Actual retention of knowledge comes from practicing them , not just reading them about it .

This is amazing. I could never justify to my tech friends why I dive into random projects for the sake of learning and fulfilling my curiosity. Feel much better hearing this from someone wiser and more experienced. Thank you.

Great video! When I learn something new, I head right to Eli's TH-cam channel.

In terms of app development, I am interested in creating for andriod application over apple so I am going to do some research and figure out which one seems like the smartest route to take.

Hey, nice video. Can you really read a For Dummies book in two days? I feel like I would never be able to do that. Do you read cover to cover or do you skim? Is there some technique to read that fast?
    Thank you so much

What books would you suggest for IT noobs looking to switch career paths into cyber security and understand general IT?

IMO to be good at security you need a base understanding of enterprise IT before going down that rabbit hole. Start off with help desk and then start working on mid level certs such as MCSA/CCNA. Oh and a home lab is important!

I wish I could read KRC. Its not possible. You don't read it. You study them, implement what you learned and do revision. This doesn't take 30-60 mins. Its takes months if you have day job or weeks if you are unemployed.

@2:41 Exactly, you cannot "suck knowledge with a straw." Unless your job involves being a professional learner of useless knowledge.

My motherlanguage is slavic language and for my academic goals I mainly need english and german, I mastered english but german not yet, but going there, I also maybe learn some scandinavian language and spanish, for the lulz of course but still all depends what do you want to do with your life and no one can say that for you but yourself.

Eli the Computer Guy Hi. So I'm really interested in phones. Also i'd like to build computers maybe. Like normal desktop computers not servers or anything. But i'd like to develop apps too. Which degree would suit me?

I would presume jointed honour degree in computer science and software engineering. Alternatively, there is a similar degree, though focused on more on the hardware aspect of the computer, called Computer Hardware engineering degree. It is all relative. My best advice would be visiting open days in university and just a get taster of the courses that each university has on offer. Of course, within the computer science/engineering/technology faculty. Stay away from Arts degree :)

I swear every time I feel like there is so much to learn and so little time , you say one thing that turns my life around. I am getting my masters in IT and some of the course work is hard to remember but near the end of your video you mentioned cbtnuggets.com I paused the video and went to the site and it was like I went to heaven. I am going to start doing the powershell and entry to linux, as well as a ton of other videos. Thanks for being on youtube you helped me out greatly.
