Bought this kit for the kick honestly. Replaced the snom with the stage custom 13x14 floor tom. And I use a different snare but kept it as a side snare and I don't use a high ton. I get more compliments about that kick and my clap stack more than anything else! Great review

Thanks for the video. Great content and helpful. Just bought that 18” extra thin and cannot wait to try her out.

Some of them are worth the hype. The ride is good but very dark; almost to dark. The trash crash and byzance crash cymbals are my favorite. I wasn’t feeling that china, LOL. But I’m sure someone will love it. Thanks for the demo!

I love the Byzance lines. I’ve invested in many of the Dual cymbals and currently have the 16 and 18 crashes, the 20 and 22 c/r’s, 10 splash, 15 hats, 18 trash crash and 18 trash China. I also have a smattering of the other Byzance lines. I started with Zildjians back in the 70’s, switched to Sabian in the 2000’s, and now exclusively Meinl. They are unique, very well made, and a great option for folks who just want something different. You’re gonna need a fat wallet, tho. They can be pricey.

I’m with you for Meinl. Incredible instruments.

Meinls all I play , it depends solely on your ear and what you want. If you want that vintage sound that all the legends used go to Zildjian, if you want a louder pop sound go to Sabian, if you want just pure sonics Paiste is your brand. If you want a variety of voices that stand out and give life to your sound like I do then Meinl is the brand for you.

Meinl spent a lot on PR and now they are reaping the benefits.

I got a great deal on the 14" EDM hi-hats and absolutely love them. Maybe even more than my Sand Hats. it depends on the mood.

I never considered buying or even trying out a Meinl cymbal. After all, it is a German country and what do they know about Turkish cymbals.
Then I walked into the local drum shop and tried out a few that had been traded in. I now own them. They are the Byzance line which is hand-made and hand-hammered in Turkey.
So, I figure that Meinl is like the other famous name cymbals. You get what you pay for. The top of the line models are very good. After that, you have pick out your favorite "flavor of ice cream". The choice of cymbals is very subjective and you should definitely try them out in person before you buy them, no matter how good they sound on TH-cam.

I;d be curious to know how much that entire set you demo'd would cost. Great mix.

Drummers are really spoilt for choice now with cymbals, so many sounds and textures out there. I play mostly Istanbul Agop lately, and Dream, but gigs where I really need to cut I still use a Meinl 22 inch HCS ride - cheap, thick and does the job.

in my oppinion these were the weaker meinl cymbal. There are a lot of better series like f.e. the foundry reserved. just one of the best rides on the market.

What I'm about to say has seemed like the elephant in the room of the drum world since all this hype began. I'd lose hope in humanity if there were no one else thinking this: NO, they aren't worth the hype! ...based on these clips, every other time I've heard Meinls, and from the dozens that I've tested. They really go for dryness, quick decay, and one-dimensional musicality in all of their lines, whereas the "Big 3" dedicate one line a piece or even just a small handful of cymbals to displaying those qualities while having more versatility and overall quality across series... and do so much better. Meinl artists are known to me as having big drum sounds, placing secondary importance on cymbals in general, which is a drummer's sin as quality cymbals are far more important than quality drums (you can make shit drums sound decent, but crap cymbals can't be fixed). Zildjian for life, and I'd gladly play Paiste or Sabian if either offered me an endorsement. But Meinl? You couldn't pay me to. Might as well go Animal style and bang on garbage can lids, cause that's exactly what they sound like.

I get what you’re saying but it depends on one’s style.. Zildjian is my favorite but Meinl curated a lot of excellent products that are just as good if not better in some instances... They do a good job of catering to not only drummers but percussionist’s as a whole, and considering Zildjian’s Special K Dry line is my favorite next to A’s, I’m thrilled with some of Meinl’s offerings as they fit in perfectly. It’s really nice to have another company around that is paying close attention to modern drumming and providing well crafted alternatives. I’m not sponsered by any any means, I wish I were, and maybe someday… but right now if I had my pick it would easily be Meinl or Zildjian

might just be the biggest hump of shit ive read lol. getting angry at meinl for making dry cymbals is like getting mad at jazz drummers for using them

I mean the cymbals showcased in this video are not my thing but if you take like the foundry reserved series and other stuff Meinl is just king of the market. foundry reserved king of cymbals at the moment i think especially the ride.
