❤😂🎉
But will your forks and gigs throw sparks?
Chief love your work, how about an episode on how to stay cool out in the bush..........primitive and new school...........dig a hole both for staying in and for water storage.........putting your hand in a running cool stream.......cooling off before going to sleep.........waking up hot af........god bless
Camp spacing...........where to put latrine, food, animal butchering et cetera..............keeping you and your shit clean, importance of hygeine in camping and a shtf scenario
I got an idea I ain't never seen on yt before...............using ash as an insulator, saw on primitive technology...........to line hollow, either brick or wooden structure, and then using ice during the winter time to create an ice box...........just an idea
I've watched every episode of The Red Green Show, where duct tape is the handymans secret weapon...but they never used it as a fire starting source....very cool 😎
I enjoy your videos, and thank you very much for your time and your hard work😊
You make it look easy . Love the videos.
This is a great video, Shawn. Thank you 😎👍🏻
Thanks for sharing Shawn. Always a pleasure to learn new skills and techniques 💪
The BOSS of Bush crafting and survival.
Vast majority os so-called bushcrafters stage everything. CC is the real deal!
Awesome
I used to live in Georgia and it wasn't nothing to go walking and find a piece of fat-lightered wood. We mostly had slash pine
That was a great mid week video!
Good stuff
Repetition is the mother of all knowledge. Your fire starting methodologies is a really valuable pieces of advice. I think I will add some fat-wood sticks to my outdoor equipment as well, truly inspired from your midweek videos. Thanks for your stubbornness to still hanging in there on TH-cam, Shawn!
Finally, a simple explanation of what fatwood is and where to find it. Awesome video❗️👍
Gray Bearded Green Beret has a really good video on how to find and what to look for when you're in search of fatwood.
Among the MANY things I appreciate about your presentations are your honesty & realistic approach. Some channels present survival skills in the most ideal conditions; but the reality of most survival situations is that conditions will be horrible. I appreciate your service to our country; your investment of time & energy in preparation for yopur presentations; & your experience & expertise in the trenches & in the woods. At age 82, I always look forward to learning new skills! May God bless you & your family.
Excellent content as usual. Enjoyed the video have a great evening.
Outstanding AF. Ever since you showed me the duct tape trick a few years back, it has been a staple in my bag. As always, Thanks for all you do.
Please keep them coming, fine sir!
Another outstanding video for the books. Great ideas and solutions for trying to start a fire in a wet surrounding. As usual, you rock Shawn, and your videos always are entertaining and informative AF!!
Outstanding af corp 2 times a week thank you for your dedication and time
King of fire!! Great instruction! Keep up the incredible work.
Nice. Got my forks and gig 2.0 yesterday. On my birthday. Thank you so much and this forged gear is amazing
I never get tired of watching you make flame 🔥
You are out standing
Useful information to chew on, cause the weather ain't always great! Love what you're doing 😊
Never thought of the sap “pooling” at the limb/trunk junction. Thanks.
I saw this on Thursday. Thanks for the info!!!!!!! Thanks for continuing to put out interesting videos!!!
Shawn, you seem to the one on You Tube that holds the knife steady and pulls the ferroceum rod away from the bundle. Best method because there is zero chance of hitting/disturbing the bundle. Thanks for showing this technique.
Midweek video are outstanding A.F 👏👏👏
Thank you n I'll see you, on Sunday 🫡
I've watched you for the last 7+ years. And I'm glad to see the last few weeks you look like your having fun doing this again. I like the buils too so keep it up. I'm stoked AF.
along with posting the lowest views in 7 years
@@recall5811 some people are are just tools watching the same thing over and over. Not even trying to to do the skills. Those of us that do, or hell even try. Enjoy the old school mixed with the out of the box approach.
And thats how its done!😄
The man killing it with another mid week video… raining on Long Island right now.. going out to try
Thanks!
Love that you keep it simple. On my way to the Dollar General. Pick your poison people.
Another great mid-week video.
👍👍👍👍👍❤ Thank you for sharing this information
Video displaying the hands of a hardworking man. Thanks.
Very informative. Thanks for the content. On the west coast we call fatwood pitchwood and it can be found when cutting pine. Burns like a candle.
CPL Kelly, Fire God. Outstanding!!
And the bad assery continues! Great job corporal. All your efforts are appreciated, maybe not by YT, but for many. That's why I always give a like and comment. Thanks.
The teaching aspect of the mid week videos combined with the more physical application on Sunday is OUTSTANDING AF! Love where your taking the channel.
That is so much fun to watch. I very much appreciate you saying, "Truth be told, it took me three times to find the best way." You are a fantastic influence and instructor. Thank you for all you do.
Great mini. Thank you
Excellent instruction! Thank you.
This was awesome. Very informative. I will be practicing asap
Never miss a video but this one really caught my attention and I had to replay part of it, you said Stater Bros lol I’ve been working for them for 34 years. I had to replay that part of the video, awesome lol.
If it ain't rainin' we ain't complainin'😊
A perfect addition to a good week .
Thanks Corporal . 🔥
Thanks Cpl. Kelly, love to watch you’re videos
I like that you make sure that viewers know the trick is in mastering the small details
Glad to see you're doing so well with your outdoor business.
Some years back I did go out between storms to practice starting a fire in wet conditions. AFTER clawing my way into a thorny bush to get "dry" tinder at the base and trigs to get the base fire going. I was quite proud of myself. I was sitting there when I spied an old broken tree stump about 10' tall - maybe 18" dia. and saw a small triangular hole at the base. Reached in and pulled out a handful of totally dry tinder!
How stupid was that! Didn't even check for bugs and critters! LOL!
🔥
For a guaranteed fire in the rain, I use cade wield.
Good video my friend. Btw my granddaughter made her shelter Sunday afternoon with no physical help from me. I just cheered her on. This granddaughter of mine thinks you can rope the moon. Pard we appreciate you for what you do.🐕🦺🇺🇲
Cpl Kelly, you make it look so EZ.
My uncle ran a timber skidder , when he found good pine logs , he skid them out to where we could get to them with our saws and pickups . Made fair money cutting that stuff into 8 inch blocks , some of the rich pine maybe 14 to 16 inches through, we kept the knotty stuff to give to grandpa and granny , all the buyers wanted was what would split easy .
Hey there sugar bear 🧸 love ❤️ your videos!!! Please don't ever stop making many countless and numerous more!!!! 🥰🤠🥰🧸🦣🐻 And Howdy Howdy from DeadHorse Alaska sweetheart 💞!!!!
Best bushcraft survival channel on YT
I really like the tape part about making a fire, going to put some in backpack today, thanks Shane.👍🙏
I liked the video you did about a year ago on how to start a fire in the rain as well. Great practical advice! Thx!
Another comment for the algorithm. Cool video.
You can even create artificial fatwood: cooking pine in wax for some minuts.
A very good reminder for me!
Make the most out of my gear!
Candle wax?
Awesome video per usual. Alternate title, Corporal Og make 🔥 🍺🫵🤟🇨🇦🫡🇺🇸🤟🫵🍺🔥
Awesome stuff once again. Very informative.
Outstanding AF
Thx Shawn
Barney style, i love it!!!
7:51 the old school method. Gotta be sure that you really drill that hole fast enough. 😉😁👍
Great topic and appreciate the honesty about how many times it took to get it right. Not many people show that it’s not perfect every time .
Midweek Funday! That bow drill, was awesome. Keep up the great work 👍
try using cotton wool when using the bow or doritos with feras rod
Good stuff as always 👍
I like to carefully make a small pile of shavings off the ferro rod which adds a nice boost to the tinder 💥
👍🏼👍🏼🇨🇦🇨🇦👍🏼👍🏼 love them all
Pertinent subject matter. This is easily one of the wettest summers on record where I live. Not easy going trying to start primitive fire. This is the first time I've seen anyone make fire using a bow drill and fatwood. Another tool for the tool box. Makes perfect sense to carry a piece of fatwood in your go bag. Good stuff corporal. Always interesting. The Wednesday/Thursday format is awesome.
Really good CPL, thanks!
Always OUTSTANDING 🙏🇺🇸💯🕊️💪🤙😊
That "one shot job" that you are good at when using your ferro-rod. Great mid-week vid man. 👍 I need to get much better at the bow drill.
fatwood is great, i chop it into smaller sticks to keep in old altoids tin along with a small ferro rod and small piece of old hacksaw blade for striking. nice compact reliable fire kit i keep on me anytime im out in the wild
The mid week video allows you to show and teach better than the regular video. Keep it up Brother!!!
Old 11Bravo here..the best fire 🔥starter in an emergency is military trioxane period...this is my goto emergency fire starter..Vince g 11B infantry.
Not many people will have that on them but they might have a bit of duct tape or find some fat wood 👍
Best bow driller on TH-cam. It appears one of the secrets is proper prep of the materials.
He makes it look easy.
All great ideas.
yes, all tried and true methods. thank you for teaching new people, and reminding older ones things they may have forgotten.
Great content, we appreciate your effort. BZ
Another good idea is save your dryer lint. One spark lights a ball of it instantly
Great tips. Thankyou.
You have been very creative over the years in showing many different ways with different products and challenges how to make fire, cook, hunt, or make shelter, etc, your a stand out in this field.
I appreciate and enjoy your videos
Next time Corporal thanks again👍🏽
I’ve learned a lot from watching your videos.👍👍
Excellent video thanks
Great Video.Knowing how to start a fire in all weather is a major plus in the outdoor skills bag.
Where I live we have white pines. You said it exactly the right way, "White pines have some sap in them,". Yeah, but not much in the way of fatwood. In fact, I'm going to go ahead and say that white pine sucks for fatwood. I have walked my woods, looked for rotten pine stumps and wrestled out the 'taproot'. Even though the taproot is still pretty solid there isn't enough sap/turpentine in it to light worth a crap. Not even shavings - with a lighter. I have chopped and sawed into several downed pine trees and, right at the junction where some branches meet the tree (some branches but not all) there might be a nugget of fatwood smaller than a man's fist. Really not worth it and not a shade of the store-bought fatwood sticks. What I have gotten from the pines around here, though, is if there is an injury to the tree and it has pieces of hardwned sap around it then that stuff is a great secondary fire lighter. I say secondary because when it is hard like I am talking about I can only get it started with flame - either a lighter, matches, etc.or by lighting something else like maybe a flash tinder with a burning lens, ferro rod, etc. Once that hardened sap is lit, though, it is some serious stuff that melts and becomes about as much like napalm as that Gorilla tape you showed.
👍👍👍 Awesome 👌 ...Alan in 🇨🇱
Fanwood is everywhere, anyone out in the wilderness can find it I say get out now and experiment
YEAH!
Well done sir
Awe the plastic tent stake didn't make the cut? That was one i hadn't seen prior to your channel.
I’m from the dry lands of Texas aka the panhandle, this is the one I try to practice just due to me not having the experience with wet surroundings much
Keep these coming. Solid video
👍
