"So, the boss of the outside of the Sail Barge, I take it we'll be using the super-popular Boba Fett, who was actually in that scene?" "I was thinking this OC monster that's a cross between Donkey Kong and Cthulhu that jumps back and forth, growls a lot, and has just the one highly telegraphed attack." "BRILLIANT!!!" (EDIT: Okay, I now know it was based on early Rancor concept art.)
A highly telegraphed attack that happens to be a blunt force blow that you can block WITH A FREAKING SWORD BUILT FOR FINESSE! That's my favorite part if you couldn't tell.
Leia in her first two forms is hands down the best character in this game. Her charged attack deals an amount of damage second only to a thermal detonator! Unfortunately, her third form is just Han without grenades...
How did I miss out on Diablo 1? On Xenogears? On FF7 PS1 original version? Same reason... very few of us got to play all the classics when we were young, either because of time constraints or other reasons...
Man, I beat this game when I was a kid somehow and I never knew that Leia had that special attack.. I absoluely loved this game trilogy though. The liberties they took with the characters and all the random ass creatures and enemies that you never saw in the movies, along with the cool backdrops and the iconic Star Wars music made these games fun to just look at and experience. It's a shame that the difficulty of the infinitely spawning enemies made them more frustrating than fun. If they had toned down the enemy spam and ridiculous HP on some of the enemies, they would probably be among my favorite classic games.
Ya, she can charge attack with her spear and whip. Although later when she has a blaster pistol, she can't. Don't feel bad, I didn't realize she had a charge attack like she does until recently watching a speed run.
I was a little bummed out that Boba Fett wasn't the boss in the 1st sail barge level (yes, I am aware that Boba Fett is a boss in the last Chewbacca level in Super Empire Strikes Back), but he was a mini boss in the (only) sail barge level in the Game Boy version right before you face Jabba the Hutt. I found it impossible to defeat the Rancor as Luke, so I had to use Han or Chewie, despite the fact that neither fought the Rancor in the movie. It's also a bit of a bummer that the Sarlacc Pit wasn't a boss in this game either (I know it was in Super Star Wars) & could've been an additional Tatooine level after Jabba the Hutt. In some levels, I use the B, A, X, Y, Down, Start code to bring up the menu where I can change the music which I do for some boss battles... -Jabba's Palace for the Rancor -Sail Barge for Jabba the Hutt -Darth Vader's (also title screen) theme for Darth Vader -Emperor Palpatine's theme for Emperor Palpatine I also change the music for certain levels overall as I felt it fits better. In recent years, I thought "How cool would it be if there were games based on both the prequel and sequel trilogies that were just like the ones we actually got for the middle (original) trilogy?" Like Super Phantom Menace, Super Attack of the Clones, Super Revenge of the Sith, Super The Force Awakens, Super The Last Jedi & Super The Rise of Skywalker all in 16-bit Super Nintendo style.
The boss theme is awesome! And I don't remember the gatekeeper droid being a giant wrecking ball that shoots lightning but that would have been awesome in the movie!
I ran into a glitch in this game. At the 6:16 mark I was rolling in, expecting to fight the forest beast, and the level abruptly ended. I got my points and didn't have to fight the thing. It only happened once, though.
That, and Darth Vader's exploding armor, the Emperor flying around, the Rancor breathing out fire, Jabba spitting out toads, and Leia doing more damage with a simple chain than Han or Luke. Pretty hardcore, actually.
Oh they just edited out all those scenes for the final film. If you bought the extended version director's cut, he's definitely teleporting around shooting lasers out of his ass.
6:50 and 8:24 Are those suppose to be the Dark Troopers that were brought in The Mandalorian Season 2? I thought I heard people mention that they’re first seen in Star Wars Dark Forces game?
Because Vader had lost his power by the Return of the Jedi & Sidious basically taunted Vader saying "your work here is finished, you're redundant". That would have played on Vader's confidence. That's the reason why Vader was so easy on this game. Luke became more powerful than his father Darth Vader in the Boss battle. "Most Impressive"!
I'm not sure which is funnier: 1. The glorified sentient doorbell being upgraded to a boss (and is also massive). 2. Bib Fortuna being upgraded to a fucking wizard, complete with teleport spam. 3. Boba Fett getting completely shafted by not getting to be a boss, implying that even when everyone else was upgraded to be badass he STILL got vore'd like a punk. 4. Jabba The Hutt also being able to personally kick ass, and also basically weaponized his lunch. 5. Leia ain't got time for that strangling shit, she's literally just going to beat the shit out of people with a chain. 6. Vader's wrist-twirling "swiggity swooty I'm coming for that booty" excuse for an attack animation. 7. Vader's jump animation. All two frames of it. 8. PALPATINE DABS.
Were those flying mechs Darktroopers from the Emperor's Dark Trooper project from around the time period of just before A New Hope? He had a lot of experimental technology
He was. I remember there was a code that allowed you to use any character for any level. Luke, Han, Chewie, Wicket and any of the three Leia outfits. Wicket could beat the emperor so easily it was hilarious.

I know the reasons though those are just a few valid questions I’ve always had on the game to this day. Still a top 5 SNES game regardless

There is a character select in the game which gives you the option to play as Luke, Han or Chewie in the Rancor Pit stage. I usually played as Chewie in the stage with the giant frog. Also, Boba Fett should have been the boss of the outer Sail Barge level instead of Donkey Kong made of Cthulhu.

Lol I used Chewie to beat boss 2. His spin move then constantly jumping and shooting
not only did you get lucky on boss 4 with how long he stood around but also how you can be that close to bosses and not get hurt.
... Wait all those guys have names?
"So, the boss of the outside of the Sail Barge, I take it we'll be using the super-popular Boba Fett, who was actually in that scene?"
"I was thinking this OC monster that's a cross between Donkey Kong and Cthulhu that jumps back and forth, growls a lot, and has just the one highly telegraphed attack."

@D Bammstein Huh, neat.
And also teabags
A highly telegraphed attack that happens to be a blunt force blow that you can block WITH A FREAKING SWORD BUILT FOR FINESSE!
That's my favorite part if you couldn't tell.
The monster is based after Rancor concept art.
He's called a Taloosian, I think. They're popular hired muscle in the galaxy. Also, Boba WAS a boss in Super Empire Strikes Back.
Luke: Kills the Emperor
Also Luke: *shrugs*
Remember when Bib Fortuna could teleport and shoot lasers from his lekku.
tom perzelan or when Jabba spit out monsters
seriously? what about when han fought a fire breathing rancor?
What about when bib fortuna became fat?
Or that Jabba has a hive of hutt larva within him.
remember when palpatine could fly
Leia in her first two forms is hands down the best character in this game. Her charged attack deals an amount of damage second only to a thermal detonator! Unfortunately, her third form is just Han without grenades...

Cue Vampire Killer
Holy crap, I missed out on this as a kid. A Star Wars game looking like a Contra and Ninja Gaiden hybrid? HOW'D I MISS THIS!?
How did I miss out on Diablo 1? On Xenogears? On FF7 PS1 original version? Same reason... very few of us got to play all the classics when we were young, either because of time constraints or other reasons...
I played the first 2 in middle school but didn't find out they made a Return of the Jedi one until my junior year of high school.
I had no idea slave Leia could shoot lasers.
Ya, she can charge attack with her spear and whip. Although later when she has a blaster pistol, she can't. Don't feel bad, I didn't realize she had a charge attack like she does until recently watching a speed run.
Me either!
These Games had such bad ass final Boss rounds lol
-Jabba's Palace for the Rancor
-Sail Barge for Jabba the Hutt
-Darth Vader's (also title screen) theme for Darth Vader
-Emperor Palpatine's theme for Emperor Palpatine
I also change the music for certain levels overall as I felt it fits better.
In recent years, I thought "How cool would it be if there were games based on both the prequel and sequel trilogies that were just like the ones we actually got for the middle (original) trilogy?"
Like Super Phantom Menace, Super Attack of the Clones, Super Revenge of the Sith, Super The Force Awakens, Super The Last Jedi & Super The Rise of Skywalker all in 16-bit Super Nintendo style.
The boss theme is awesome! And I don't remember the gatekeeper droid being a giant wrecking ball that shoots lightning but that would have been awesome in the movie!
I wish Darth Vader was playable for the Emperor Palpatine boss fight.
I ran into a glitch in this game. At the 6:16 mark I was rolling in, expecting to fight the forest beast, and the level abruptly ended. I got my points and didn't have to fight the thing. It only happened once, though.
It happens sometimes
Funny, I don't recall Bib Fortuna teleporting and shooting blasters from his head-tails.... must be in the expanded universe!
That, and Darth Vader's exploding armor, the Emperor flying around, the Rancor breathing out fire, Jabba spitting out toads, and Leia doing more damage with a simple chain than Han or Luke.
Pretty hardcore, actually.
Pretty much considering at the time this game came out the prequel trilogy wasn't even a thing
Nat P I think it was Bizarro alternate earth B’s 4th timeline.
Disney would destroy this game
Oh they just edited out all those scenes for the final film. If you bought the extended version director's cut, he's definitely teleporting around shooting lasers out of his ass.
6:50 and 8:24 Are those suppose to be the Dark Troopers that were brought in The Mandalorian Season 2? I thought I heard people mention that they’re first seen in Star Wars Dark Forces game?
11:30 amidst this mess sheev finds time to dab on luke... damn
Yeah awesome man! Think you can do the N64 one, Shadows of the Empire soon? That one was bonkers tough too.
I agree, Shadows of the Empire would be great.
These bosses look so much easier in comparison to the first one, jeez.
Speaking from experience... it's not the bosses that throw you for a loop, it's the stupid flying sequences. The last one is garbage.
That's true.
easiest game ever
Dang, I just realized how most bosses can be beaten easily with just patience. I lacked a lot of that as a kid.
lol that shrug Luke does after every boss.
he's like "that's it?...i dunno"
0:54 is that Link's sword swinging SFX?
Vader was so ball busting in Empire, but here he goes down like nothing.

8. Giant Forest Beast
9. Flying Attack Ship
10. Imperial Defense System
11. Zero-G Assault Storm Troopers
12. Darth Vader
13. Emperor Palpatine
Hey, remember when Han walked right into the Rancor's lair and capped him in the face?
Why isn't there a boba Fett boss fight in the game?
Yeah Boba Fett should have been appeared as a level boss in the game
6:45-7:47
“I’ll willingly surrender myself to Vader, but you guys are still going to have to work for it!”
Palpatine really opened up the fight by dabbing on Luke lmao
The old Yub Nub song before they changed it in the Special Editions...
Loved that they had the Ewok song at the end!
I'm not sure which is funnier:
1:45 ohhh snap I forgot oggdo bogdo was in this game
Were those flying mechs Darktroopers from the Emperor's Dark Trooper project from around the time period of just before A New Hope? He had a lot of experimental technology
Emperor Palpatine from this game reminds me of the evil grand Master from strider.
He reminds me of Death from Castlevania
How are you doing the long range attack as a push Leia?
God the Ewok was so OP compared to everyone else
He was. I remember there was a code that allowed you to use any character for any level. Luke, Han, Chewie, Wicket and any of the three Leia outfits. Wicket could beat the emperor so easily it was hilarious.

cool video.
i kinda did liked the graphics of this classic snes game back then
It's not fair to use Leia, she's too cheap!
Real men beat the game as Luke
0:57 here after the mando season 2 finale
Admit it you would pick han to beat this boss 2:06
I did.
In the movie, Luke had to face the Rancor, but in this game...
I felt it was impossible to do a lot of damage.
I tried to stick to the movie's storyline, but I made an exception in the case.
I still find it off-putting about just re-using Vader's exact attack pattern from the last game here. He's one-handing his saber and jumping like a dope just to *scare* Luke during their fight in Empire, it's not how he actually fights. It makes him look like a total joke when this game's Luke is so far ahead of him in strength. It took Luke's near-fall to the Dark Side to finally bring him down in the movie, so the least they could've done is changed Vader's sprites *a little* bit.
Seeing this Luke Skywalker going all out like a real madman with that lightsaber makes the Sith look like noobs even Mace Windus spirit wont show up wow!

Ngl, I thought the bosses in this game were terrifying and they stressed me the hell out. They gave were the were supposed to give. Fear.
