The girl who sings the solo is so astonishingly beautiful, body and soul, it is a delight to watch her, and this entire performance. Truly otherworldly. x
I am a Hebrew native-speaker: it is only thanks to the combined talents of the Bel Canto choir (I'm a long time follower) and of Eric Whitacre, that this rather idiotic song is pleasant to hear here.
Such a beautiful opus sung by a FABULOUS Chorus! The Louisiana Choral Foundation will be performing this set as part of our 2023 Spring concert. We hope to honor his genius and love.
Absolutely GORGEOUS solo in Éyze shéleg begins at 7:04 you're welcome. (This is mostly for my benefit so I can instantly replay that part over and over and over till I can't hear anything anymore)
I love the music of Eric Whitacre in general, and this collection of Love Songs is an absolute stunner. I heard them live for the first time last night, and experienced that visceral shock on hearing something that you know will change your emotional life and musical sound world permanently. In particular, Éyze shéleg! sent shivers up and down my back and brought tears to my eyes. It is a thing of sheer beauty. Thank you Eric, thank you Bel Canto. (Interestingly, the waves of sound produced by the choir from around 7.54 are very reminiscent of sections of Vaughan Williams's Flos Campi, a much underrated work in my view. Here, as in Flos Campi, they evoke infinite tenderness and a bitter-sweet melancholy.)
I am so glad I accidentally opened this ! How beautiful ! What beautiful a choir, and what enthousiasm in both choir and director. I hope there are more pieces of this excellent choir. For some reason the director makes me think of Nikolaus Harnoncourt, who lipped with the singers as well... Love it ! Thank you for posting it.
Eric schrieb das zusammen mit "my girlfriend-at-the-time" Hila Plitmann. In Speyer, Germany. Weiter schreibt er: "These songs are profoundly personal for me, born entirely out of my new love for this soprano, poet, and now my beautiful wife, Hila Plitmann." Also ehrlich, was für eine schöne Geschichte.
Impeccable performance of an exquisite piece of music! I've never heard an SATB choral work accompanied by a string quartet; it adds a very interesting new dimension to the music. I've also never seen so many beautiful young ladies enjoy singing so much-but how could they not when performing such tender, heartfelt love songs for a dashing and debonair composer!

This man is a genius... That's absolute beauty
I met Mr. Whitacre in person and he is awesome!

The sounds of Éyse shéleg are a reminiscence to the bells of a church in Speyer, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany.
Stimmt !!
I. Temuná (A Picture) 0:32
II. Kalá kallá (Light Bride) 2:22
III. Lárov (Mostly) 5:59

Fabulous! We sang this recently in my choral group but this is so much better. The singers are quite amazing to watch.
pretty exquisite music by a wonderful choir. Whitacre's music is unforgettable, always.
With a Glad Heart. . i will always . . always . . . remember a Moment in time. . . .
6:51 this is so so gorgeous and such a delight to sing
I agree, . . i have seen, heard, felt, tasted, sung, followed, and met, . . . the surpise of this chior, i,m still touched and always will be !
soothes my soul. Especially very near to the end.
Very beautiful. יפה מאד. Labai gražiai atlikta.
So beautiful. It's always great when the composer conducts their own pieces because they understand them best.
Did anyone see the guy at 6:48?
Sang this in Delaware’s All State Chorus back in 2008! One of my favorites

Brilliant,
Thank you beautiful people!
Impeccable arrangement and performance. Lots of fun, too! Particularly nice string writing, Eric.
yes! it's familiar but I can't remember who the original arrangement was by. Was it Poulenc?
Beautiful!
God, so beautiful
An ad in the middle of the song, how disturbing
Beautiful, haunting and lovely.
Exquisit!

The ladies really seem to be getting into the ”La, la, la” parts 😁
That's just how it's supposed to be conducted. Its supposed to be upbeat and focused on the frontal palate.
Very, very beautiful!
Powerful
La belleza existe
Magical !!
Sehr sehr sehr schön. Wirklich extrem gut zum lernen der Stücke
Amazing
Would love to know where this venue is. Everything about this piece is gorgeous.
the world stops for a while

7:10
absolutely beautiful
7:04
It's not the most perfect choir (they don't make all the entries together for example) but they are good performers.
Blame the conductor. Brilliant composer but his conducting is terrible. Inconsistent, imprecise, improperly placed pattern, awful cutoffs, vague cues.
Beautiful!
