This merger will end my association on social media with the PGA Tour and I will never watch one of their events ever again. What a slap in the face to the loyal PGA Tour players.
So much for beating his chest about ethics and moral outrage. Jay Monahan has demonstrated to be no more than a duplicitous hypocrite and no less willing to prostitute himself to Saudi money, just like the rogue tour players he harshly criticised for defecting to the ignominious LIV tour, Greg Norman's hubris. The only atom of positive from the merger is that Greg Norman appears to have been sidelined.
I feel all the money they needed was there but how to legally show it the problem !! It's all tied in to huge things and tons shuffled but you can't exactly come out and show it!!!!!!!!!!
So Fred Couples was one of the big noise makers about Phil, LIV and the loyalty towards the PGA, He and Rory where the two poster boys.. well they have been bitten in the backside... so FC is very reserved and no where to be heard after the deal announcement..
Couples hit the nail on the head about Norman though. Saying nobody has liked him for 25 years is pretty accurate. If the LIV heads have put him out of his job, that would be one step in the right direction.
All the guys who stood by monahan and his “ principles” should sue him for the money they lost not going to liv in the first place . Young up and coming golfers are going to be faced with a super league of elite and ridiculously paid golfers that will be as impregnable as the premiership soccer, football, baseball, basketball etc leagues , there will be no money filtering down - just up . No more real opens im afraid , no more suprise winners , no more level playing fields . How sporting ….. ill never forgive phil michelson .
Best youtube report to date. Golf is caught in and held hostage by Hypocrisy, Greed, Dishonesty, and Manipulation. Until the players and the fans take control, like the Green Bay Packers (US Football) or like Manchester United (Eropean Soccer) the turmoil will continue. This is just the beginning of ill will, fighting, and the consequences of Hypocrisy, Greed, Dishonesty, and Manipulation.
The writing was on the wall when the PGA allowed several tours to exist prior to LIV. Tours where players on these tours (the Asian tour, the Korn Ferry tour et al ) could aspire to play for bigger paychecks and exciting venues. What went around came back around.
Simple. Keep liv around and make all the players that went to liv play in liv. Don't let them in the PGA, and don't put them on TV. Make them earn new PGA cards after the LIV contract is up. Don't let them in majors. Till liv contracts end.
We have had a lot of our best workers leave for more money then come back and get even more money. It causes hard feelings for those who stayed loyal. It happens everywhere, not just in the golf world.
PIF is an investment company. They may put loads of money into the sport but in the end they will want it back. This will be bad for the fans as they will make it more and more expensive to watch. Another sport destroyed by money that is not interested in the sport but only by how much money it can make them, just the same as what happened to F1.
There are a couple of points. First, this new company will control men’s professional golf globally so it’s a monopoly. The current situation is the PGA Tour have increased prize money beyond amount these events can generate and the same for LIV. So why would money be pumped into the game to pay wealthy golfers even more when the game is haemorrhaging money? A monopolist can set the price, and in this case prize money will go down to address unsustainable costs. The second issue is this that creating in a global monopoly, regulators in the US, Europe, UK and Asia are likely to review this deal and decide if it’s the best interests of their countries and citizens. This can take a long time. Until all regulators have approved this deal all parties must act as separate businesses. It could take several years to reach that point if it’s ever agreed. This deal is far from done.
LIV prize money came from the PIF, so there was no issue there.. But for the rest of your comment, your reasoning is sound, so long as you keep it to PGA Tour events and NOT the Majors.
Broadcast television business has changed, with the windfall of money from networks dwindling. At some point, sooner than later, we’ll all be paying a “broadcast fee” to watch PGA events via streaming.
I'll watch the non-PGA majors only, going forward. The Opens and The Masters. Next, the PGA will probably hire Dylan Mulvaney as the face of the new PGA Tour. I hope sponsors start dropping PGA support.
Bunch of narcissistic BS; these guys are INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS and should be allowed to play wherever they want. If PGA players feel so strongly…..boycott tournaments and see how long it takes for you to be forgotten.
You could have simplified this with one word. Greed. Money talks louder than loyalty to the players or the fans. I am sure Monahan is getting a big chunk of change that he isn't disclosing.
Look this deal kept the books closed. Tour players and Sponsors should be suspect of Tour Management. This 2+ Billion dollar a year non profit enterprise that claims ownership of Independant contractors is just a victim of success. A real inspection of finances would be very interesting. Personally I am for Players rights and to claim this "niche sport is not supported by total dollars at stake. PGA might be broke but somebody is taking in A lot of money.
Tiger and Rory should resign from PGA - in protest of the PGA taking Saudi money. They should start their own league here in the US. Just think of the sponsors they would get AND the golf courses that would beg them to come and have their tournaments at their courses. Focus on the younger players, the ones from the Korn Ferry and the guys right out of college.Time to break up the monopoly that the PGA has created and make some competition. Time to reclaim golf for the US and not kowtow to Saudi money. Hey, maybe a co-ed league just to spite the Saudis????
See how much the charities will be getting. I'm sure, a lot less. The PGA used to very proud of their charity record for giving. Now they don't give a sh*t.
So, what is the side deal with the USGA? Are they going away? Maybe the damage is so deep it will not go away for a long time. I can understand why the players who stayed loyal to the PGA are pissed. Maybe they will leave the PGA and join the USGA.
I recently read the Nike was interested in buying Brooks’ LIV team for 2 BILLION dollars. True? It seems insane but there is so much going on now behind closed doors. It makes no sense to me so I’m just trying to see if anyone else heard the same thing.
LIV isn’t tour golf, it’s team play without drama. They only have three players in their prime- Rahm, Koepka and DeChambeau. That said, you play professional golf to make a living and they all got paid in a huge way. Can’t blame them for the business decision. Just don’t expect fans to watch the clown show.
FINES my arse LIV PLAYERS moved to LIV as a career move weather it was the money or playing method PGA players did exactly the same SO FINES ARE A LOAD OF BOLLOCKS IF THE PGA CAN AFFORD IT THEY SHOULD PAY UOT THE PGA PLAYERS NOT TRY TO SCROUNGR MONEY OFF LIV PLAYERS
Tiger and Rory should have kept their mouths shut......they're golfers not PR gurus.....LIV golf and The PGA are big business....and although these 2 are excellent golfers.....they don't have a clue about big business without good advice
Rory isnt good enough to hate anybody he plays his big mouth because when LIV players come back he will struggle to be in the top 30 and we will get a true no1
They just want the money. Just like everyone else, remember these guys are not saint's. There just like most anyone in today's society. Self preservation. God bless everyone everywhere.
The PGA is going broke due to mismanagement of funds. They made 1.52 billion tax exempt dollars in 2022. Where did it all go? We know they paid out 835 million because that is public record.
yeah I think that would be very respectable of them to have to earn their card back on the PGA because the money is the root to all evil and let me ask him did it make you feel good doing that taking all that here's what people forgot it's only going to make you happy for the moment and those players are good enough they can get their cards back I don't think it should be a.
How much did Jay Monahan receive to agreed to the merger?
- - -big bonus for the Commissioner and Mr. Dunne for brokering the sale of PGA to the Saudis.
This merger will end my association on social media with the PGA Tour and I will never watch one of their events ever again. What a slap in the face to the loyal PGA Tour players.
It’s not like most of the top players aren’t already filthy rich, why do they need more?
You could say that about any rich person, or voodoo economics in general. The sport is over priced in every way imaginable.
Except so many very talented give up cause so hard to hang financially for low rung with great potential!!! PGA did zero for them!!
Steve Wheatcroft on retiring " I'm not enthusiastic about earning 180000$ on Kornferry to in reality lose 150000$ "( due to expenses)
The real reason is that the PGA was running out of money, and even worse sponsors were leaving and refusing to agree to the elevated event purses
Event purses have been way out of line
So much for beating his chest about ethics and moral outrage. IS Monihan really sick...or is he hiding until the dust settles?
Tough on the younger players on PGA
At least the LPGA is safe. Maybe more support should go towards them
Demonstrates the difference between women's sports and men's sports. ..
safe from what? koreans own/dominate womens golf. it's a joke.
Are you so sure about that? How is the USGA going to be affected by this? Are they going to be obsolete soon?
I'd like to see a mixed tourney 20 yard per hole advantage to women everything else same Be very interesting!!
All the guys who stood by monahan and his “ principles” should sue him for the money they lost not going to liv in the first place . The organizers will make a lot of money and the players are the pawns. Its all about money lets not kid ourselves.
Yup.
Money that's the weasels weaseled from the players and have no legit right to!!

Players need to take control with help from honest billionaire to guide them !!
If merge going forward, lawmakers should ask for payback tax money
Money changes everything!!
Money wins!
Jay had his price

Not gonna happen 😂

Full contact golf coming 2024 BE THERE!!
I'll watch the non-PGA majors only, going forward. The Opens and The Masters. Next, the PGA will probably hire Dylan Mulvaney as the face of the new PGA Tour.
I hope sponsors start dropping PGA support.
It's just golf, no more, no less....not going to change anything in this crazy world.
Bunch of narcissistic BS; these guys are INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS and should be allowed to play wherever they want. If PGA players feel so strongly…..boycott tournaments and see how long it takes for you to be forgotten.
People are speculating as to why Tigers caddy moved on to another player... I'm bedding that Tiger is moving on to... Adios Liv.
The PIF bought pro golf like a trinket. This whole thing isn’t a proper business model of any kind.
You could have simplified this with one word. Greed. Money talks louder than loyalty to the players or the fans. I am sure Monahan is getting a big chunk of change that he isn't disclosing.
#boycottpga
Come on Tiger...you KNOW what this is about.
Yeah, the problem with golf is it’s not expensive enough. 😂
nothing new but good summary of everything. BTW: has anyone photo shopped the PGA Tour logo showing a keffiyeh on the PGA golfer? Please send to me!
Look this deal kept the books closed. Tour players and Sponsors should be suspect of Tour Management. Not broke by a million miles no way!!
Just happy Greg Norman got blindsided.
It's all part of NEOM. Look it up.
Bring the PGA tour to its knees!
Tiger and Rory should resign from PGA - in protest of the PGA taking Saudi money. They should start their own league here in the US. Tiger is done. The novelty of seeing play will diminish quickly without winning. Unfortunately
Rory took millions just to play in Arab events,. So in a way, he is being a little hypocritical. They can all join the USGA.
You have general good ideas implementing hard though ! It's collusion among tight knit billionaires club to monopolize golf!!
Now they have ruined GOLF…. I’m done being a fan…. I prefer American golf… There is a tradition that is being violated… This is corrupt for sure…
USGA is basically rules assoc who run a number mostly amateur tourneys! No pro opportunities!!
I recently read the Nike was interested in buying Brooks’ LIV team for 2 BILLION dollars. True? It seems insane but there is so much going on now behind closed doors. It makes no sense to me so I’m just trying to see if anyone else heard the same thing.
It’s all about the big bucks, duh !! Winning a tournament=1.6 mill. Playing g for 4 days that comes to about 400 gs a day. I could live on that !!
RORY keep your morals. Greg you need to change your logo to the greedy snake.
PGA is no longer a western game.
When ever there is a merger the company with all the money ends up taking over = Saudi Arabia ⛳
So Tiger should have took the 800mill
LIV isn’t tour golf, it’s team play without drama. They only have three players in their prime- Rahm, Koepka and DeChambeau. That said, you play professional golf to make a living and they all got paid in a huge way. Can’t blame them for the business decision. Just don’t expect fans to watch the clown show.
Wrong PGA logo…

They haven't merged yet
No forgiveness for the Saudis!
All of the is talking and no mention of antitrust issues.
Greg Norman.???? Im not a fan.
Money
Ha ha ha, now the blood money smells so good
Huh???
💰💰💰
Rory isnt good enough to hate anybody he plays his big mouth because when LIV players come back he will struggle to be in the top 30 and we will get a true no1
I know you dislike Rory so do I but in no realistic world is he not top ten golfer or higher!
They just want the money. Just like everyone else, remember these guys are not saint's. There just like most anyone in today's society. Self preservation. God bless everyone everywhere.
Dislike.
There's lots of pressure on Monahan, depression is a biggie. The PGA is going broke due to LIV
The PGA is going broke due to mismanagement of funds. They made 1.52 billion tax exempt dollars in 2022. Where did it all go? We know they paid out 835 million because that is public record.
problem
