I use the same CPS reclaim unit. They always trip out on HP. I use a homemade sup cooler on the discharge out of the reclaim. Helps so much when recovering heaps of refrigerant. Saves so much time. I think you can get an off the shelf one from Kirby, I just made my own out of some left over 3/8. Keep up the good work. Great to see an Aussie fridgy I can relate to on here 👍

I’ve only had this reclaim for a few months and this is the first proper test it’s had. I think I’ll have to make up a sub cooler for the next time. Thanks for the tip mate, appreciate it. Glad you’re enjoying the videos too. I’m having a lot of fun making them. These platforms are a really good source of information. Everyone who has reached out has been really kind and helpful.

@@hvacraustralia Saw another bloke, might have been HVAC TIME, make a subcooler out of an old little condensing unit. Keep the fan and condenser together, whack some schraders on it and you don't even need water to keep your recovery machine happy. Holds a bit more refrigerant than the water based subcoolers but could be more convenient.
Seeing everything in kPa is gonna take me a bit. Used to everyone on here talking in PSI.
      G'day from Brissy!

@@Thermoelectric7 That’s a good idea! If I can get my hands on one I’ll give that a go. Thanks mate. 😂 yeah, I feel the same when watching others too. I thought about swapping over but it’s just so ingrained now.

Its because your recovering liquid. Its basically a small condensing unit. It cant pump liquid straight through it. You need to close off the suction port a small bit to reduce the refrigerant entering the reclaim unit. The poor thing is liquid locking not actually going on hp because of too much pressure

i get to do the same job next week, but for a compressor swap

Don't your clean pump downs come in a vacuum already?
I've got my own bottles I use and clean so haven't rented one in yonks.

They do, but from my early days I was told to just do it anyway just in case there was an issue.

@@hvacraustralia yeah good call, especially on vrvs. Love the content, would love to get into working on them one day myself.

Thanks mate. I’ve only been working on them for the past 6 months. They’re a lot of fun. So much information to learn.
