- Since everyone keeps asking how we met, I'll copy/paste here what I told my friend:
"It wasn't by chance - see, I was visiting my cousin in San Francisco a few days ago, and she's got connections with EVERYONE. She had a mutual friend with Mr. Drummond, and the two of them arranged to go for pizza with me.
Ryan's a way past cool guy, and super nice, and he very much cares about his fans. The reason he's not as accessible as Jason and Roger is because Ryan's a real family guy, and while acting is how he makes a living, he doesn't want to see his name in lights, so to speak."

Ryan was the most natural sounding to me. It didn't sound like he was acting, he almost became Sonic.
To be honest, I think Jason Griffith sounds better as Sonic. But I might just be a bit biased since Unleashed was the first Sonic game I ever played

Samuel Xavier yeah, I've always felt like Ryan gave Sonic the right amount of attitude, while Jason did best with emotions. Ryan just had the misfortune of having badly animated games (at least by today's standards).

Bruh, just his personality. There is no script for him. Just the sonic he remembers from over a decade ago. That's why I love this guy. He knows the character so well and it gives me so much nostalgia. His sonic just brings you a happy smiling fruit salad :-)

I admit that I didn't grow up with him as the voice of sonic neither do I have a favourite actor in particular but I was smiling and giggling during this whole video. He just fits the description of sonic in every way and it's even evident that he has fun voicing the character.
It's really sad and uncalled for the way Sega treated him when he got fired without warning just to later ask him to quit his union for a laughable payment.
I can see that this wasn’t a very good idea, but PLEASE, we REALLY want Ryan to come back! I really miss his voice acting ever since Sonic Heroes.

BioZero216 yeah, it seems the morons are the ones who get noticed, unfortunately. Hell I didn't even care about the redesigns he got over the years. I personally prefer the Adventure DX design, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna have a seizure over that design changing to modern Sonic. Or the Blue arms for Boom. The way I see it, Sonic has fur, most animals when they shed their fur to grow a new fur coat, then get new fur patterns/ COLORS. SO I just saw it as Sonic with a new "fur coat" so to speak.

Carter Heuwagen They probably couldn't get Jaleel. I don't know if it was a cost-cutting measure, or if he just turned down the job, but, a developer of Sonic Generations said in an interview, "It was either get Jaleel White to voice classic Sonic, or no voice at all!"

I always wanted to see Ryan actually do the Sonic voice, he made the character sound so natural. It sucks that the games he was in had the voice clips poorly mixed and poorly placed in the game, because people often blame the voice actors for making it sound weird when really the clip placement is the issue. He just nailed Sonic's personality though. Energetic, and attitude, without making it too over the top.

My thoughts exactly. The audio in SA2 was mixed terribly and made for a lot of awkward moments in the cutscenes. If you listen to his Sonic voice clips without the other audio, you can really hear how good he sounds as Sonic.

Jennifer Douillard was amazing as Amy, and Scott Dreier was strong enough as Knuckles. I just feel bad for them because they voiced them since 1998-2004 and I really wanted them to keep running the business for SEGA. The voice actors for the Mario series on the contrary, ran the Nintendo business for SOOOOO many years ever since 1996 and they NEVER succeeded to change. I just can’t stop wondering why SEGA keeps changing the voice actors of the Sonic series. Oh. And just to point out to you, Scott wasn’t the voice actor for Knuckles in Sonic Adventure. That was Michael McGarahan. Going back to the Mario series, Donkey Kong was not the portrayal of Takashi Nagasako until Mario Power Tennis, and Jen Taylor was the voice actress for Peach & Toad until Super Mario Strikers, where she passed her audition over to Nicole Mills briefly, then got replaced by Samantha Kelly.
Dang, I really wish he came back to play Sonic. He's honestly the only voice actor who nailed the character perfectly.
Ryan is the only Sonic VA to fully engross themselves in the character, I don't see a man voicing a teenage blue hedgehog, I see a teenage blue hedgehog

I gotta say, it feels very nostalgic hearing the original English voice for Sonic (well, in the games anyway) for the first time in over a decade, and needless to say, he sounds just as he great as he did in his last performance in Sonic Heroes. And you can tell in this video that he genuinely enjoyed voicing his character, and wasn't just in it for the money. Even though I like Jason and Roger just as much, it's great hearing Ryan Drummond playing his former role at least one more time, and should they ever bring back to voice Sonic again in the games (which I highly doubt), I'd be totally for it.

Ryan is the orange because he has that citric spice in his voice.
Jason is the banana because he has a softer more wholesome voice.
Roger is the apple because he has a crunchy sweet voice.
When these actors are used well they make a fruit salad, but when they are used wrong you get...ahhh, never mind. We love you Ryan!

Ryan!! I'll admit I've never had the chance to play a Sonic game in which he voices Sonic, but I'll say, just with that preview of voice, I understand why most fans consider him the best Sonic voice. It's witty, snappy, the tiniest bit self glorifying but in a jokey way. But still warmhearted and friendly. He also just looks like a lovely guy too, his opinions on Jason and Roger weren't mean-spirited at all. What a guy.

What's great about Ryan Drummond is that he looks like Sonic. Not literally, but he looks like that kind of cool guy with the weird and radical voice who loves the thrill of adventure and doesn't care about anything except when serious trouble's afoot...The other guys don't have that look that just matches who they're protraying.
Of course that doesn't matter considering that they're all just voice actors portraying a character created using a computer, but I think it's pretty cool that Drummond seems like Sonic.

I'm glad to see Drummond again. I would REALLY love to see Ryan, Jason, and Roger ( and maybe Jaleel white) together in a q&a sonic's voice panel in the sonic boom event or summer of sonic. I also love to see these actors holding their fruits. Sega, PLEASE make it happen!

Ryan Drummond is an apple, Roger Craig Smith is a banana and Jason Griffith is a tangerine. Apples are my favorite, bananas are good and I don't pay attention to tangerines.
Ryan Drummond was the best portrayal of Sonic in my opinion, he captured his personality perfectly, he was Sonic. I know its a low possibility, but if Sega brought back the old voice cast from the Adventure series that would make me feel like a kid again.

My fantastic childhood is back and Ryan Drummond has still got his legendary Sonic's voice that I still appreciate in his real cool and positive cocky personality! This video makes me sad because Ryan can still do his Sonic voice but SEGA insist of consistently using Roger Craig Smith. It's annoying because now they're paying more attention than ever to the voice acting but they still use a Pizza Hut commercial to voice Sonic.

This guy is Sonic. The new guys are Sanic, you know, the ones with mostly bad games, and a porno based fan base.
He was the best voice actor. I do love the others as voice actors, but drummond just kills it as sonic. Then again, Griffith slays at Shadow and Rodger Craig Smith does great on other shows/video games.
