With you upgrading and doing up your new van I recommend you investing in security cameras when your sleeping in the van and when your van is on its own look into it I would and you can have it hooked up to your phone for notifications 👍🏻
I am massively impressed that you only needed to use a bleep machine once Shaun, If I was doing the work you did the whole video would need to be silenced.
I have a mate who's a dairy service engineer, as well as being a fairly handy mechanic on race/rally cars. His entire language is based around one word, 'f*ck'. I've witnessed him use it as a verb, a noun and an adjective on more than one occasion. As in, 'This f*cking f*ck's f*cked!' Good job he hasn't got a TH-cam channel, otherwise there would be a global shortage of bleeps.
A shame this has as few views as it does. Came for a tutorial, stayed for the great content! Lovely work, and I appreciated you taking care of that bee so nicely.
The more I see your videos the more I like what you are doing. Excellent job to take us with you...first travelling, now building (absolutely great) and later travelling again. Thanks!!!!! Regards from Holland
You have the patience of a saint as I could never spend that amount of time fiddling with wires. The vans looking great and I can't wait until it's finished. My wife thinks you should convert vans as a living as you are, as she says, dead good at it.
In passanger side A pillar wire loom you have green/brown stripe wire for reversing light, connect your green to this cable and screen will come on automatically when reversing and go off when nit in reverse.
Nice job mate That green wire will likely be the trigger wire, I've always taken it straight to one of the rear light clusters and taken power from the live at the reversing bulb. As soon as the bulb lights up the camera will come on. Always worked for me👍
It works, but you have to be careful because on CANBUS based vehicles you can introduce flickering to your video signal, or can flag a reverse light "fault".
Brilliant video again and looking forward to seeing your first video when you take the new van out for its first trip. You are an inspiration as since I first started watching your videos late last year have since bought a Ford Transit Custom, put a bed and kitchen in it along with electrics and a diesel heater. Vans are great after a days cycling, paddle boarding or walking to be able to get changed in and make a hot drink while thawing out next to the diesel heater.
Shaun. I am sympathetic with you on this battle. Just done reversing camera and DAB aerial on my VW. Much anger and the swear jar was full but so happy I did it. Everything is coming along well on your van, looking forward to seeing the next steps
Binged watched all 10 videos to catch up, really good series so far, appreciate the level of detail you are covering! Keep up the good work, looking forward to seeing the end result. Hoping to build a camper in the near future, this is all super useful! P.S Congrats on your baby!
@@LoveSundays Your welcome, its good content. Of all the camper conversion videos ive watched, this series indeed is by far the best. I think most people only give a high level overview, whereas you have broken down into smaller segments and covered more depth, thus its alot better. Id be quite interested to understand how you plan and route all the electrics and plumbing as this is one aspect I need to learn more about. Would be especially cool if you will be adding solar panels, although might be a challenge with the roof rack in the way!
I used that exact glue to repair my rear view mirror. I think the 15 mins is under ideal conditions. If it was cool to cold outside, you need to account for that. I pressed it for 30s and then left it overnight
Put mine in the transit last weekend... No instructions either... I ran a live & earth to the second battery to a switch which I can fix on the dash... Turn it on and off when needed... May come in handy at traffic lights or if something is going on behind the van... And the bonus is... I can use it for reversing 😉
Fair play to you buddy. I couldn't face all that wiring, so went for the option of a wireless reversing camera for mine. Bit more expensive I'd imagine, but I'm lazy, and it saved me a headache and ballsing it up 😂
Another excellent video, thank you! Great to see your new van progressing well. You are certainly a motivated man! I'm sure you and your family will have such great times in the future that it's well worth the effort and time going in to building it. All the best 👍
Getting on nicely with it. I usually try to not buy kits that have instructions so vague, I'm sort of a james may type and like to have everything clear before I start or I lose interest haha 😂.. and isn't it easy to get carried away on jobs.
Great job 👍🏻I was wincing when you trapped your hand cus that's one of the worst ever stuck behind sharp plastic of any car/van 😆Spent many an hour in my youth wiring car stereo's and speakers in. Ahhh, those were the ear blasting bass days. The van is coming on good. Can't wait to see the interior build move forward soon. 🙂
I have the same system but I purchased the dual camera (the reason why you have two channels). It works brilliant as I don't have any rear windows, so the other camera points backward and acts as an actual rear view mirror.
@@LoveSundays I'll be honest, I installed it less than 2 months ago. Which part is reported to fail? I've also ordered a Teyes radio to replace my dumb Citroen Relay's radio. If the monitor fails, I could hook into this instead.
@@LoveSundays As in literally just a blue screen or as if the AV cable isn't connected? I could see that overtime an unprotected cable could easily be cut against the sharp edges of the van. I've installed my cable in trunking (like yourself) but who knows, it could be water ingress into the actual camera unit itself? Time will tell
Hi Shaun great video if you have any problems with your camera sticking to windscreen try double sided gorilla tape from Screwfix I think if not could be tool station very good stuff used it myself after needing to restick stuff after having new windscreen fitted.
This build if awsome and I’m enjoying it very much. What I like is your not rushing getting the build done and taking your time to get the van how you want it which is great. But at the same time Shaun I’m thinking you can’t wait to start using it.Are you going to incorporate anything into this build to use for taking your son away with you and your wife on weekends away or stuff like that .Grest build mate well done .
the transit van got stolen all the time. these methods may be helpful. 1) try to relocate the OBD port or hide it. 2) find the starter fuse or relay , relocate that or remove it when you park , 3) get a Faraday Bag for the key fob - put it in the bag as soon as you park and lock the car.
Great video! Can I ask where you bought the tab to glue onto screen for the bracket to slide onto? Seem difficult to find. Have a Wolfbox with bracket but my van has no mirror so cant install until I have the tab. Cheers.
Bro I would be screwed if it wasnt to for you! I have a camera wired like yours, no instructions, and cant find a good video demonstration. I'm the same in the way in that I don't want to be cutting wires (there's way too many) and hoping I find the right one; so I'm going to use your workaround; thank you!
Hi good vid. I just bought a van with this system however mine has a forward facing camera and side cameras. The only one that works is the rear, have no instructions just wondered if the monitor can be expanded to handle multiple cameras . Seems strange as there’s only one other signal connector
Is there not a way in such that the monitor can be screwed onto the dashboard if you didnt want it on the windscreen because a dash cam is in the exact same location?
Morning Shaun. That vans looking good mate it’s all coming together nicely, you start doing it as a job mate 😊 just a question why do you have to put the camera on the windscreen? Why couldn’t you attach it to the dashboard somewhere like in the middle? Keep up the good work mate. 😊
Bought this camera model. After almost a year all I have is the blue screen of death. The junk has to come out and some other non Chinese (aka reliable) hast to replace it. Total pain. Don't buy.

Wow, so many things to think about with this van build. I enjoy watching you figure things out.

To mount the mirror bracket use ct1 adhesive is the best better then the mirror glue the only problem is that you have to leave it for a day .
