The combined choirs of the Salt Lake Choral Artists (Young Choral Artists, Women's Choir, Concert Choir, Chamber Choir and Vocal Artists) along with local High School choirs perform Five Hebrew Love Songs by Eric Whitacre live in concert on February 19, 2011 in Libby Gardner concert hall, under the direction of Dr. Brady Allred
Violin:
Leslie Henrie
Piano:
Laurel Enke
Text:
I. Temuna (A Picture)
A picture is engraved in my heart;
Moving between light and darkness:
A sort of silence envelopes your body,
And your hair falls upon your face just so.
II. Kala Kalla (Light Bride)
Light bride
She is all mine,
And lightly
She will kiss me!
III. Larov (Mostly)
"Mostly," said the roof to the sky,
"the distance between you and I is endlessness;
But a while ago two came up here,
And only one centimeter was left between us."
IV. Eyze Shelleg! (What Snow!)
What snow!
Like little dreams
Falling from the sky.
V. Rakut (Tenderness)
He was full of tenderness;
She was very hard.
And as much as she tried to stay thus,
Simply, and with no good reason,
He took her into himself,
And set her down
In the softest, softest place.

The choir is phenomenal, and let's TALK about that violinist! She has perfectly captured the authenticity of spirit of my people (the Jews). Lovely, lovely, lovely performance.
Good Lord, I want to sing this beautiful piece in choir so badly.
One of my most favourite Whitacre compositions!
I love Rakut it's my favourite one of them
I just sang this with my Honors All-State Choir, and, as an Alto II, all I could think about was how much I wanted to be a Soprano for Larov. This blend is phenomenal, I wish we could have matched it.
I cannot imagine a more perfect realisation of this piece. Thank you.
Sang this in my high school choir and still one of my favorite pieces I've ever performed. I want to recommend this to my college professor.
I sang this with my high school choir recently. I'm a bass, and Kala Kalla was definitely the most touching to sing
Oh my gosh, that is the most excited child I have ever seen in my whole life.
I was there and unfamiliar with this music and I loved it!
This conductor is so great! I yet can't believe that I played with him. He's incredible...
Kala Kalla is my favorite
Gorgeous. Outstanding composer, composition, chorus, and CONDUCTOR. Gosh, it just doesn't get much better than this. Also, those kids at 3:31crack me up every time.
My high school choirs doing this peace and im exciteddddd
I love this song so much. I just did it with a district wide choir, and it sounds just awesome with 300 voices!
i miss singing this in my choir
beautiful humans making beautiful music! i dig this! cant wait for our performance of this in two days!. im a bass
I was part of the 2012 KMEA Allstate SATB Choir. We performed this piece, and I must say, at first I hated it because I was unfamiliar with Hebrew. But once I actually learned the piece, it quickly became one of my favorites. It's beautiful and you can really feel the love between Eric and Hila since they wrote the piece together.
Practicing this with my college choir for our performance in May. I'm so incredibly excited! I love my soprano part for Rakut :)
Boy at 3:32 !
He is quite adorable!
I was too! :) The songs still get stuck in my head lol
My choir is learning this :D soooo excited, they're so pretty.
I'm thinking of performing this with my HS choir next year. It's so compelling and beautiful. It's either this, Water Night, or Seal Lullaby. I just can't seem to decide!! This is a gorgeous performance by the way.
I'm glad that this choir sang at this tempo. I've heard others sing too fast that the part that goes "la lalalalalalalala lalalalalalalala..." sounds really messed up. This choir, pianist, violinist, and the conductor are really, REALLY good.
Woah... I can't explain how beautiful this was...
I sing in a highschool chamber choir as a sophomore and we're working on this now! But you guys did such a fantastic job! I absolutely loved song IV and V ...STUNNING ♥
Kind of reminds me of when I was a soporano....back in primary/intermediate school...parents just agreed...lol
I just happened to listen to this song.
and this is really touching :) even though I never understand the lyrics.
It is so beautiful! Love it too..
how the sounds "bong bong bong" create the sound of falling snow i will never know
Mia Standen I think it's meant to be bells
i will admit that does make more sense
I love it!
beautiful!
Sooo excited to do this with my choir itss gonna be amazing!!!
Beautiful. Awesome!
Eric Whitacre is the mozart of the Voice...
@pianosonggurl the expressions that little boy makes makes me laugh.
hes so cute
amamzing'
This is lovely.
Qué buena la violinista! Sonido impecable y fraseo perfecto.
Aw man wasn't it great? :D I miss it so much!
Man goodd
muy buena
Not enough thumbs up for this piece
sooo cute! :)
Lárov ❤
Beautiful peice and a nice reminder that you look like a jerk when you use your cell phone during a concert (guy in the 3rd row)
Around 4:16 does anyone else feel like it should be C# instead of C natural?
no
maybe, maybe we should take some *notes*
Aww Cute :D
Thumbs up if you noticed the tall little boy at 3:33 and his tongue ;)
The guy who does the whispers sounds slightly creepy if you ask me. I guess I'm used to hearing it done by a woman LOL. BTW He looks like Jim Carrey :P
dota 2 anybody
