the Catholic faith.there are so many myths they think is our true faith and it is very erroneous. Then they learn truth and they are so happy and surprised.
GOD BLESS YOU BOTH .
That's so kind!
Thank you to the both of you!
Really love seeing Eliza + hearing her thoughts on The Mass ❤
Our pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it!
excited for this!
Haha, it might be a bit of culture shock for sure. It’s an interesting experience though!
That is true, but I will never leave the Catholic church. My relationship with God is more important than socializing.
Seeing you and your fiancé in a video just makes me smile. Y’all are a beautiful couple.
Thanks!
I loved Eliza's reaction to her first mass! I enjoy watching your journey of discovering the traditions of the Ancient Church!
I’m glad to hear that!
We cradle Catholics often do not appreciate, or take for granted, the richness of our faith. Hearing these 2 thoughtful young people talk about it is refreshing.
Eliza was great! Love your program very much. *****

The lamb’s supper.
Whoa! I really enjoyed this video. Not only was it honest, but authenticity insightful
Oh wow! I've heard great things about that show
The Journey Home is excellent! We watched it for months before joining RCIA.
@@GospelSimplicity it really is fantastic and such a great resource! While it wasn’t a part of my conversion experience, I recommend their ministry The Coming Home Network.

@@jimreilly917 What an excelent observation.
@David Koresh some ministers, yes. But most pew sitting Protestants and Scripture only Evangelicals are ignorant of both European and Church history before 1517.
@David Koresh no...he's acting like he respects those who seek the TRUTH.
I think a Protestant Service could be compared to prayer meeting. Mass is a sacrifice, so it would be completely different, than a Protestant Service
The sacrificial aspect definitely does differentiate them a bit
Glad you enjoyed it!
I can’t wait to watch this one!!

Thanks Eliza! That was awesome. Now take her to a Divine Liturgy!
We're already in discussion about it!
As a Catholic the Divine Liturgy is really beautiful, I'm happy to see the Liturgy not change throughout the centuries, unlike the new Liturgy the Catholic Church has (the Novus Ordo)
I’m Catholic and I sometimes think the relics are weird too. You two are so great.
Thanks for sharing that!
Weird but cool.
Thanks!
