I've owned several Slingerland Radio King snare drums, as well as a complete Radio King set. I LOVE that sound, so I was thrilled to see Slingerland resurface with this attention to detail. I hope they have wild success, and look forward to complete sets that make that sound available for all the drum sizes. :)
I learned a long time ago that someone like me isn’t even allowed to buy a ticket to NAMM. If you want to go to NAMM, you must be one of the following: a manufacturer, a demonstrator, a content creator, or at least have an invitation by a friend who’s one of those. I’m not so lucky. So I’ve officially given up on any dreams, nay, any delusions I might’ve had of going to NAMM.
My Best Friend and I Walked off the Street Bought Our Ticket to Namm in Los Angeles and Had a Awesome time. If You really want to attend just Buy Your Ticket. I Promise You You will Enjoy the Show Tremendously.
Great to see Bosphorus love. Someday I'll get one. A drummer I played with many years ago had a set of em and they always sounded so nice. Love the white logos on the raw finishes too.
Matt: Great stuff! Only one correction, the Carlock drum is the thicker, not thinner shell drum. Carlock is 2mm Brass and the Borlai is 1.2mm thick. Also, I can understand that Zildjian may be taking a breather coming off their 400th Anniversary but what's up with Paiste? Still waiting on an expansion of the 602 Classic Series to include 13" Hats, Heavy RideS, Chinas...nothing.
Ludwig is my dream drum brand, alongside Meinl, Zildjian, Paiste and Istanbul for cymbals, Tama and DW for hardware and Roland for electronics. Also I like to have DW and Rogers snares. Is that Chester Thompson's double bass kit at the Sonor booth? That's a massive piece of Phil Collins and Genesis history right there! I still dream of attending the Summer NAMM in the middle of the year though. It's a dream for every musician, especially drummers, to attend NAMM
I believe the Rogers Dynasonic drums are a ply shell, as the Radio King drums are a steam bent solid shell. Didn't get them side by side, although I can say that the Slingerland drums sound comparable to the vintage models. The calf head likely contributes a fair amount to that!
Good fun, but when it comes to drums, the evolution is pretty much complete. Indeed, we're now going backwards into the whole retro vibe. What's new? Oh, three new colours! 😂 The only thing still evolving is the price.
A lot of the new products at NAMM this year were definitely finishes. Will be interesting to see the DW sonic ply once it gets past prototype. The shells were noticeably resonant.
Listen I have been playing for 38 yrs and what I have learned is spend a little extra money to get a NICE yamaha, DW, Gretsch, Tama, in Birch or maple buy some solid hardware and either Zildjian or Sabian upper model cymbals, some good heads by remo or evans and put the rest of your money into taking lessons with several instructors over the next few years, learn as MANY styles/genres as you can and practice like your life depended on it. Those drums, hardware and cymbals that you spent the little extra money on will last you a lifetime. Once you learn how to tune your drums with nice heads and you learn technique you'll be a freaking monster. And again, those drums, cymbals and hardware will last you a lifetime. I know guys that still have and play the same DW, Yamaha, Gretsch and Tama kits from the 80s...thats almost 40 yrs. So what is my message? Don't go chasing the newest latest, greatest...it all comes down how you groove, technique and know your genres.
Very nice video. Thanks for putting in all the work to make this.

The Chester Thompson kit was being featured outside of the Sonor booth on the main floor of the convention center
New subscriber here. Thank you for your coverage of NAMM! Were you able to check our the Tama mirror rod?
We have a separate video on the TAMA booth where we mention the mirror rod. Check our channel!
Great review....Thank you! Just wondering, no Rogers booth?
No dedicated Rogers booth
Bello/Magnifico.🙏✡️✡️✡️✡️✡️✡️👑
The stainless steel Ludwig’s are coming out sometime in quarter 2 right? Been waiting for a reissue of them so I’m stoked!
I hope the new SLINGERLAND kits come in white marine pearl, which Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa played..
I see you on every video about drums in the comment hahaha
José at Slingerland did mention they have plans to feature what are considered 'calssic' finishes from the brand over time.
@
We must be looking at the same videos…😊
thanks so lot
Nice!
How do the new Radio Kings compare to the new Rogers Dynasonic, which are less than half the price.

That’s a stainless kit. Not chrome.
Спасибо
👍👍
Did you see anyone marketing fiberglass shell drums, other than JenkinsMartin? ...or carbon fiber shell?
Not that we can recall, but we could have missed something
What happened to Showcasing Pearl Drums Mister????
Pearl did not have a booth at NAMM this year
Did anyone check out smackpac? Drums
We walked by briefly but didn’t have a chance to film, wish we had more time!!

As it was busy as you say, should be a 4 day show.
Slingerland are now roland ,as are dw.
Was definitely challenging to try and squeeze everything into 3 days!
What is that yellow sparkle Gretsch kit?
Catalina Maple
@@SteveWeissMusic Thanks. New color? have not seen anything about it yet. Thx
No Pearl this year?
Pearl had a meeting room to meet with retailers etc, but no exhibit booth.
I heard That DW was making all of the Gretsch drum shells now. True?
Yes!! that why I won’t touch them!! They are not Gretsch!!
Keller still makes the shells for Gretsch to their specifications. DW is just the distributor.
