He means don't be on it all the time. A lot of people are.
He's saying how people (not all, just some) are so addicted to it that, it basically controls them and they use it more than they speak with people in hang outs. Yes, social media is to be blamed, but doesn't mean the answer is to completely get rid of it. People just have to balance their life, and regulate their usage; just like alcohol, it can please people but too much can harm people.

+wowerman this is false. I have family over in the Czech Republic and Slovakia and when compared to the UK, there is not much difference in terms of usage of mobile phones. Although mind you, those two are more in the "Central Europe" but still. This is rather a misconception.
Sure, someone who has no mobile phone due to poverty is going to have more "social face to face" contact, but that's like someone who has no access to personal/public transport has greater strength in their legs.

I used to go out a whole lot more too when I lived (11 years) in Slovakia, however, that was not due to lack of technology, that was because I was a child. However at the same time there were kids around that stayed at home.
You are generalizing the Western world when the same issue applies both ways. Technology know has had an impact, but we still go out, we still socialize and we are no different than before. Sure there are whole lot more health issues but if you are stupid enough parent to let your child rot away without exercise and proper dietary, its your own damn fault.
Technology is not the villain, bad parenting is.

Your issue with Technology seems to point to lack of Social skills due to technology right? Well never before we had the ability to communicate with the whole world.
Technology allowed youngsters to explore their true talents. Not everyone is strong physically, some are simply better mentally, some prefer to work in this field, some simply enjoy the entertainment provided in video games.
Sure there are cases of people being addicted , but there are also cases of parents and older generations not seeing technology for what it is. Not understanding it.

For those who have grown up with this technology, you probably dont feel anything. For me this video, more than any other, has affected me. It almost brings me to tears and Im not even that kind of person. There is a real world out there and people are letting it pass by. Sit and talk to your family, turn your phone off and listen to your kids, listen to your friends. Take part in your own life. I remember when I was a kid, you got on your bicycle and went looking for someone. Thinking about how much we have lost for every advancement of technology we have gained.
+uk1941 As an 80's kid, I see where he's going with the video, but at the same time, all this technology can be a great thing. Now with that said, the technology itself really isn't the problem. It's the people who are so addicted to their cellphones/facebook/etc, that they can't function properly without it in public that's the problem. Those are the people who need to put their phones down more often and actually experience life. Go hang out with your friends and make memories you'll be able to look back to when you get older, because all those pointless videos they watch all day are going to be forgotten within a few years at best and then what will you have? How about a bunch of gaps in your life you won't really remember? They may not realize it now, but once they get older, they're going to look back and ask themselves, "wow, what have I done with my life?". That's just sad to me, but hey, if you just want to waste your life away then go for it. It's your life, but don't say I didn't try to wake you up.
The sad thing is, in some towns like mine for an example. Crime rates have raised, kids can't just go round riding bikes anymore. My sisters boyfriend's brother and his friend went riding their bikes round the park. They got held at knife point and their phones and bikes were stolen. I took a walk and stopped in a corner shop to grab a drink, a guy came in with a gun and robbed the store while I was in there.. I often hear from my parents about how back as a kid they would run around the woods, play on their bikes and do other stuff. Then I look back st my childhood and most of it's been spent in fear of what's outside, when I dare to exit, I always seem to find myself in a bad situation. I just hope we can fix all of this before the next generation come around, the last thing I want is my future kids having to grow up in areas like mine. q.q

I love and value the meaning behind this video. I am deeply disappointed, in the notion, that one would believe device connections and lack of human interaction would cause "ADD to be on the rise". Like many neurodiverant humans, we are born this way. ADD in this fact, is no different than Autism and Tourettes. Connection to devices or eating the wrong food, does not make one have a neurological uniqueness, this is simply who they are. In an era where mental health awareness is a movement of empowerment for people to be understood and others to be tolerant, this is beyond regressive. Please recreate this amazing and powerful video that speaks to so much needed education and remove the unfactual dialogue that ADD is something created. Thank you for the work you do. 🙏
