I came from Tiktok with that sliding shot in the intro. And wow this is such an amazing concept. Should definitely be at more views! Such a great ending!
Not only an alcoholic, but he is also a psychopath. Well Done!!! I like that you showed her being blind with light perception. My friend's sister is blind and has light perception (who is a lawyer) and her husband is blind with no light perception (who is a musical therapist). My friend explained that someone who has light perception is like us looking at something through a shower curtain, exactly the way you did it.
The actress was fantastic, and I liked being able to see what she sees. Just shadows; probably feels like looking through fog. Very scary ending! Brilliant!
@Blake Ridder, Idk if you realized this or not but you can hear you or someone giving the husband his lines. Specifically when the wife and husband are playing cards and he says 10. You can hear someone whispering 10 right before he said it. I have ear buds so maybe they can pick up more however that has never happened before I just thought you may want to know... This short was pretty awesome and completely unexpected!
This was amazing! Such an original idea! Definitely didn’t expect the ending at all. And the acting was well done. Would love to see a longer version of this. 👏🏼 Just subscribed! Can’t wait to see what other content you put out 😃
@@detrajackson5992 I didn’t notice when I watched but I went back and increased the volume and I heard that as well, only on the “it’s a 10” line though
Oh wow! That was so great! Glad you kept the ending the way you did. It’s 7:50 am where I am and already feel like my subconscious will feel this film in my sleep tonight. Well done!
HOLY SHIT!!! You never cease to amaze Blake. This one is off the hook to say the least. I am so glad it's working out for you. And thanks for replying to my comment a week or so ago. I'm subbed so I can expect another top notch short any time now. Thanks again and keep er goin'.
I watched it till the end. I must say it’s an amazing short horror film that is a bit creepy especially for that scene where the delivery man got a glimpse of a man around the corner. But one thing I didn’t get in the film is that why the husband killed the doctor.
Would love to see a podcast of some sort where you discuss this film. There are parts where I don’t fully understands the purpose. Like when his head popped up when she recieved the box. It was eery buy I don’t see how that part fits in with the story. Same with the hands shadow in the first talk session as you mentioned on a tik tok comment. I loved the film though, really well done!
Creepy. I'm visually impaired myself. I know it's too much to ask but I would have sensed him by his smell, sound of his steps, breathing and that creepy feeling of the hair standing up on the back of your neck when you think your being watched. We all have these heightened abilities and I assume totally blind or those that can only see shadows have it 100X better than me
Great film! At first I thought it would've been scarier to end right after "You didn't tell me you had a beard" but actually I think that would still suggest that something supernatural was going on rather than the real story - and it's so much scarier knowing the truth!! The peer around the corner at 10:27 was definitely the most frightening part for me though...
Thanks Jo. I originally did think the same, to end at that point you suggested. But yea, the reveal is better. By the way, Now you can get EXCLUSIVE and EARLY access at: www.patreon.com/blakeridder
from tiktok to the scary land. the film is so thrilling.......i love your work. is there part 2? this would make one hell of a series. the twist,....very creative there.
Hey Blake, really liked it! Nice transition from the woman in the beginning! And nice lighting on the woman on the sofa! You shot everything on the black magic pocket? Grtz from the Netherlands
This is probably the best ensemble of actors and director i have ever seen. A blend of Alfred Hitchcock, Twilight Zone and Monty Python depending on the script. Thats an impressive feat. ,
So far, this is my favourite of your films. I love the frame story, and the concept here was fantastic. Couple of minor things, though. Firstly, you're clearly better at writing romance than abuse - which reflects well on you, as a person, but the dialogue in that scene didn't sound very realistic. Secondly, when she was alone in her kitchen, she felt around for the handle of the cupboard - that makes no sense. Not only is she partially sighted, but it's her kitchen, she would know where the handle is. But, frankly, these are minor quibbles. This was a great story idea, and very well acted all around.
This short is quite good & thrilling too. I like how the main character was portrayed & felt rather empathetic to her situation. I don't understand the part that she explained to the 'therapist' about how the cops had already taken the body away. Did her husband impersonate the police as well? Or did that not even happen? Anyway, it was still really good!
the husband pretended to be a police officer! the part at the end where he says the thing about the neighbors calling the police is him pretending to be the cop
@@bigjuicychicken535 kinda reminds me of Avengers Endgame, when Thor confronts Captain Marvel in the Avengers compound before the opening theme, and there appears to be a background whisper “I have telepathy”. This was in a trailer and also in the actual movie. No idea if that was an actual whisper or my imagination. 😂

I re-watched this, and feel dumb for not understanding the ending. Like, I get the twist is that she obviously mis-understood her surroundings via the theme detailed at the beginning mentioning people psychologically filling in the gaps. In some capacity, she clearly thought she was talking to someone who was secretly her husband the entire time. What I don't get is all the flashback scenes trying to give us the big reveal that the husband pretended to die from her knife stab, killed the other guy, & then pretended to be the other guy? That doesn't make any sense, but I can't fathom what else those scenes were trying to communicate.
Awesome content. I was thinking a more disturbing ending would be if her tormentor had described himself of a similar ethnicity (& make up a story about being a friend of his wife's Asian friend that she was previously unaware of to tie it all in) when playing the role as the friend. Then keeping his face clean shaven & @ the end she would have believed that her tormentor was illuminated by the savior, when her tormentor played all sides perfectly to deceive his 'wife' to then have her unwittingly get stuck back into the cycle that preceded her husbands 'death' . Another deeper & more chilling twist would be to add some form of memory loss along with her blindness as this cycle has been repeated time & time again unbeknownst to the victim & have this as a psychopath choosing vulnerable targets with pinpoint precision.
"it's a ten"...somebody was feeding his line...listen to it whispered just before he says it. That was enough for me to move out of the moment. Good thing it was missed by the award-givers. Otherwise....WONDERFUL! :)
