  • Crazy swap road construction. Only for people that love equipment and excavation work. Tag along while we show you the obstacles we faced. Had no intentions of making a TH-cam video out of this, all video from iPhone.

    Spread some bags of “LIME” into the soil. This will help dry up & compact the soil.

    I wish I had it that easy on my driveway. one to five feet of muskeg before you reach the "hard pan" clay, and then have to build it back up with rock and add drainage in a temperate rainforest in southeast Alaska. All of that on a 45 degree slope. If I would have tried to "float" the rock, it would never have worked.

    Looks good, what size is that “slag rock”? Here in NW Florida we use crushed concrete and limestone.

      The slag is actually a byproduct of the steel mill when they burn off the impurities. It’s pretty large probably 2-4” diameter. It’s about 2-3 x the size of railroad rock

    Hello Sr, may I ask you how much did it cost? I have a swamp area in front of my lot here in Central florida and I need to make a drive way over it in order to access the road.

      I’m sorry buddy I can’t disclose what my client spent on it. I can tell you it was 15 loads of the stone, cost of the pipes, we had about 50 hours in the job. It wasn’t cheap, but it was more cost effective than wooden or steel bridge.

      Yes we removed the silt and set them on the best material we could find

    You just piled the ballast in there? Didn't undercut any of the muck out?

    • @floridabrushanddirt2482
      @floridabrushanddirt2482  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We actually cut the muck out I don’t think I got it on camera it was 18-20” deep. We buried it off to the side and placed the better material back in its place then went over that with the slags rock. The dirt we put back was wet and for all practical purposes was mud at the time. The muck we pulled out was mostly silt.

      @@mhazel9551 thank you so much! I meant to add, the slag I keep talking about is a bi product of the local steel mill, they burn the impurities off of the scalp steel. Not sure if you have a steel mill local but that’s a place you may could find some if you need it for any project.
