    I can't express how much it means to see a poodle as a mobility service dog. I love that they're included and not considered prissy dainty dogs. I know the weight/height ratio is important, too. I really want to train my poodle for counterbalance, but am having a hard time finding a suitable and up to date video.

      Hi, I am looking into a standard poodle for my first service dog. Mainly for my seizures, migraines, POTS, Fibromyalgia, PTSD, Autism, and Dissociation. For mobility I just need forward momentum pull and Guiding me when I’m dissociating. Some people are telling me poodles can’t do mobility not even light mobility. Other people are telling me they can. I don’t want to hurt the dog but I’m only able to get a hyperallergenic dog and I don’t want to go with a doodle for a few different reasons. I know another option is a giant schnauzer but they are a guard breed and I will be a first time handler so people don’t recommend that. Plus I don’t want to crop his ears because I believe it’s cruel. I’m planning on getting a standard poodle on the larger side and owner training with the help of a private trainer. I am aware I have to wait until he’s 2 years old to even consider light mobility and take him to an orthopedic vet. My height is 5 foot 4 inches and my weight is 245. That’s why I’m concerned about hurting the dog because I’m overweight. But it’s hard because I can only get a hyperallergenic dog. And there’s not many choices of hyperallergenic dogs on the bigger side. All I need is guiding during dissociation and forward momentum pull when I’m having trouble keeping up walking with whoever I’m with because I’ve been walking for a while and I’m wore out and sore from my fibromyalgia.

    I have Bipolar disorder and neuropathy I am looking into a service dog. My counseling center has a dog that can pick up on so many emotions and other things and I get to play with her and work with her for 30 minutes 15 minutes before and 15 minutes after. Today she picked up on a lot of my stress and anxiety and did her job well 😊 I cried and she hugged me and when our first 15 minutes were up she didn’t want me to leave and when I saw her again I sat down and petted her for along time telling her how good of a girl she is. Thanks for the video and representing our community well.

    Alizo is my multipurpose service dog. I have him because I have really bad epilepsy, complex PTSD,and type 1 diabetes. He's a American cattle dog and he is a medium/large dog. He does a lot of tasks like alerting to my ptsd episodes and Seizures. I constantly have entitled parents that pet alizo when I constantly say no and that he's working on me if I have a epileptic seizure. I'm in the hospital emergency room right now because alizo missed an alert since a person came up to alizo and pet him when I have like 5+ patches that say do not touch and one that is my favorite (I dont grab your a$$ while your working). That patch I just said is at the bottom of his 1Tigris harness. When I do have to be in the emergency room alizo is laying on the floor or doing dpt if he alerts to a PTSD episode.

    I show so many signs of anxiety disorder, depression, ADHD/ADD, and possibly PTSD. A service dog would do wonders if I were to get one, and I plan to eventually go to a therapist. The price is insane, (also I am a young teen) so its hard to get one for a lower price or for free. I heard of owner training and a personal trainer which is a lot cheaper, my mother also agreed in the future it would be a good idea.

    I’m currently looking for a trainer who does video calls to train my doggo to be a service dog when I get them (and they get a little older). I’m limited on transportation so I prefer video calls. There’s no trainers within 30 minutes of me as far as I know (trainers who are qualified for training service dogs and work with small breeds). Everything else I need (stores, vets, etc.) are within my travel distance limits so training is the last obstacle to figure out.

      Sadly Susan has passed away, but poodles are a part of the 'fab four' for service work and are a very popular breed for psychiatric work. They generally are easy to train, but individual temperament is also important

      (Wrll bred) poodles can make great psych sds, it is important to not that standard poodles are sensitive to handler error, meaning 8f they think you don't know what you're doing, they're not going to want to listen to you. My spoo sd is multipurpose but he does know several psych tasks. Labs and goldens are a little bit easier for first time owner trainers though

    Hi, If you don’t mind me asking, what is his height? I am looking into a standard poodle for my service dog prospect and I want a poodle on the taller side. I researched and the average height of a standard poodle is 18-24 inches. But I’ve had people tell me that there are standard poodles that are 27 inches tall.

    • @ACarThatGoesVroomVroom
      @ACarThatGoesVroomVroom 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Those poodles most of the time come from royal or king poodle breeders, there are multiple types but you want to find those that focus more on the health then the beauty when it comes with that size. Most of the time though the breeder will have a long wait list and depending on were you live you might not even have one close to you.. Other than getting a purebred tall poodle, you could also try looking at bernedoodles or other tall or big breed dogs mixed with poodles to make them taller and stronger.

      Poodles are the #3 choice for service work in the US. They were originally hunting dogs (water retrievers) and have been used as war dogs (to carry messages behind enemy lines) carting dogs, sheep dogs, police dogs, therapy dogs in hospitals/nursing homes, search and rescue, termite/bedbug dogs, and of course service dogs.

      Ciel One Hell of A Service Dog Yes, any breed can be a service dog, but some breeds are more prone to washing out due to aggressiveness, fear, or general unwillingness to work. I would rather advise others to put all that time, work, and money into a breed (Poodles, Goldens, and Labs) that are more likely to not wash out.

    Your wrong! Please stop giving out false information. You do not have to pay someone to train your dog you can do the training at home all you have to do is make sure your dog is well behaved and can complete the task you need done. get a note from your doctor saying you need the service dog so you can go into public places, that may or may not allow animals or “pets” such as grocery stores, hotels ect.

    • @eerieblight
      @eerieblight 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I don't even think you did your research.
      This comment is wrong and disappointing in so many ways. You can't just bring your service dog into public with a doctor's note, anyways, no matter how well trained it is. You need to pass a PA test. Anyways, in some places you need a trainer to go with you.

They also have to be potty trained and know at least one task before they are a service dog.
