      Note; this feature actually comes from a mod that's built-in with Bethesda's retail version of Fallout 2. An engine enhancer goes by the name of Sfall.
      So by any chance you're playing Fallout 2 with the original disc, you won't be able to highlight dropped items on the ground.

    The Den kids will try and steal from you every time you pass near them, if one gets distracted they may even take an important item, which will drive you crazy when The Chosen One says "uh... i was sure i had it right here..." later in the game. What you do is punch them once or twice provide you don't kill them. After that exit combat, that way they will run away every time you approach them in the future. Also The Den (my favorite place of all Fallout 2 actually ) is full of junkies that don't give a damn, hence nobody will attack you if you punch the kids, not like Klamath were you'`ll have every inhabitant after you if you do so. If you reach The Den with Sulik , you punch a kid and that kid or another one fights you back, Sulik may respond and kill a kid or two. No worries, nothing happens, no bad karma, not even child-killer reputation :-D - Fallout 2 , the greatest game ever.

      I just finished Fallout 2 last week and absolutely loved it. It's my favorite of the old school RPG Fallout games, while New Vegas is my favorite of the 3D loot & shoot titles. I hope you have as good a time as I did, and don't get discouraged by how hard it is early on. It gets much easier as you gain skills, perks, and learn the mechanics of the game.

    There is a way to kill those kids who steal from you with no consequence. Get some dynamite and store all your items, then activate the dynamite and walk past them letting them pick pocket the dynamite and blow up shortly after.

      they might not wanna consider bringing something back that completely negates the need for lockpicking. and knocking down opponents to increase the accuracy in v.a.t.s? just fire the gun in real time if they're on the ground.

    • @CPT85
      @CPT85 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@prettyradhandle Not saying it needs to be the exact same way. For breaking locks, they could involve certain dynamics that make it harder or impossible to break them. Maybe even running the risk of damaging the contents inside of containers. Or if you’re trying to break a lock in a town, you run the risk of being detected and they turn hostile accusing you of robbery.
      For knocking them down and increasing accuracy in V.A.T.S., maybe to be less redundant, it can increase damage as well whereupon shooting a target in real time would just cause normal damage. But those are just my thoughts.

  • @Hatsworthful
    @Hatsworthful 3 ปีที่แล้ว +21

    Always unload your weapon before upgrading it (at least with the guy in new reno), not only will he upgrade the gun for free, but he will also return it to you fully loaded, meaning that if you have a spare version of your main weapon you can get some free ammo on top of the money you'll make selling it later.
    This is ABSURDLY good if you plan on using the assault rifle, since you can pretty much get one or two of those by fighting raiders on random encounters nearby, upgrading them and getting boatloads of ammo for free (and a fair amount of cash for selling the rifles too) since the rifle upgrade is an extended magazine, meaning a hundred bullets per rifle turned in.

    *MOAR TIPS:*
    - Can't unlock a (foot)locker or the lock is jammed - use crawbar
    - Using several Super stimpacks on NPCs and waiting a few hour may cause them to die, without being treated as kill from you - since Super stimpack restore hell of HP, but in time it takes HP and this effect stacks
    - Some companios have high active skill like Vic - reapair, Myron/Skynet - science, Lenny - doctor
    - Some of the vendors have shelves or tables. Using steal on those shelves/tables while not seen(mostly when they are not looking at you) give you access to their stock and you can take without steal check
    - The kid in the can pickpocket you in return you can pickpocket them(or loot their corpses after using Super stimpacks on them)

    The children stealing in the den... They only steal from you. Not your companions; so just enter combat and run in the building, then end combat. Due to the turn based aspect, the kids can't do anything.
    Another tip... If you are struggling for money, get the gambling skill up to 125%. Go to any casino (NOT THE DEN) and play roulette. Hold down the number button corresponding to the $50 option, walk away and come back 10 -20 mins you will have a decent amount of money.

    Very nice 👍! I knew about a quarter of these through experiments and reading tons of forums. I wish I would have seen this video first though, would've saved me a lot of headache.
    Movement speed and pushing people aside were the biggest annoyances I was glad to find an answer to.
    I was wondering what, if anything, happened to extra AP when you finish your move. That's good to know now as my play style was basically, I hit->I run away->enemy catches up with no AP to attack->I hit->(repeat until dead).
    Unfortunately, I had to start my third game (hadn't retched the Den yet but I had a butt load of items already) because I misplaced the Fuel Converter for the Highwaymen and spent a whole day, real day, looking through all the lockers and vases and bookcases... Couldn't find it for crap, had to start new game.

    One cheesy way to destroy the slavers guild early on:
    Start Lara’s raid and run to the guild instead of attacking Tyler’s gang
    Agro the slavers and just hide
    Lara’s guys will kill at least half of the slavers attacking you
    Run and pick one of the dead slavers weapons and that’s it, you can now fight them on your own

Anyway, regarding #2 - others have suggested simply getting a hit in on enemies in the temple and then running away 3 or 4 blocks. They won't have enough AP to attack you at that distance, and using a tag for those skills when you don't want a melee character in the long run is a lot to ask for.

If you don't save at every few minutes and die, well its not gonna get fun, especially when you do something like triggering an alarm in a place and you save after and that makes the mission basically impossible and. You might even have to start a new game.

    There is *ABSOLUTELY NO NEED* to tag either melee or unarmed to get through the Temple of Trials, and frankly the build is a complete combat *LOAD* later on. *ALL* you need do to succeed at the Temple of Trials is have 9 action points ... which you should have anyway if you're at all built for combat. You sneak up to whatever creature you want to attack ... they'll notice you ONLY when they're close enough to reach you, but not close enough to actually attack. Then you kick twice on turn one and sneak away on turn two. To do this, you move away with 8 action points (with Sneak ON) and then end combat with your ninth AP. This can be done over and over all the way through Klamath, right up until you get the 10mm pistol.

    *ALSO...!* ...something I found out was that there's a difference in "Barter" and "Trade" when talking to your companions.
    If you "Barter" then you exchange with something of equal value.
    If you "Trade" then you can exchange items between each other as long as you don't go over weight. Value has nothing to do with it.
    This comes in handy when you have no more room for loot and you have a companion(s) with you.
    You can give them the loot (even if it shows you giving them a "$" amount with you getting nothing in return), and when you go back to town you *"Trade"* with them and you can get the loot they were carrying without giving him/them any "$$$" in return.
